Share Your World #11

How many siblings do you have? What’s your birth order?
I’m number one, so yes, I am an only.

In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?
I’d rather be a passenger most of the time.

When you lose electricity in a storm, do you light the candles or turn on the flashlight? How many of each do you own?
In the event of lost power, Moo holds her flashlight so I can light the candles. Moo doesn’t let go of her flashlight when the power’s out. The Mister takes our flashlight and does manly things outside. (I dunno.) We own one flashlight. But we have them on our phones, too, so I guess we have three. I don’t know how many candles we have, more than a dozen.

List at least five of your favorite types of animals?  (any animal to domestic to wild to marine life)
Ooh! FUN! Cats and dogs. Giraffes, sheep, chickadees. Fantail goldfish and manta rays and Beluga whales. Elephants, foxes, goats, red pandas, and squirrels.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
From last week I’m grateful for good friends, good food, good books, and long walks. This week is a full one: The boy one for stir-fry tonight, Taco Tuesday at our friends’ house, Thursday Moo has an art show, Sassy performs on Friday.

Cee’s Share Your World is a weekly feature and all are welcome to play along.

The question about candles + flashlights reminds me that we’re getting toward tornado season when power outages are a given. I’d better check our supply of both items, although now that phones have flashlights in them there’s always a light close at hand. [Or in hand, I guess.] Good safety reminder! Thank you.

Me too! I live on the side of the street that loses power less often, but it’s good to be prepared. You’re welcome, although it’s really Cee we should thank 🙂

Manly stuff LOL, like making sure there is no debris in the yard or big tree limbs hindering a pathway out of the driveway for our significant others :). Making sure nothing is hanging off the house, you know manly stuff!

Yea! Share Your World Monday. Today I am ready for it;after a couple of beers. I hope that doesn’t discount my answers.
    I have 3 older and 1 younger.
    I always have to drive.
Both. We have 3 flashlights and a whole bunch of candles. We are fortunate. We hardly ever have power outages. But when we do I prefer candles;so much more atmosphere than a flashlight.

  4. For me, candles are the best part of power outages. ☺That, and the challenge to keep warm. Hanging blankets over doorways, boiling water on the stovetop, making a fire, etc. It’s like indoor camping to me, and I’m always disappointed if the power comes back too soon. I know, strange ?

With the back up battery that can charge my phone 4 times over, and the solar/crank powered emergency radio that picks up am/fm, and the NOAA AND shortwave radio stations that I can charge things with via usb, the headlamp, and the penlight that I carry on me (not to mention the floodlight that can light up a room that sits on my desk JIC,) one could argue that the “power” never really goes out by me…LOL
But yes. We go out to see that theres no downed power lines, no fires, no major debris in the driveway..and that the car isnt stuck under tree parts. 😛
And teh zombies..? I have an 8 foot privacy fence with plenty of extra wood. I can turn this place into a fortress in under an hour. LOL 😉
I have candles too..but for storms..I use them last. Good for cooking. Not much else. If I hafta use them, I usually just opt to nap instead..:P
    You know how I roll. 😛 ;D

OH! And Im grateful my driveway is getting fixed, for FREE…at some point. I think this week. I forget. LOL 😛

Yep. Hunkering down for a few days is only a bag away, for me. And if I HAD to in a SHTF situation, GTFO is an option too. At least for me. Ma…not so much.

Then again, Ma would probably just drag me off to some relatives place if that were the case. LOL 😛

I have three flashlights…the standard D-battery kind, the mini find-my-way-to-the-bathroom kind, and the super duper bright light that comes from the cell phone kind. That last one will blind you.

Luckily we don’t have many power cuts, but I love to light candles anyway as they look so pretty! 🙂

I think so, mmhm. A lot of them don’t blog or they have specific topical blogs, so they answer here, chattily 🙂
      Do you do the SYW?
Mmm, pie. I don’t know. I really love pecan pie and key lime pie and meringue pie and I just can’t choose 😛 How about you?

Funny I read this while we are in a nasty storm! Hopefully we don’t lose power because I have no idea how many, if any, functional flashlights we have.

  12. You’re my twin, Joey (minus a couple of decades). I’m first born, prefer to be a passenger in the car, candles in a power cut and even most of your choice of animal etc. 😉

I love your energy when you got to the question about which animals you love, Joey. I also enjoyed how you mentioned Moo won’t give up her flashlight but her father, your husband needs it for something “?” outside! I love that you are funny even without trying. You are spontaneous fun all as good as monkeys in a barrel game.

Yes! Cats were at the top of your list…in my opinion, they are the superior animal 😉 I always wanted to be an only child, I hated having to share. At one point my two sisters and I had to share the same bedroom–serious torture!
