Snowy Tuesday Blessings with a Cuppa

Oh I get to introvert today, y’all.
The boy one is here today, but he’s introverting, too.

Isn’t it nice to sit in silence?
Isn’t this coffee wonderful?

It’s snowing outside.
So peaceful.

It’s also 21 feels like 9, and Sassy didn’t wear a coat today. I didn’t notice this until we were at the bus stop, so if you’re wondering who all these coat-less idiot children belong to, or what kind of negligent parents they have, I’m part of the problem.
I said, “I hope your bus breaks down and you freeze to death.”
She said, “Thanks, MOM.”
But then, when her bus came, I kissed her, wished her a happy Tuesday, told her I love her and added, “I hope your bus doesn’t break down so you don’t freeze to death!”

Then I sighed the long, heavy sigh of weary mothers on a Tuesday morning. Too big and cool to wear a coat to school, just like her brother.

Moo’s bus hasn’t been on time a single day this year. I mean, every morning, usually at 6:30, an automated call comes in to tell us Moo’s bus will be late. Sometimes the call comes in when it’s actually time to go to the bus stop. We’ve learned that a late bus sometimes means an early bus, a late bus, or no bus at all.
One cold January morning, Sassy’s middle school bus picked up all the elementary kids because they were still standing out there an hour later.
So when the automated call comes in, one of us drives Moo to school.
I’ve spoken to a lot of people about the bus situation, but there is nothing I can do to make more people want to drive a school bus.
Driving Moo to school is a brief but perilous journey I do not enjoy during the height of rush hour, but I’m grateful for my car, for precisely this reason.

As the snow comes down and the roads ice up, I sure am glad I don’t need to go anywhere today.

    Sharing a cuppa at this particular moment myself, all three human littles of my herd shoo’d out the door with their respective rides. I’m praying I can introvert today, but the pantry and freezer cry out for a Costco run. No weather excuse here…I’ll send you some of our Southern CA warmth. Enjoy the day!

    Oh my goodness it is weathering here today, too. And I get to introvert with you all today because Mom is home “resting” after my brother and SIL went home from a week’s visit yesterday.

    Tuesday is SSSLLOOOWWWW..Im waiting on my computer to finish doing many things (probably get those done by..Thursday..? Hopefully anyway.
    Waiting to hear if theres more news about grandpa (stage 4 prostate cancer. Hes refused the chemo as itd only add about 10 months to his expected 2 years, and would make him very sick much sooner,) waiting to hear about favorite uncle (whose cancer has magically gone away and is expected to live another 20 years or so ( I think I told you about that..)
    On the other end of things, my back is better. I spent most of last week not being able to reach the floor without needing assistance getting back up, so this is pretty great. The Cats are enjoying their new climb-y thing, so thats been fun, and I generally feel better about life in general and am expecting more from myself in the coming warmer months (whenever that is :P)

    So tuesday is ok. So far.

    I am just watching the world go by having a cup my self. That word cuppa always seems as though it should be followed by tea and spoken in a very proper British voice. Unless it’s a Chandler novel in which case it should be followed by Joe in a decidedly un-British accent. How can anyone chose to go outdoors in this weather without a coat. Oh the glorious immortality of youth. Tell the Mister that the theater with the electric recliners is petitioning to get a liquor license. Now that would be interesting. The last time I had liquor in a theater I had to smuggle it in.

      The only theater I would require alcohol would be for a play or a musical. There is a theater in town where you can order food and a drink. That would be fun with the right movie.

        This joint is the Galaxy Stadium 14 on 96th st. It has reserved seating only. I don’t require alcohol it is just nice.

          I understand. With the price of admission today one would hope to pick something enjoyable. Now I have left a movie wanting to drink a few times. Take the movie The Hurricane for example. It had a great cast, but it was so drawn out it was painful. Last movie my sister was ever allowed to pick ever. It should have been a documentary and have at least an hour cut from it. Just thinking about it makes me want to take a drink.

            I am not a big fan of new movies. Before I saw The Force Awakens the first time I hadn’t seen a movie in a theater since Jurassic Park in Albuquerque. These tickets were $25. The 3D effect was cool and all but $25. Good thing we had lunch prior. I shudder to think what snacks cost.

