Share Your World #9

Have you done something you truly want to do today?
Well, no, probably not. Then again, maybe — Those grits I made were yummy. I think it’s the ‘truly’ that throws me off. I like having clean things, therefore I clean them. I enjoy flexibility, therefore I stretch. I prefer bein warm and timely, therefore I drove my kids to school.
Ideally, truly, I would have preferred to sleep in, to have morning sex, and then to have been served a nice plate of poached eggs on toast as breakfast in bed, where I then would spend the rest of the afternoon playing Scrabble, reading, and petting my cats.

What can you help the world with?
Oh wow. This Monday is intense, isn’t it? I can really only impact the world with my own behavior and hope it ripples outward. I can and do help people, but not the whole world. Prolly. I can word. I’m good for a few laughs.

If life was ‘just a bowl of cherries’… which fruit other than a cherry would you be..?
Cherries are my favorite. I want to be a cherry. I took a What Fruit Am I? quiz once and it told me I was a coconut. But pineapple is yellow and tart and juicy. (I had pineapple before the grits.) I think I’ll be a Piña Colada. With a cherry on top.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Last week was utter crap. I’m glad I survived. I am still recovering. I will know I’ve recovered when I stop writing poetry and staring at my trees. In an attempt to dislodge the suck from my week, I have used gratitude, power-cleaning, new shoes, ooey-gooey mac n’ cheese, laughter, The Mister’s right shoulder, and a sleeve of do-si-dos.

dosido

This week coming up, I am looking forward to Cletus the Dog Kitten having his front paws declawed. Then I am looking forward to darning the corner of my new chair, rehanging wallpaper, and repainting the door jambs. Yay. If you have opinions about the cruelty of declaw, you should write about that on your own blog, because my hair looks good and the wind is blowing just right and this is not a day to mess with me.

catticus_sprawl

i mean it. my declawed cat will kick your clawed cat’s ass. right after this nap.

I’ve been tempted to get my cat de-clawed. Let me know how it goes. Cherries are my favorite too.

Cletus will be my fifth declawed cat, so I’m not anticipating any trouble. If it goes like the rest, he’ll be skittish and sluggish for a few days while he heals, and then he’ll be fine 🙂

This is a tough one. I have nothing to contribute, except maybe some chocolate and peanut butter brownies in the oven. Oh a pina colada does sound pretty good. Anais Nin? Isn’t she the author who wrote a few “soft porn” books some years ago? Yes I read a couple,an ex owned some.

I do. I’m so happy for you! I could go for a Norweigan shag…but I bet you mean a kind of tobacco and not sexing some sinuous, blonde hottie…
The weather here is freakishly April-like. Is it the same there?

I have declawed two cats and will never do it again. I know, you didn’t ask but I wouldn’t be true to myself and the kitters (that’s my new word of the week) if I didn’t say so.
I didn’t do much I really wanted to do today. Crown prep, new filling, helped Mom, etc.
I laughed about you as a coconut!

Love this! I too have had a sucky week. It sucked so hard at times I had to hold my breath and count to a hundred.
    10 hundreds!!
I love to hear how you cope with your suck…
I too am having a nice hair day. Maybe when all the clients call at work and want their jobs finished TODAY, I can just show em my hair and say, “Yeah, nice ain’t it?”

    Declawing? Eeeewww.
Rhonda told me about this practice and I couldn’t believe it, I think you’d get prosecuted for animal cruelty here if you tried that.

I like to comment then read your other comments, Joey. My waking up included none of your favorite morning activities. I made breakfast, ate it and hurried off to where I clock in at 6:55 am 4 days a week. Fridays we clock in at 5:55. I miss said activities.
My best friend has two de-clawed cats. They are happy, playful along with lazy. Her older cat likes to chew on my hair while we watch shows. She DVR’s, our favorite show, “Elementary” and for past 3 weeks we watched, “War and Peace.” (Very good and addictive. 🙂 )
I think your right to care for cats the way you want to supersedes all. I imagine all of us who love you here, will rally round with their wagons!

      Thank you, Robin xo
I looooooved War & Peace — as did The Mister and Sassy. I look forward to the same people making other shows. I forget what they were, but Imma watch’em!
Cletus will be my fourth declawed cat, in addition to the one I grew up with. I’m not worried about it at all, but I REALLY appreciate your support. All cats are different — my first two kitties were not declawed and they were not destructive.
My week probably won’t include any of the ideal things, either. I may well make some poached eggs on toast for lunch this week tho 😛
Your mornings sound rough. When’s quittin time?

  24. My world is way too boring after reading this. I love bing cherries and eat my weight in them between when the beginning and the end of the season. No cats here because I don’t want to darn the edge of my chair. But, I’d love to help with your painting. 🙂

Thank you, very kind of you.
The declaw went well. I have declawed four of six cats I’ve had long-term, and the one I grew up with was declawed as well. I think each cat is different, as are their people.
My cats have always responded by being tender and clingy for a few days (as they heal) but I’ve never experienced any bad behavior after.
