#Thursday Doors — Local

I’d love to have a #ThursdayDoors post every week, but I just don’t see interesting doors around here.
I do look.
I said to The Mister, “Everywhere has the same doors. Oh sure, they’re different colors, or the panels are positioned differently, but they’re all variations of the same damn door.” I can’t complain too much, because we have the same damn doors on our own house.

It’s become obvious to me that I need to plan Door Excursions downtown.

That being said, I noticed this set of doors, on some old apartments nearby. I say old, because they’ve been here since I was a kid, but in terms of buildings, this one isn’t old, even for America.
I was tempted to call FIL, who grew up in this neighborhood, and ask him how old they are, but then I realized I don’t know the name of the street they’re on, and I didn’t want to have a 20 minute conversation about how I don’t know all the names of all the streets in the city and then spend another 10 minutes listening to him argue about it with MIL, who did not grow up here, but probably has a story about someone who knew someone who lived in these apartments.
The building is remarkably unchanged in my lifetime — let’s just leave it at that.

I wanted to go up to the doors and get a better look, but that NO TRESPASSING sign scared me off a bit, so I tried to be quick.

    Now those are a nice looking set of doors Joey. You got me thinking about the sameness of doors and you are absolutely right! They are pretty boring as a rule!

    Given a choice of doors, I’d go for a round, Hobbit inspired door. Totally impressive construction.

    I love rustic farm doors especially those that are split in half! I just can’t remember the name of those. And the door knobs! LOL!

    love the detail on the doors. When looking for doors I find that sometimes the most ordinary doors can have a very interesting story to tell. I have found several doors in my neighborhood that some peopel would over look but I have found them very interesting.

    Hey this door thing is a pretty good idea. I wander around downtown quite a bit I think that may be the place for doors. If not doors door jambs. I will keep you informed.

    These are very interesting doors, thanks for sharing them. I’m always interested in the history, but on these, I’m more interested in how they got those big dents. I’ll just assume it was an accident while moving a piano and not related to someone trespassing. Thanks for joining #ThursdayDoors with such a cool entry!

    A ‘no trespassing’ sign deterred ‘you’? No way. 🙂 I like your doors. I bet if you could pop a top on a cold one, sit down on the step, they could tell you some stories. 🙂

    You can dent and scratch them but unless you drive through them with a truck, stainless steel clad doors can last forever. These are definitely share-worthy, thanks for posting.
    You know Joey we’re glad to have you join us whenever you want, but when you start talking Door Excursions I must warn you…this can lead to Door Trips and even Door Vacations 😉
    I know this from experience, *hangs head in semi-shame*

    Oh, Joey, you took me back about 30 years to a trip to Italy. I spent an entire day photographing doors. Now THERE were some interesting doors! Thank you so much for that mini trip to the past. Makes me want to dig out my old slides and look at them again. (sigh) ❤ Ciao.

    I know what you mean; I think all the interesting US doors are on the east coast or maybe California. I got a new camera, hoping I’ll see more interesting doirs 😀. I like your doors. That No Trespassing sign would have me scurrying away.

      Right? Thank you! Because interesting doors are old, quirky, or involve craftsmanship that people can’t afford. There are some absolutely stunning homes in our area, but so many with merely mediocre doors. Kinda sad.

    Just the look of those doors says ‘No Trespassing’ they don’t even need the sign. Great photo.

    I don’t think much about doors, but they all do seem the same. Except for our new shower door and it’s beautiful because we can shower in the stall—–finally! Now, if you are talking about mannequin heads, I see them all over the place and they are definitely interesting enough for me to pull out the camera.

    I really liked your original reaction to seeing the same kinds of doors, Joey. I like the set you chose to feature. The silver shimmer with the intricate grill work makes this rather ordinary old brick apt building transform into a beautiful one. 🙂 Fantastic job for your fist one and don’t worry about streets or location, you are a natural with this task!

    I got nothin’ about doors, Joey, and I’m starting to get a complex about it. Doors don’t even phase me for some reason. The people and stuff inside ’em, yup.
