L is for Lazy

Yesterday, I woke up at 10am feeling great and I had an extremely productive day. Go Joey, Go!

I told The Mister last night, “I won’t be doin any housework tomorrow.”
“Okay.” He looked around, “The house doesn’t need to be cleaned.”
“You’re right, it doesn’t. I’m just sayin, those two shirts won’t be ironed, dishes won’t be done, not bakin any bread.”
“Okay.”

Today, I woke up at 10am feeling great, but having a completely different plan.

My plan for today?
Hehe — to be LAZY!

Today, they all went away.
I was all alone.
In the quiet.
For hours and hours.

With coffee and carrot cake.
I baked that last night. Cause I like carrot cake for breakfast. Just scrape the icing off onto the next slice, and it becomes a square muffin.

I painted my nails a new color, called Ginger Zinger. I like it. It’s coral and springy, but cheerfully subdued.

I read the draft of a friend’s novel.
I reported this to The Mister, who has been reading Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia for the last four days. I said, “I read a book today.”
“Of course you did.”
“Yes, I read 761 pages, 161,000 words. Took me the better part of seven hours.”
“Uh huh. I hate you,” he said.
I like to brag to him about things I do better or faster than him, because I have low-skills-esteem in comparison.

lazy

I didn’t shower. I did brush my teeth, moisturize, and put on clean pajamas — because lazy, but still a woman.

I dipped my pita bread directly into the hummus container, but I did put the olives in a bowl.

I didn’t do any dishes. Hell, I didn’t even put any clean ones away!

lazy1

I did make the swate tay today, because depriving these people of swate tay is akin to depriving me of soda.
As we all know, that IS how housewives become prostitutes.
“Who do I hafta screw to get a goddamn soda?”

lazy4

Dinner?
I’ll eat bales of shredded wheat, thanks.
The girls will apparently eat fortune cookies, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, honeydew, bananas, and clementines.
I’m roasting The Mister a bagel sammich while I write this post and drink my Cheerwine.

When’s the last time you had a lazy day?
More delicious than carrot cake, ain’t it?

That carrot cake looks so dang good. I’ve never made a carrot cake, but I’m sure if I attempted it would not look near as good as that one…and you have nails to coordinate! Yay for lazy days!

I need a lazy day. Sure, I was off work yesterday, but it was because my kid got Strep so that doesn’t count as a lazy day.

        • It certainly doesn’t!
          Is he better now?
My girls got strep alllll the tiiiiiime in Georgia. Sassy every single year, usually right around her birthday! Humidity and ants. It was ridiculous. Even I got strep there, and I hadn’t had it in 34 years!

Just look at me funny and I’ll get strep. Everyone knows not to say the s word in my presence… Owen has only had it twice, he’s ridiculously healthy. I kept him home so he wouldn’t infect other kids but by mid-morning he seemed to be back to his old self. He had to get four bottles of antibiotics in lieu of penicillin since he allergic..he was all “are all of those for me? You mean I have to take that stuff thirty times?!” But thanks, he is much better now 🙂

  4. I dream more about lazy days that living a lazy day. There must be some guilt hiding inside me that keeps me away from enjoying laziness. I should try, though, I should. Your nail color is really cool. Since I’m a huge fan of ginger, the name is also very cool. Carrot cake for breakfast is not bad either. Curious about letter M…

All 761 pages? Wow! You are fast! 😀 Absolutely love that colour nail polish. It goes so well with your carrot cake too. haha. I had my lazy day on the weekend. It was great. Now the kiddie’s finally in bed. Off to brew some tea. 😀

  6. God I love carrot cake. I’m not eating any carbs at the moment and I could just sit down and eat a whole carrot cake. I’m drooling as I write this.

Ginger Zinger and cheerfully subdued. You had me right there, Joey.

You get more done in a lazy day than most folks do in a productive one. Take that, low self esteem. 🙂

It took me a solid minute to figure out “swate tay”…until I put it in a country voice. Ha!

I like your lazy day. Especially changing out of your pajamas into new pajamas. 😀

When I’m lazy I eat pizza for dinner, I wear sweat pants, and I do shower (for about an hour), than I play videogames 🙂

When I have projects rolling around the house, we joke that I go back to work on Monday to relax. And this Monday, someone brought in carrot cake. My nails remain natural.

  16. Sometimes we should be lazy, relax and just be in-the-moment. I do that whenever I need a break. Its a funny way to unwind.

  17. Sounds like an absolutely wonderful day. Can’t say when I’d had a day of complete laziness but even the bits and pieces I do are cherished!
