Tottering Tuesday

It’s another cool and rainy day here in The Circle City. I am loving this weather. Sure my grass is too tall and the dog smells a bit more corn-chippy than usual, but I love the weather. Everything is so much greener in the rain, isn’t it?

I want the windows open and my family wants to be warm. It’s upsetting how they gang up on me and close the windows.
“Everyone has to freeze so you can enjoy your precious fresh air?!?”
He says it with such spite.
The Mister acts like 48 isn’t great sleeping weather, putting his hoodie on and yanking the strings until only his nose can be seen. I tease him that he should move back to Georgia and he threatens to sleep on the couch.
He wins.
I don’t sleep well without him now.

The Mister was up all night finishing a term paper of epic proportions and he didn’t write it from bed.
I woke up constantly, aware of the vacancy. I reached for him repeatedly, subconsciously, how we do in the night, but he was never there.
I had a nightmare that made no sense, wandered out to The Quiet Room, said things. I left my earplugs in, so I probably yelled things. Maybe nonsense. I don’t recall. He said things too, but I have no idea what, because earplugs. I went back to bed.
Time and time again I woke up and went back to sleep, until eventually the sky was light and the birds were singin. Dawn. Oh the dreaded dawn of 6:20. What a cold bed.

When the dog finally woke up, she met us in the kitchen, no more enthusiastic about morning than we were.
Me, up before the dog. There is nothing right about that sentence.

I picked up a coffee, took the girls to school, voted, ate breakfast, walked the dog, and became an expert on identifying invasive honeysuckle bushes…

*sobs* but it’s so pretty!

Somehow it’s lunchtime, and yet I feel I only just awakened. I have one more errand to run, and my stomach thinks I should add food.

How’s your Tuesday? Are you tottering, too?

I am glad you like this weather because it ain’t my fave. Where is the sun? I don’t totter on Tuesdays but I may wobble on Wednesday.

The sun is slightly to your right? LOL I dunno. Don’t care much about sun. (But I do need some good light if I’m to capture some doors!)
      Have a good one! 🙂

  2. One would have to put feet to floor in order to totter. It’s 6:25 AM in Hawaii and the house is still silent. No way I’m messing that up. Cheers to those that have already eaten lunch!

I hope tonight is more restful for you. I love the green too, just hate it has to be accompanied by all the humidity hell.

It was a beautiful sunny day here, and warm. Perfect, just the way I like it. Not too hot. not too cold!
I hope that the Mister was happy with his paper after all that work on it! 🙂

This isn’t my favorite kind of weather, but since I have to be inside anyway, I don’t much care. I could deal with a week of cool rainy days if it turns warm and dry on Saturday.

I think it’s going to stay cool, but I do remember thinking one day this week was supposed to be sunny. I hope you get a warm & sunny day off 🙂

I am tottering a bit too. Some days are like that.

I, too, like it cold when I sleep, but during the day, I’m usually cold and need it warmer. Such is my internal thermostat.

  7. I’m fine with cold rainy days. It keeps the loony neighbors in.

  9. Yes, everything is prettier in the rain and the rain makes everything live longer. I know how you feel about sleeping in an empty bed, I hope you have a better sleep tonight.

Hey Joey, I hope your Tuesday improved. Mine was tottering a bit at work today, but then I went for a massage. Life is better now…ahhhhhh!

Tottering – that’s a really good word for it. The Princess has cheerleading at 6am every morning (I really wish I were kidding about that), which means a 5:30am alarm for me, and no coffee fairies. I really need to figure out setting the clock on my coffeemaker. I pushed myself through a run, forgetting the workout I also had to face, otherwise known as a trip to Costco. Tottering…definitely.

I like rain a lot. I always bought my 3 kids rubber boots and we sloshed around as long as we could, Jamie even got himself in the paper with his slicker on as he rode through a huge puddle on his Big Wheel. I am not sure how they knew to look on our street but it was in the paper!
I hope your Mister’s paper came out well. I have a pile (really truly do!) on the other side of the bed. I roll into the pile and snuggle sometimes, wishing to have it filled with a real man someday. Not one that lasts only a few years or even 13 years. . . I hope you never send him to the sofa either! 🙂

Rain slickers and rubber boots FTW! Yes! Apparently, this year, Sassy became too cool for a raincoat. I now know I am uncool, as I have a raincoat. :/
16 years and no sofa sleepin here. We don’t go to bed angry. So far, miss a lot of sleep, but go to bed understood. I had a “Fake Jake” pillow arrangement for when he would travel. On the one hand, it never snored. On the other hand, it wasn’t comforting or sexy. 😦
I hope you find someone worthy of your partnership. You’re a treasure.

I had the same kind of night you did … drifting in and out of a restless sleep.
… but I wasn’t tottering today. I was shivering too much because the weatherman was materially wrong about today’s forecast temperature and I went out for a 2 hour bike ride dressed for the forecast weather – not the actual bone-chilling day we had.

Remind me of this whine in July when I’m melting in the heat and humidity :/

Up before the dogs!? How sad. I make it a point to never rise before the cats. They, however make very sure that I get up (or I make hubby get up, to be more accurate) immediately after they wake because keeping their bowl filled is our most important job. Btw..fling those windows back open. That what hoodies were meant for.

  16. I kinda like the rainy days, and I’m loving those cool nights. Before long, we’ll be complaining about the heat of summer…so, there’s that ! Enjoying this Spring….a lot. ☺

If it was up to me, we’d have had the windows open constantly since about March, but Rhonda doesn’t seem to have acclimatised to the local weather yet, (despite telling me that the climate in Michigan is similar to the one here) possibly due to the higher moisture content in the air.
I come home sometimes and the windows are all closed and the central heating is on. In May!
I can’t breathe some days, it’s so stifling in there, I really hope she adjusts soon or I’m gonna melt!

Well we’ve been hangin out around 10-12C this last week, so once the sun goes down, I close all but one window, but I’ve been tempted already to turn on the AC, because a few weeks ago, we stayed around 27 for several days. No heat. Not this time of year. It’d have to be freezing! lol

I just stared at the picture of the lovely grass…. I hope some of the rain comes soon. The drought here has set in and well, we have enough just for about a month.

  20. I sleep in an empty bed every night, except for the cat who may sleep next to me, or on my pillow, wrapped around my head and occasionally poking her rear claws into my scalp, try to stay in place I guess. Or maybe she secretly wants to keep waking me up with the scalp pain. Food doesn’t seem to come into my head, or my stomach for that matter, until it’s dinner time and I realize that I haven’t eaten all day. Hmm.

45 degrees here tonight I bet you are loving this stuff :). My grass is almost as tall as the maple trees now because of all the rain!

  23. Could I send you some of my gray, cloudy, rainy, cold in the 40’s, days because I am really tired of them and am longing for some sun and heat to bake my bones. If your hubby heads to Georgia for some heat, after he gets that A+ on his paper, have him swing by because we could complain all the way about this weather. 🙂

    • joey says:

Haha! He doesn’t want to go to Georgia, either, cause he hated the heat as well, but his blood didn’t seem to thicken as much as mine upon our return. (Also, he never has hot flashes. Ever.)
And yes, I would trade you for more cool, damp days 🙂
