Share Your World #6

Oooh! From Inside the Actors Studio! Fun!

  1. What is your favorite word?
lollipop — it’s fun to say — and parapluie (French for umbrella) for the same reason
  2. What is your least favorite word?
    no
  3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
    connections
  4. What turns you off?
    bullshit, bigotry, exclusion
  5. What is your favorite curse word?
    fuck
  6. What sound or noise do you love?
the sound of the orchestra tuning up
  7. What sound or noise do you hate?
    keening
  8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
    anything artistic
  9. What profession would you not like to do?
too many — ocular surgeon, for one
  10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
I don’t think it works like that. I don’t believe in Heaven or Hell. I don’t like the idea of spending eternity in such a refined space as Heaven and y’all know I hate to be hot. But ya know, if that’s how it goes, “Welcome. How was your trip? Can I make you a drink?” is always nice. I’ve long imagined loved ones would welcome me, and my cat would jump into my arms. I’ve long assumed I’d return to earth again. Maybe get promoted.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
This last week, I am grateful for the pleasure of good friends, for my parents being alive, and for the strength of the women in my life. This week, I’m looking forward to the long weekend.

“parapluie”—Yes! I’ve always loved that word too. And I’ve never wanted to be an eye surgeon either. Just not the place I want to be messing around in with sharp tools.

*laughs* now I see what you mean! I love that word, parapluie! So fun to say. Enjoy the long weekend when it arrives 🙂

Joey what fun answers you had. Eye surgeon would be bad in my book too. 😀

I think being any kind of surgeon wouldn’t appeal to me!

Some great answers Joey. I love parapluie as well and haven’t heard it for ages!

I can tell you had fun with these 🙂
Parapluie is good, I’d add pamplemousse too – if we’re doing multisyllabic French words that begin with the letter P.
I had to look up Keening; yup I’d agree with that. I can’t mess with eyeballs either, not even for contact lenses.

Oh my. This is a good un. Well my most favorite word would be melancholy. It is neither happy or sad and is a blue gray sort of word. Least favorite is maybe. Yes or no I can deal with but maybe? Decide already. What turns me on? Well I would have to say a sunrise or sunset. The start or end of a day is damn near sexual. Liars put me in very bad humor. I have to admit when I get rolling I swear like 2 drunken sailors. My favorite is more a phrase “Mother fucker Osmond Brothers”. For sound I am with you,but it must be in person. Artificial sound won’t work. Shrieking. Archeologist. Bill collecting. Well I do believe in Heaven and Hell and when I get there I hope God says to me “They are waiting on you.” Well another fine post. Thanks.

I like that the word Pavilion came from the French, “Papillon.” Butterfly wings spread look like a tent or pavilion, Joey! Your word for umbrella is a fun one, too! 🙂

  11. I like your #1. I may have to learn French. That is such a fun word to say, at least how I’m trying to say it. I wasn’t familiar with the word keening. Blogging is a great way to learn new things!

Never really thought about it, but the sound of an orchestra tuning up really is lovely! There’s something weirdly magical about it.
I, myself, love the sound of anything sizzling in a frying pan, or the crunch of gravel underfoot

Thanks. You know, I don’t like the sound of gravel underfoot, but I like the way it sounds in the car…Not a fan of sizzling, either. But you know, you’ve just proven to me that probably everyone likes different sounds, and that’s really interesting! 🙂 You think someone likes the sound of nails on a chalkboard? Hmmm….

      • Pistachios says:

Lol there’s probably a masochist or someone out there who does like the sound of nails on a chalkboard.
I do like the sound of driving over gravel too, so we have that in common at least 😉

“Maybe get promoted” – That would be nice, but promoted to what might bother me. There’s lots of things out there that seem better than what I have that I wouldn’t want. I’d kinda like to hear “your workshop is over there?” but I guess they don’t have much need for furniture.

I always enjoy your answers. I read them and my mind goes blank. Maybe I’ll play along? I don’t know…there may be a lot of blank answers. Maybe I should blog later in the day when my mind is actually functioning.

  15. Now you mention it “lolipop” is a fun word to say. I will try to use that word today.

Lollipop! Why didn’t I think of that one?? And the sound of an orchestra tuning up always gives me the best kind of goos bumps as I anticipate the beauty soon to come.

That heaven-or question sure is a good contemplator, Joey. I don’t see it as a confined space when I imagine the What If. In my mind, it could be a huge golf course with my best buddies one day and a small room with a handful of the most interesting conversationalists I’d never met the next. Ya know? I sure like your welcoming moment, though.

  23. “Welcome. How was your trip? Can I make you a drink?” Since it’s heaven, the bar will be fully stocked with whatever one can think of. I like the image of God being some saloon barkeep cleaning a glass with a rag.

Does remind me of a part of Dar Williams’ song “Alleluia”:

Hey God, we’re the bad kids, we’re so nasty, mean and vile
God looks like a guidance counselor, God’s got that smile
God says, how could this be, that’s really odd
I guess I’ll have to check my records, silly me, you know, I’m only God
    Alleluia

But there’s got to be more to death than surfing all the time
