When The Mister and I were gettin serious, I asked my friend Mick if he thought I’d do a good job raising children that weren’t my own.
He asked me, “Can you make a delicious baked potato if you’re not gonna eat it yourself?”

My. That is deep; in an odd sort of way. Speaking for myself I always do my best cooking for someone else. Not sure if that means anything. Perhaps I should have a beer to contemplate.

You should always have a beer. When in doubt, have a beer.

There are so many answers to that question… not all of them positive. Way too deep for me today. 😛

That’s actually quite profound. Then again, potatoes are buried deep… 😉

I never thought about the implications of raising Fitty’s kids? Magoo did, and did her best to inform, but for me it was all about making all the kids feel wanted and like they belonged to us.
You can’t replace an absent mother, but you sure can be a good influence and another set of cuddling arms!

I think maybe because you were already a mother, you must have done better? It was a lot of pressure initially.
Actually, it still is, but now I care less what the observers think, hmm?

Having a relationship with his kids that existed before “we” did helped too. I changed those kid’s bums as babies!
It’s always hard, one of the reasons I haven’t done 8’s tribute post is that he’s the one I butt heads with the most! I don’t know how to convey that without sounding mean, because I actually think the world of him. Sigh…

I did with Bubba, but not with Sissy. She latched on tighter and quicker tho, being younger and more needy.
I’m sure it will be easier to do 8’s tribute when some time has passed 😉

He’s nagging me for it, which I can understand….
Time has passed, I’ve nearly worked out how to say what I mean..!
He doesn’t ever let me get away with much, so I’d better do it soon huh?

I love kids at playgrounds and when I married the last time, Joey we literally had the Brady Bunch. 3 of each: when we got divorced 13 years later his kids were warm and supportive. They live 2 hours away so I hear more by phones or picture texts. You are an amazing Mom and stepmom, Joey. 🙂

Actually, this is just my kind of wisdom and it made me smile which was lovely. Now I’m wondering which one I am !

Reading you for awhile now, Joey, and I can’t tell a dang’s worth of difference between pre-Mister kids, post-Mister kids, with-Mister kids. I have an inkling about the oldest boy because of the vacation references and the ex, but that’s about the Mister and the ex, not Bubba. So what I’m saying is, you treat ’em all like they’re one bunch of your kids, and they seem to treat you like they’re all your kids and you are all Mom to them. It’s real nice in my eyes and for my soul.
