Christmas Postathon — Day 13

Gift bags or wrapping paper?” Nancy asks.

I love to wrap. Love it. So relaxing. So pretty. I find it quite zen.

While I wrap, I think about the person opening the gift, and what their reaction will be. Anticipation of joy is most pleasurable.

When it comes to opening gifts, I enjoy tearing the paper. I think tearing the paper is way more exciting than pulling something out of a bag.

For years and years, before she was my MIL, I wrapped my MIL’s presents. I mean, I would go to her house, sit in her floor, and wrap all the things she bought for other people. For hours and hours. I very much enjoyed it.

I rarely use gift bags, but they’re useful for strange shapes, and certainly save time.

I like fancy paper, sparkly, golds and silvers especially.

Apparently this year I’m really into blues as well. And I do believe I’ve mentioned my affection for ribbon?
OMG I LOVE RIBBON AND PAPER AND SPARKLY THINGS! OMG I’m a cat!

I love your realization about being a cat! 😉 Your love of wrapping is infectious. I can feel it. 🙂

Yes tearing paper is where it’s at except when people go invisible tape happy and you can’t find where to start the rippage. Your paper and ribbons are gorgeous. I want a gift-wrapping Joey for Christmas too.

I hate wrapping! I like a good wrapping, but mine always turns out not-so-good.

  5. Ha HA! I love sparkly things too, I have got lots of ribbons and bows and I always wrap presents, but I am not any good at it! I start off ok, but then have to stick loads of sellotape everywhere to cover the botched wrapping job. Oh, I wish I had more patience!
Your wrapping looks spectacular Joey, and I am VERY jealous 🙂

I love to wrap! Usually I crank up the Christmas tunes or watch a Christmas movie while doing it. Though, this year I’ve done one blitz of wrapping and I watched Married At First Sight the entire time. Oops. 🙂

I like wrapping, but I stink at it. Somehow, I wasn’t surprised to read: “I like fancy paper, sparkly, golds and silvers especially” Enjoy the season 🙂

I enjoy wrapping the first couple of presents. Then I start to get grumbly, and by gift #20, you won’t want to be in the room with me. 😉

Or a Magpie;they like all of those sorts of things as well. I have an appreciation for the finer side of gift giving as well I just don’t find it as cathartic as you. I am not very adept at wrapping. I view it more as the price of gift giving. I must admit I do enjoy ripping off paper on gifts for me,so I probably shouldn’t be such a Grinch when it comes to wrapping for others. I especially enjoy the bright shiny foils used for wrapping. Oh and the look of a trimmed tree surrounded by presents always makes me smile as well. I do get to wrap some toys for the twins this year. It has been a while.

  12. I wished I liked it as much as you do. I don’t hate it but it’s a little bit of a chore for me. I am always glad when it’s done though and it all looks so pretty. Mine are all red and white this year. I like to have a “paper theme”, it’s the first time I do it this way and I will repeat that again next year.

I agree, themes are where it’s at. I think I will also continue with the blues, silver, and gold for awhile. It’s too much work to store a pile of different things and then hunt for the right trims.

  15. Paper for me too, Joey. I love your wrapped gifts. Pretty and festive.
I love wrapping my gifts as well. I have a tradition: holiday music, a large mug of chai tea latte and my wrapping stuff in my bedroom, doors closed, in the afternoon on Christmas Eve. It’s my time to pause as I wrap the gifts I chose for my family. It started when my kids were little and it seemed like the only time to do the wrapping while my husband watched them. It became my thing. And now everyone knows that at some point on Christmas Eve I will disappear. To do my wrapping.
    Enjoy!

  17. My grandma would make me wrap all the gifts when I was growing up. She raised me. Then when I decided to tell my cousins what they got she stopped! LOL…no more early mornings wrapping. I like wrapping but have gotten a little sloppy. I like bags ok, but rather wrap.

  18. My wrapping ability makes presents look sad and confused. I have to use bags or get my wife to wrap. I feel really zen when I do laundry.

I love your wrapping paper, Joey! 🙂 I got my cards out the first week and everything in gift bags the second week. Things inside the bag which are extra special get wrapped and still placed in bag. Each person, brothers, Mom, adult children and 7 grandies get about 3 nice gifts adding up to $30 each with stocking stuffers in the bags unwrapped. I look in January for clothing items and stocking stuffers. Toys get bought through out Nov. or early Dec. since wishes change. Hugs!

      Thanks, Robin 🙂
I’m still waiting for a few gifts to arrive, and I’ve still got to get a few stocking stuffers. I’m starting to worry that some things I ordered for my son and my nephew will not arrive before the big day :/ but I know they’ll love them.
