In terms of Indianapolis neighborhoods, I’m a fan of Irvington, because of the houses. The old, beautiful houses in historic districts make me swoon, you know how I do.
The doors on the front and both sides of the church are the same, but I frequently drive by this west side set, so those are the ones I captured.
Irvington Presbyterian church is a beautiful building and I love its doors.

What part of town is Irvington? Never heard of it, that is a neat looking church!

Gotcha, I know where Butler is :). I haven’t been anywhere in Indy but downtown the last few times I was there!

St. Louis has a lot of neat architecture as well. It’s neat to go into a lot of these century plus old buildings and imagine what they might have been like before slumlords took them over to rent to the urban poor. I got off track there for a minute. Lol. I do enjoy these older buildings though.

I love that Church. Merely the picture gave me Goosebumps. A handhewn stone church with dark hard wood doors and small openings,just ripe for either the dispensing of blessings or crossbow fire. Personally I think you win the # for Today.

Really? I think they’d be awesome. Normal house in every other way, those huge medieval looking doors to the bedroom. Although that might make people think I’ve got like a dungeon in there, so maybe not.

Yes, I’d say it’s a good aim to English Gothic, but without much detail. Perhaps the Presbyterians don’t like to overdo embellishment? lol 😉

I like the beautiful stained, wooden doors with metal hinges. The quadrants of stained glass intrigued me since usually churches have some paternal or design in their windows, Joey. I liked the stone and the “keyhole” arches on either side of the door.

Keyhole windows inside the pretty arches were already mentioned, oops! I like to leave original comments, Joey. I go to a Presbyterian Church and it is nice but the building is beautiful and the sanctuary plain. You may be “on to something” with that comment. 🙂

Oh, GORGEOUS doors! I particularly love those little Arabic doo-dahs on either side. They look like little windows to shoot arrows out of at heretics or something.
