Continuing from last week’s post from Woodruff Place, here are two doors that are new additions to some freshly renovated homes.
I like the yellow one. I mean, it’s a yellow door on a blue house, and that green chair is a great accessory. I’m not a fan of modern aesthetics, but this is a good-looking door all the same.
I’m sure some people prefer its newness and the clean lines of its transom and trim.
The newer traditional door is new wood, stained so dark it almost looks black, but it’s wood. I so rarely see such new masonry details on a home. I am compelled to admire the door’s surround. Also, no crumbling steps here!
I’ll post most of the doors I snapped in Woodruff Place next week, which means I’ll go back to the old stuff I so prefer.

I like the use of color in the first door. I am just not too hip on the big glass insert. It’s too “Come on in everybody. Make yourself at home.” I prefer the more “Wait ’til I see who it is.” sort of door. Like the wood one. Although some glass in it would be nice. Not a big fan of peepholes. The whole newness of the wood door entry has me a bit off balance. The style of the jamb is old country and the door is fancy city. To me. Boy those steps look like they were just poured last week. Both very nice doors.

I agree with you on all counts.
The Mister is deeply perturbed with the new wood door having a glass storm door. I tried to rebuttal this by saying, “Look how much we enjoy our storm door…” and he agreed, but he continued, “It doesn’t belong on that door!” LOL
I, too, have trouble rectifying the use of cheap and expensive materials on the same door, but I’ve yet to see a stunning storm door. If I had, I’d likely buy it.
The yellow and blue are quite cheerful, but the glass is more friendly than I could bear. Maybe they have some sort of privacy adjustment we can’t see from outside, but that visibility would drive me crazy.

I love yellow and that door stands out nicely against the blue of the house, Oh, and the green chair just sets it all off. Very colourful 🙂

Very nice doors. I wish the wooden one was a little lighter, but I do like that they went with a wood door. I like the vibrant color combo of the first one. Pretty cool doors. I’m looking forward to the roundup, don’t worry about repeats 🙂

I agree on the wood stain. I’d say this is the perfect place to use that yellowy oak everyone seems to despise now. It needs a bit of warmth, doesn’t it?

The darker one is nice but I have a soft spot for the blue/yellow combination too. Nice choices 🙂

Both doorways look so fresh! One in a more modern sense and one more traditional. I’ll give you one guess which is my favorite 🙂

Love the yellow on blue. When we picked our house colors, we used an cream color siding with Wedgewood blue trim. The home builder was surprised at the choice, but we all liked the results !

Now see, that sounds absolutely lovely to me! Blue and yellow are always a good combo in my book! I have a lot of cream and blue goin on INSIDE my house, though, so I may well be biased.

Ooo lovin’ the blue and yellow! I’ve always loved that combination of colors. I’ve used yellow throw pillows on a blue couch. Never seen it on a house like that…super cool!

I really like the transom on the first one and the door and surround of the second one. Now, back to the transom – I could see a really nice piece of stained glass in that spot. 🙂

I like both doors, but I’m more of a traditional raised panel front door girl than a yellow “the dentist will see you now” sort of girl. [I kid you not, that yellow door is exactly like the one at our dentist’s office!] And now I’m off to follow the link and look at more doors.

The idea of lots of glass in a door seems nice, but I agree with Benson. It certainly doesn’t provide much privacy. But overall, I like both doors.
