P is for Pansies

I wish I were a tulip, but I’m a pansy.

You can take quizzes on what flower you are — I’m a lily. I don’t feel like a lily at all.
I feel like a pansy.

For people who don’t know the names of flowers, I have taken some photos from Pixaby. I hope that’s helpful. These are pansies:

Spring is all decked-out in pansies.
I don’t plant pansies in the spring.

You see, much like me, pansies can’t take the heat.

Pansies will take a freeze, they’ll even hunker down in the snow. For a few months in spring, their happy lil faces smile at you, but then as the days grow longer and hotter, they start to look angry — and then they simply shrivel up and die.

I don’t care what the quiz says, I feel like a pansy.

It’s gonna be some ridiculous temp again today, like 83 or somethin. Bleh.

Any flowery thoughts to add?

I’ll trade you the unbearable 83 for a cool, windy 55.

I bought “winter pansies” in later summer a couple of years ago. When it appeared the pansies were dead, I left the pot on the patio and covered them with another pot. Then we had the polar vortex winter, when “frozen tundra” had a special meaning. I don’t remember why, but I went out onto the patio some time in March and discovered the pansies were alive and green. I couldn’t believe it. Funny, though, as soon as it warmed up, they died for good. Perhaps that’s why they called them winter pansies.

I will totally trade you weathers!
Yeah, pansies don’t mind winter much at all, especially if they’re sheltered a bit. Best planted in the Fall so you can enjoy them off and on until it’s hot.
I remember the polar vortex winter 🙂

  3. Good thing you took awesome pics (they do look like faces); reading very quickly, your blog statement was one alphabet away from you being underware 😛 especially if you type on cellphone with autocorrect on.
    Just kidding!

I’m a wildflower. “Gorgeously untamed and spontaneous… with many colorful sides to my personality.” Okay, I can live with that! Fun quiz.

Apparently Im an Iris, a “symbol of Faith and Wisdom.”
Almost made me spit up my morning drink 😛
But I guess if I HAD to pick a flower to be itd probably be the great white trillium, because its pretty 😛
Obviously my wisdom on the subject is nil so personality wise that may be a horrendous mistake…LOL

      Trillium is pretty.
I’m glad you didn’t hurl. You are wise, there is that. And you dunno, maybe the quiz people were speaking of your faith in caffeine 😉

    Uh, I’m a Lily?
“Graceful and elegant, you have an inner peace that immediately puts people at ease. You are poised and refined, but also warm and generous. You have a very nurturing soul, and you love sharing your inner beauty with those around you.”
    Not.

That was mine, too! Stupid quiz. I’ll agree on parts of it. I do put people at ease. People love me like cats that love people who hate cats. lol
      I’m nurturing.
      That’s it.
      Graceful? Refined? Elegant? PPPTHBBBT! 😛

LOL. Yeah, I’m not graceful, elegant, or refined. I don’t have any inner peace (I wish!) and I’m not poised.
But like always for these quizzes, sometimes all the options suck. 🙂
Also, hahahaha on the cats thing. I usually say that about dogs. They always know when people don’t like dogs and that’s the person they gravitate toward. But then again, people who don’t like dogs are ridonkulous.

I have a friend who doesn’t like dogs. Lol She denies it, and is always pleasant to my dog and those of our friends, but you can just tell, she doesn’t like them. When discussing other people’s dogs, she frequently says “damn dogs!” so you know, at least she’s nice about it. And dogs, well dogs don’t care, cause why should they, they’re dogs! 😀

I got iris, which was nice, but I would rather be a rose! Those pansies are beautiful Joey, full of vibrant colour and bursting with vitality! I think that suits you nicely (apart from the heat thing of course)!!!

  17. For some peculiar reason (which I didn’t investigate), in Slovenian language these beauties are called ‘mačehe’ which is also the exact same word for ‘stepmothers’. Go figure…
