Fall Is My Friend

Today, I am mourning the loss of Fall Break.
I could write an ode to Fall Break, if I had had more sleep. I didn’t have more sleep, because Fall Break has ended.

For nine days, I enjoyed the sleeping in and the perfect weather. These two things combined to provide me with great energy to work on home improvement projects. I got so much done. It was wonderful.

I drove The Mister crazy with all my bustling about. In defense of him asking, “Oh my fucking God, does that clock say it’s almost 3am?” I said, “Yes, but when I have all this energy, when I feel this good, I don’t want to stop. I feel normal. I feel like myself.”
If you have more bad-feeling days than good-feeling days, then you know exactly what I mean.

I know a lot of people get depressed this time of year, whether it’s from Seasonal Affective Disorder or merely from the sadness of summer ending. For me, it is the opposite. I don’t like summer. Don’t like the heat, the humidity, the bugs, the allergies, the sweat, the sticky, the sunscreen. Without fail, the cooler weather brings out the best in me. My health gets a boost, and most assuredly, my skin calms down (at least until it’s frostbitten!) Autumn is beautiful here and I do love barn jacket days. I also love sweaters, socks, fleece, and flannel…
Fall is my friend.

Winter’s lack of sunlight does get to me in the form of insomnia, so I empathize with all the sleeping and waking issues others struggle with in the dark winter days. I am very good at hibernating, but I hibernate much more in summer than I do in winter. Winter’s still better for me than spring. When spring comes I usually end up physically ill. In spring, I must pace myself. But fall is a free-for-all. I wish it lasted longer. I wish Fall Break lasted longer.

So anyway, enough of my patterns — I had a week of feel good days and I got a lot done!

it's called Nice Cream, which is cute, because it's the color of vanilla ice cream

I won’t bore you with details of what all I’ve done, but I will say, removing the tape from the doors in the back hallway proved to be one of the happiest moments of my life. There’s more to do (Is there ever an end?) but I got a great deal done, and I’m rightly chuffed about it.

Stories did emerge, and I’ll share them another day.

While I’ve been ever so busy, I’ve not been reading a lot of blogs. I subscribe to my favorite blogs via email, and those are pretty much the only ones I’m reading.
I’ll be posting less as we finish this month, because I still have a lot to do. This pattern will continue through November. I’m not doing a new NaNo, but I’ll be focusing on my NaNo novel from last year.

Does autumn revitalize you? What have you been up to? Are you going to add an email option on your blog?

Ah yes, Fall is my friend too, it totally revitalizes me! But my body (mostly my knees) doesn’t always line up with my inner ambition, so I can’t be as productive as I’d like to be – I always have to pace myself. And I have sooooo much to do! Especially before my new little granddaughter gets here.
I love that Nice Cream color you shared and I’m excited for you to have removed the tape from the doors in your back hallway. Yay! I’m happy for you for your week of feel good days. 🙂
I have my favorite blogs set to arrive via email too, but it’s daily so I’m usually a day behind. Or two, depending on how much time I have.
Have fun with all your projects Joey! ❤

Even I’m excited for your new granddaughter! 😀

Fall revitalizes me too. There’s an energy in the air that no other season can top. Every drive or walk is a visual feast, which fuels the energy even more. But even though I love fall, I always miss the warmth of summer. I like to be able to fly out the door with no coat or gloves. Just slip on the shoes and be gone. Then again, it’s going to be in the 60s here in NE Ohio this week with the leaves in gorgeous color, so I have nothing to complain about!

I love the start of every season. Even Winter. I pretty much like all of the seasons. I am partial to the warmer days because I like Out of Doors. The only time I like Indoors is when we are right in the middle of Winter. Then it’s all about being cozy and having hot drinks. I like hot drinks during the Winter. I am so glad you got so much done. I hope you manage to get even more done in the next few weeks. Right done the weather is flawless.Reasonably cold at night and nice in the day. Let’s enjoy while we came.

Fall is my time. this year, I am taking about 1/2 of my vacation days in October. I get to do the tings I want to do, the things I have to do and I get to avoid spending the best days of the entire year stuck in an office. I understand – fall is the best!

Fall is my favorite. I usually don’t like Winter though, but when I move, I won’t really hate it that much. I am excited about that. I already have an email option for my blog-type-thing, but not for my blog, because I don’t have one of those.

I understand doing housework at 3am. I, myself, get a lot of work accomplished in the small hours of the morning. One nice thing about insomnia is that it gives you the opportunity to get things done when no one else is around to distract you.

I think 3am was the perfect time to arrange books. I don’t know what his problem was 😛 He said something about me having OCD, but I think he was just tired 😉

Fall is fine, Joey, but I know winter’s next, and that always gives me an ominous feeling. I miss my daylight. I hate the cold and snow. I’m glad you’re feeling up-and-at-it. 🙂

  13. Oh man, I love the fall. I run in the River Valley park just about every day. The smell of the leaves and the colours are sublime. Also I’m like a human furnace body temperature wise the the cooler weather is my friend.

It’s interesting that you say your health gets a boost in winter, when winter has a bad reputation of inflicting colds and flus. But I don’t tend to get sick during winter either. It’s the start of spring that gets me the worst (hay fever), so that’s one of my least favourite times of the year (also because it means I have to wait another year for winter to come around again!)

Fall>All the season. And I don’t even like pumpkin spice things. Spring could be lovely if it didn’t mean summer was around the corner.

  16. I love fall! My favorite season for sure, followed by summer and then spring. I am DREADING winter. It just seems to last forever and I can definitely have some down days. You mentioned your insomnia – not sure if you have tried a light box but it’s supposed to help regulate sleep cycles through the darker winter months. I used it last year and I think it helped!!
