#Thursday Doors — Can’t Hide the Lines

This is one of those doors that gives me an impression of who lives inside.
Someone steadfast and orderly seems to live here, don’tcha think?

It’s a bit stately, but not off-putting. The arc, the round stained-glass window, the flowers and their bowed pots — all help soften it, but even still, the curves can’t cover up its seriousness.

This door reminds me of my husband. Of course, he knows Old Glory belongs on the left, and there’d be a Notre Dame flag instead of Butler, and the flowers would be likely be faux shrubs, but this doorscape is totally him — with its black formality and its symmetry.

Anyway, apart from the flag fail, I love it — how bout you?

    You are right Joey, it is a very staid and serious door. It looks like you would have to be on your best behaviour on entering the premises or face the consequences! 🙂

    I like the entrance a lot but I agree about what might be inside. I know if I was 16 and picking up a date there, I’d be shaking in my shoes.

    The rest of that photo is so balanced, I kinda wish he had a security sign and mailbox on the opposite sides as well.

    Does it realy is number 5370? There are not even that many houses in my Town! Intriguing picture… The flag rule is in the law by the way: http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagcode.htm

    This is a DOOR with an attitude. I love it. I’m a balancing kind of person so I can appreciate the two pots and two flags (thanks for the clarification because I didn’t know that either). The arched entry is handsome, and I’m in awe of the stained glass window. This is a serious door, and I like it. 🙂

    Joey, I love the creative stained glass part of the beautiful door. I agree this person is into Symmetry which can be positive. Funny, I am going to work 1/2 day as we already worked 38 hours and will go in at 6 am, I will be heading up to my Mom’s. She was a rule breaker, I thought. Then I heard a designer say, “Matching up things is not as pretty as having odd numbered items.” Mom lived groups of 3’s! 🙂 Hoping she will be remembering things since I don’t feel she has mentally declined as much as the sales staff wants her to move into assisted living.
    I will go back one post yo check if I need to catch up, dear.

      It really is a door that commands attention!
      I agree, odd numbers of tchotchkes often look better, but symmetry certainly has its place.
      Three different Buddhas grace my shelves, but two identical carafes flank my favorite painting. Rules were certainly made to be broken, and from your previous descriptions, your mother has a strong knowledge of her own personal style.
      I do wish the best for her, Robin. I’m sure you know better than the sales staff. What does her doctor say?

      Her doctor and my younger brother wanted my 8 days and nights to really find out different facets and times of day reactions. I feel we all chose, for the time being, a pretty good lattice work of support. She got a new watch band for her alert button, since she hated the white beads necklace, which was “flimsy” (her words). We “hired” a daily meds nurse to unlock the box on top of fridge and give those 2x daily, Becky. There’s Holly, who will do what I had to do, give verbal prompts to kind of motivated her dressing and cleanliness. Then, Lana, PT and Jessica, OT. The “cleaning lady,” (Mom’s words) Housekeeper, Darlene. My youngest brother and other brother will stop by every other day, to visit. My brother and sister in law have her dog and theirs, live across the street practically. I cried a little after I left, she is a sweetheart and kind of knows she is losing her marbles, poor dear.