              Shudder would not how I’d describe your reaction to snack prices. You should sneak that in too. It is outrageous to say the least. I like the Keystone Art Cinema at Keystone at the Crossing. It is a nice theater. Also, it is a good place to find movies like Indie Films, more obscure titles that the huddled masses tend to overlook. That is actually where the lil ones and I watched The Force Awakens. We all went and saw The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

                I saw The Force the first time at Glendale, a nice normal theater. I really like the UA on 96th St. Very roomy. I think it would be cool if they could have a system featuring cocktail servers. Sort of like Conseco. Of course a movie isn’t like a ball game so that could be a bit tough.

    I hear you on bus drama. We have our share here too. The morning bus driver complained to my children’s school principal that the kids shouldn’t have fun rolling down a small hill while they wait for her because it takes too long for them get on the bus. For some reason all the highers and uppers and decision-makers thought it was okay to let the bus stop on one of the busiest and most dangerous roads in our city and expect the kids to stand obediently on the sidewalk. I’d much rather they wait far from the road and speeding cars and make their way to the bus as she’s turning the corner. Oh and they’ve never been late for school once. She’s just a miserable human.

      That IS the suck.
      We had similar circumstances here the first year we moved in. The bus stop was literally on the corner of a busy thoroughfare, and it was treacherous. I complained and it was moved to an adjacent parking lot. There had been children (small children) from the nearby apartments, walking through drainage ditches, waist-deep in snow. If you ask me, that bus driver was a useless cow. Current driver goes through the apartments, which yes, may take her 3-4 minutes longer, but it’s infinitely safer.
      I’m sorry you’ve had similar issues.
      I can’t get over how we have four kids who’ve gone to a ton of different schools, and this is the first one we ever had trouble with.
      I’ll be glad when they both go to middle school on the same bus at the same time!

    I am extroverting very poorly today. I do not like being among the people today. I think it is because I am tired and grumpy. You know, how old men get! My lab partner and I were busy trying to get the instructor to be silent so we could tell her exactly the answer type we were looking for on how to do the lab. It was so vague and irritating. We had a good time afterwards, so much so that we were the last two to leave class. A grumpy pair soldiered on. Now I wait for the last class of the day. It starts in two hours. I have the entire classroom to myself. Now it is time to read some before class.

    Teenagers and coats. Having two teens, the issue drives me batty. You’d think my college freshman son would be better about it, but he was wearing shorts in Ohio up until last month. At least he’s been bringing his winter coat home with him when he returns on the weekends. That’s something.

    I love how you turn introvert into a verb. 🙂

      I did not invent the introverting, but I like it too thanks! 🙂
      I suppose it’s not too bad for awhile. Goodness knows I don’t wear a coat to take the dog out, but I wouldn’t actually leave the house without at least taking one. My son came over last night when temps were similar, and he only wore a hoodie as well. :/
      The other two are smarter. Or colder.

    And I thought that macho, “I don’t need a coat” thing was only for teenage boys ???
    I gave up on my t-shirt clad son, daughter was better about winter dressing.☺

    I love the sound of your Tuesday, a nice cuppa and being all snug inside. I was working today and it was cold and rainy, and I actually put my coat on! I never usually bother as I go from the car to the patients’ house, but it was windy, the kind that cuts straight through. I moan like mad when my daughter goes off in the morning without her coat on, and she wears a jumper and blazer, I just have on a short- sleeved thick cotton dress!

    Grateful I don’t have kids at home to worry about getting to school. Did many an emergency drive in when the bus didn’t come, so I feel your pain. They all go through that not-wearing-a-coat thing. ~sigh~ Treasure every irritating moment. Not because you’ll miss them when they’re grown; because you can use the memories to haunt them when they bitch about their own kids. ha!

      Excellent advice! Thank you for not saying I’ll miss it. That annoys me ten ways to Sunday. My oldest is 22 and my youngest is 12. It’s infinitely better than when they were all small, when it was constant manual labor and emotionally exhausting, but when people most often said, “Enjoy it, you’ll miss it.” PSH. Nooooo! lol

    I love this!! Yes! I was thinking the same thing the other day when we had a snow day. I was sitting with a great read and an excellent cup of coffee, a great dinner slowly cooking on the stove and no where to go! Honestly what is better? This is the part I love about winter. 🙂 Happy Tuesday!!

    I did my Tuesday in a chaotic way. Had to go places [driving in snow]. Had to be here for repair guy to come [not on time]. Had to talk on phone more than I wanted to [people sure do jibber jabber]. It was not the kind of day an introvert like myself enjoys. However, today I can introvert to my heart’s content.
