Around the Yard

It’s not quite 60F and raining today.
There’s a part of me that wants to go out and get into the garden. Weeding and dividing are easier when the ground is soaked. I prefer cool, wet days in general, because I honestly prefer the ache of my joints to the burning of my skin, and also, because yellow jackets don’t seem to like a rainy day.
But there’s another part of me that thinks I need to go to the grocery, because responsible parent…
I could easily convince myself that it’s the perfect day to add some perennials and plant my annuals…
So for now, while I’m not making any decisions, I thought I’d share some photos I took around the yard.

I’m not a good photographer, but some things are so beautiful, they can’t help but photograph well.

    Lovely pictures! It’s 60s and dry/overcast here. The kind of day I like because no sunburn and no heatstroke! 🙂 Enjoy your plants.

        OMG I tried to help mow the lawn yesterday and even WITH sunscreen I got all red. Luckily, nothing permanent, but it still made me feel HOT for the rest of the day (and not in a good way!).

          I know! I’m getting to the point where I have a summer uniform, which makes me look like an old lady gardener. Jeans and wellies, of course, but with loose-fitting, gauze-like, long-sleeved shirts and a big hat! Sunscreen doesn’t do much for me. I wore sunscreen every day in Georgia, and I still got “tan” (for me.) The first summer was a series of burns I will never get rid of.

    Pretty posies. What are the pink climbing jobs?
    I’m Goldilocks when it comes to gardening. Not too hot, not too cold, not too windy, not too damp… It’s a good thing I grow stuff that can fend for itself.

    Pretty.

    I spent Sunday with my family on a drive around the country, stopping at a garden center, an estate sale, a furniture store, got the car washed, and ended the outing with custard. Yum.

    Oh your flowers are so gorgeous! There is something really lovely when drops of rain glisten on the petals of a flower. The last pic one is my favorite. Hope spring will be on your way soon.
    And I think that you have a pretty good eye or a great camera because your pics are exquisite.

    You’ve got beautiful bounty already, Joey. You’re weeks ahead of us in Indy. Good for you. I think photographing what’s there was great use of your Sunday. Plan the splitting and weeding and planting. It will happen, my friend. Great flower shots. You ARE a fine garden photographer. Thank you. The drops on the plant and bloom? Gorgeous.

    This is the part about Washington state springs that I miss! The anticipation of everything blooming, and looking gorgeous again after winter. In S CA sh*ts always blooming….there’s no excitement or anticipation. haha!
