I used to ignore my weather app.
It was always wrong.
The Mister would say things like, “It’s gonna get down to 58 tonight!” and I’d be all, “Really? My phone says 74.” Then I’d look on the computer and he’d be right.
My phone app would say, “You can just wear a sweater” and then I’d get in my car and she’d say, “Bitch, shoulda worn a coat.”
One day I looked at the weather app and it said it was sunny and 90 and it was raining and nowhere near that hot.
I said things like, “It sure doesn’t feel like -11…You’d think it’d feel colder than this.”
“Is it sposta rain?” I’d ask The Mister. He’d say, “Look at your phone.”
My phone had the worst weather predictions ever.
I decided looking at the sky, asking FIL, and checking my laptop — all much more effective means to determine upcoming weather conditions.
I moved my weather app to the last icon screen and pretended it wasn’t even there.
Then one day, Moo asked what Saturday’s weather looked like and we both checked our phones. I said, “84 and sunny,” and The Mister said, “77 with rain.”
“Told you my phone dunno the weather.”
My app put me in Lawrence. That’s my community in Indianapolis, my neighborhood.
People say they live in Irvington or Broad Ripple or whatever, but they’re all Indianapolis proper.
Did you know there’s a Lawrence in Kansas, too?
There sure is.
We don’t have the same weather you know.
Five hundred miles makes a huge difference.
I may have set my weather app to Lawrence, Kansas.
But now I’ve chosen Indianapolis.
There’s no Indianapolis in Kansas. I checked.
Happy Friday Everyone!
Well, at least you were able to fix it. My phone never seems to update the weather, so when I look at my phone (you know, that quick glance at the weather?) it’ll say something ridonkulous like it’s 74 degrees out when really it’s 102. Then I go back and look a little longer and realize that the phone hadn’t updated the weather for the last eight hours. WTF.

I don’t get alerts like I used to on my phone. I always check the temp before I go out. This morning I left about 8 AM and it was sunny. By the time I got to Marsh at 63rd and Keystone it started storming. I could see what appeared to be a twister south of us;up in the sky. Now that would have been a good time for my Damn phone to whistle or beep or at least vibrate. And the only thing I wanted at Marsh they did not have.

OMG, Benson, I mean to tell you, there was a roar with that storm that passed my house! I was afraid, and I almost never fear a storm. It scared me so much I put on pants and took the dog to Moo’s closet until the house stopped rattling. As I walked by the window, all I could see was sideways rain and sticks hitting the window.
Did it flood in Broad Ripple while you were out that way? I’m glad you’re alright.
Marsh is so disappointing.
I didn’t get an alert, either, but that’s because I turned mine off.
Tree across the street snapped in two and there are limbs all over. My sunflowers were pretty much demolished. 😦
Bad storm. Bad. I think it was a twister. I didn’t see a funnel cloud, but that was more than 60mph winds here.

Wow. I am glad you guys are safe. A tornado was sighted at 56th and Springmill Rd.. I think that is what we saw at 63rd. The only reason I went to Marsh was they supposedly carry a Romanoff product I wanted. There were some really deep ponds on 63rd. I made it to the Kroger on Guilford and had just started shopping when the power went out. Naturally the traffic lights were out as well. I got to Kessler and planned on going to College, but there was big old tree across the street. I got to 54th street and the lights were working. While I was driving my Jeep through the biggest puddle by the High School I couldn’t help but think how fun it would be to splash around in it. But I didn’t bring my boots.

Haha! Well I’m glad you were in the mood to splash!
I just got done talking to all my neighbors, gathered out by the down tree.
We all think it was more than a thunderstorm. Mostly because we all heard that sound.

Well I am sure it was. Forgive me but I have this mental image of little Joey;hair all askew; struggling to get her britches on with a dog under one arm. How did your cats handle the noise?
LikeLiked by 1 person
My cats don’t mind the weather, ever, it seems.
I was much like your image, but my dog is 40lbs of awkward, so I don’t often carry her. Indoors, she’ll do as commanded, but I didn’t have to tell her. She seemed to understand sitting on Moo’s shoes was an excellent idea! lol

I leave the location shut off on my phone unless Im gonna be gone a while or to check the weather. It drains the battery real bad. Watching the news for weather here is a joke cuz all we hear & see about are the Twin Cities. Mines not even on their map. Phones OK, if I remember to turn the location on..

I only charge my phone about every two days, so I don’t think Location is as much a pull on my battery.
I understand. I’ve lived in those outlying places that don’t really jibe with the weather.

How funny, I was thinking at the beginning of the post it’s probably detecting the wrong location. Not because I know better, but because I’ve been there. Haha!

That’s hilarious. When winter comes and it’s really cold outside, you could set it to Honolulu, Hawaii, and throw on a lei…and dream…

LOL No thanks, I love winter 🙂

Oh, that’s right. Then you need to set your phone to some small town in Siberia. I’ll choose Honolulu.

Yes, that’ll do. Siberia sounds nice today 😉

Location, location, location. So funny, Joey. I’m with Bikerchick. My last check on my phone for weather was for Bermuda for when we were on vacation and so it pops up first when I want to know local weather. I kinda like that and haven’t changed it.

Hihi, in the similar manner I’ve learned that there is a Roma in the USA. But the weather in ours beats yours. 😀

What app are you using? I use Accuweather and it always gets the location right, although I can’t say as much for the forecast…

I dunno. Whatever came with the iPhone. It says it’s The Weather Channel.

It might be, but I’ve never used it. I’ve used either Accuweather or Weather Underground. Mary uses the Weather Channel app. I’m not overly thrilled with the apps delivered with the iPhone… think my next phone will be an Android…

Crazy phone weather forcasts! Don’t know which one I use, but it lags behind what it’s really doing outside. After a thunderstorm is passed, then it says we’re having one. I love the background of it though…big old lightning strikes and all! … I was worried about ya Joey, with all the tornadoes up there the other day. Then I saw you had posted the next day and figured you survived. Yay! Tornadoes are bad business…been through a few myself.

Yes, there were tornadoes in central Indiana Tuesday and today, but I am still here. Drove through another bad storm tonight, too. Flash floody stuff all the way home. Phew! Thanks for thinkin of me, that makes me feel good 🙂

Thanks for the chuckle. Weather apps can be crazy, even when they’re in the right location. I always used the NOAA mobile page. Then I switched to the NOAA App. They give different forecasts for our neighborhood. I guess I’ll have to check what state I’m in.

Weather predictions are hopeless. The most reliable way to see what the weather is like here is to look out the window.

This had me chuckling and then I burst out laughing!! “Only Joey can write such amusing but fascinating posts. . .”
I went back to March, 2016 and was getting ready to re-blog my Radio Flyer wagon post and there you, Judy and Nia were left response less. I hadn’t replied, this happens but I decided I had to give you a link, send hopefully someone here to enjoy what I normally like to read when it is NOT summer! It has been worse than anybody my past 8 summers. I had 99.89 hours in the recent two week’s paycheck! I have missed back to school backpacks and stories from grandies, cheerleading and football games and practices. . . and my good blogging friends!
Joey, this was so You! Lawrence, can be in Kansas, but if you want to find my friend Joey, look in Indiana! 😉
