This is the door to my favorite bar in Indy — Liberty Street.
The door itself is old, but who knows how old? Inside, the knob is extraordinarily low to The Mister, and just right for me.
It’s a mellow place. There’s a huge, timeless, wooden bar. There are architectural photos of various buildings in the city. They play music I like, with stuff from my own music library, and a good mix of music I don’t know, but still like.
It’s a magical place. They make amazing cocktails, and I get a lil mesmerized by the craft. It’s a place where I finish a drink and say, “I liked this a lot. What else would I like?” and the bartender says, “Everything,” and I believe him, because he’s a bloody genius.
I wanna say, “Make me all the drinks. I will drink all the drinks now, please.”
I did not drink all the drinks, but when we left, that first step out made my shoes wobble, so The Mister grabbed me, and I said, “Shh, watch your step. Oh hey, that’s kinda pretty.”
I love this place.
If we had a place like this within walking distance of our home, I’d be well on my way to a drinking problem.
Do you have a great bar where you live? Is it within walking distance of you? Do your shoes get wobbly there? Does it have an interesting door?

I love a place like that. Fortunately, I do have a good bar (with nice doors) and even more fortunately, it’s not within walking distance. The Mrs doesn’t drive at night, so I have to pass on “all the drinks.” Your comment about the doorknob makes me think of all the times I have installed something at “my height” and left my wife (who is a foot shorter) with that look.

Haha, thanks for the smiles!
One of the staff members said people often struggle to leave the bar because of the door knob situation.

Love the red/black colors together! Unfortunately we don’t live within walking distance to any place spectacular other than CVS! Lol! Your hangout looks very cool! 😄

Right? I’ve got a CVS and a Walgreens within walking distance! They’re so convenient! lol — but not really nice to hang out in!

No nice bars within walking distance for us and probably just as well.
Judging by the layers of paint on that doorframe, this door has been there for quite a while. Cheers!

Where in the big city is that? Broad Ripple? I haven’t been anywhere up there in a while except for downtown.

I have never been to this joint, probably because I don’t venture out too much after 3 or so and that is usually only because I am already out. I may try to change that as Liberty Street has been on my radar for a while. The only bar that I can walk to doesn’t open until 9 for their metal bands and Butler students,so I usually pass. That is a grand door though.

It’s a great place, very laid-back. I recommend their cocktail Blackstrap & Cane — but they can make anything delicious, and of course, plenty of beer…

Fetching post 😀 i don’t have a favorite bar ‘cuz Hub isn’t and was never a drinker. But my girlfriends and I – back in our wild years – had a restaurant we’d go to for mashed potatoes the ‘day after’, and our ritual was to exit the restaurant with arms locked, saying ‘watch your step, watch your step’ ‘cuz of the hangover wobbles. I really chuckled when you used that phrase.

We don’t really frequent bars much. We prefer a beer in our backyard or in front of the TV. But most every Friday night (except in winter…) hubs and I walk downtown to a restaurant that has a nice draft selection. It’s nice not to have to worry about driving home.

It really is nice not to worry about driving! We always hafta catch a cab if we’re both adulting. Probably why we so rarely do. I wish we could walk downtown. But then we’d be in a different school district, and we wouldn’t have any land, and mmm…never mind, but you know, it’d be nice!

Yes, it’s very nice to be able to walk. Even though there isn’t a continuous sidewalk, and we have to walk under a treacherous underpass. (Oops, sorry, I promise I won’t get on that soapbox again!)

Love this door, of course what’s not to love – good drinks, good music, and hopefully at least a few munchies to absorb a little of the alcohol. 🙂 I don’t have a favorite here in town, but we visited a wonderful craft brewery up north but the beer had an unbelievably high alcohol content and after two I wobbled back to the hotel but it wasn’t far thank heavens. 🙂

A little wobbling never hurt anyone 😉
We always eat elsewhere and get cocktails at Liberty Street. We usually do dessert at another place after that as well. I wish we got to go more often 😛

We had a connection to the owners of a great local bar, but they sold it and I just don’t connect as well to the place without them. So glad you have a place to enjoy and refuel. And of course, cool door.

Nice post…Never really had a favorite bar. When I was thirteen me and two other pubescent idiots convinced an adult to buy us six half pint bottles of Wild Turkey. We guzzled two half pints apiece.
We were deathly ill for almost a week and after that the scent of alcohol made me nauseous. It still does. Herb and dance clubs were my alternatives. My favorite dance club is still around but now when I enter it everyone looks at me in horror. I think that means that my dancing queen days are over. 🙂

Aw, mmhm, mine too. Walking into a club now gives me anxiety. Whoa, lights! Whoa! Is my head rattling visibly, or do I just feel like it is? Hah.
Wild Turkey. Oh no!

I love that place. It has a great beer selection. We shall always stop in there on our childless nights out.

We do have great bars and restaurant in our small town. I do not frequent them enough as I tend to say no when invited, but if someone (my husband) succeeds in dragging me out, I always have a good time: people watching, beer swilling and staring into his beautiful green eyes that twinkle when he laughs (kinda like Santa.)

My newest favorite bar to venture into with a friend or date is called the Solar Bar.thus is the only bar I frequent that has a door knob. Most of the places have a door to push open or closed. The Solar Bar is above a coffee shop called “Something Sweet.” (I used to go to the coffee shop during my 100 dates in 6 months and it was called “The Mean Bean.”
If I want to hear a good reliable band, I go to Roop Brothers, if I wish to have nice, tasty apps for 50% off for Happy Hour, I go to a really stnospheruc, older building with an outdoor patio called, Old Bag O’ Nails. Last but definitely an upscale and fun place, since no college kids snd mostly older people is across the street from my apt building called Vito’s Wine Bar, but downstairs is a bourbon bar. I like their Old Fashioned and Manhatten drinks. I usually have only one drink unless accompanied by someone so I don’t wander off on way home. My youngest daughter ended up across a creek bridge on OWU campus talking to me on her cell phone while also talking to the ducks there. LOL

Bourbon can certainly lead to wandering off 😉
We had old fashioneds at home over our anniversary weekend. We went out with the dog, but otherwise, stayed safely inside! Thanks for your comment. It’s great to have these venues nearby.

My dear wife Karen and I dig our neighborhood joint, Chadwick’s, Joey, as I’ve written about at my place. We go once a month, sometimes less, once in a while more. The owner remembers us, our favorite bartender talks to us right where we left off the last visit, the bar food is good and the prices are reasonable. Three or four blocks from the Little Bitty. You betcha!
