I thought I’d go with another one of those churches that isn’t a church, since I’ve found so many this summer.
On Pennsylvania Avenue, The Sanctuary on Penn is not a church that operates as a wedding venue.
I love that. What a clever business-minded way to keep old churches beautiful.
My up-close shot is even worse, so we’ll stop here. I suppose I could have tried to get it when the sun was up, but then, it didn’t even invite me in for cake or cocktails or anything.

Definitely a good use of old churches rather than just letting them decay away!

Darn. Thursday already? Beautiful door and window. There is an old church on Meridian St. that now serves as an apartment building. Also St. Joe brewery used to a church as well. There’s probably others out there as well.

I tell ya, it’s so hot, I am glad I haven’t had too many doorscursions. We’ll get more when the weather’s nice. And we’ll get lunch. 😀

I love this. It reminds me a bit of the one I found last year in Toronto that does this too.
A change in vocation for some of these places makes perfect sense.
The front facade and middle window are just beautiful 🙂

I found out they are closing off the church from the 1800’s that was my childhood parish. Not enough business, even for special events. Heartbroken. Hope they find a use for an elegant old building. This one in your photo…lovely. 💘

Oh how sad. Yes, this is a common problem in the states, isn’t it? There’s a nearby church that’s going through a sorta real estate struggle right now, and I really want it to stay, but one does need question the practicality of $5 mil in repairs for a church that now only hosts about 120 a week…
I hope your old place gets repurposed too.

I love old churches and I’m personally glad you took these pics at night instead of during the day. Warm and inviting.

Too many beautiful little churches are empty that it’s a great idea to use one as a wedding venue. Love the color of that door!

Joey, thank you for the pretty wedding venue with those rust colored painted doors. I so love this and its “semi-circular” window above it. I call those “pie slices.” There are multiple pie slices over that door! 🙂
The stained glass window is pretty with the back lighting!

I like that building with thd brick and stone accents. And, I like the door photo. I like it when the lights are on in the building and we get s glimpse of lies beyond the doors.

Because I’m me I’m laughing at your special phone typo, “Glimpse of lies beyond the doors,” but I totally know what you meant 🙂 Thanks!

Ha! I had no clue. I’m replying while sitting outside with Maddie. My phone only lets me see three lines, so if I don’t catch the typos, off they go.

hey joey – I think it says it is “not” used for weddings?
and love the mood of the night shot – the lights give it a mysterious feel.
