One-Liner Wednesday — Scaredy Cat

“If you wanna go to haunted houses, Daddy will hafta take you. That stuff scares me. I got scared at the children’s museum haunted house, and that’s for kids! The Snow White ride at Disney World scared Mama. That witch is scary! I don’t care how old you are, she’s scary!”

Can’t say they’re my thing either. Actually, to be honest, Hallowe’en in general is not my thing.

I rather prefer Haloween, myself. Or rather, Samhain. Though Im a bad pagan. I just light a candle, say goodnight, and wish things well.

    Happy Holiday joey 🙂

Upcoming A Blessed Samhain to you. But you know, Halloween traditions, and most horror movies, are far from the thinning of the veil. Give me a circle or a Ouija board… not blood and gore and people leaping out with chainsaws! 😛

I enjoy Halloween, but I fully agree with both of you. Over the top horror is just that and not for me–ever. The more traditional things and reasons (thinning of the veil) are my level of spooky enough.

The most frightening ride at D-land is definitely It’s a Small World. Brrr…

I love carving pumpkins. Other than that, on Halloween, my husband and I usually keep our doors locked, the blinds closed and watch scary movies on TV. That’s as Halloweeny as I get.

But there’s nothing scarier than a scary clown.

  7. Not a fan of Halloween, either. That’s at least 3 or 4 of us. We could have a non-Halloween party. 🙂 I’m also not a fan of horror movies these days. Everything is so over-the-top. I remember the good old days when “Wait Until Dark” was considered scary. 🙂

  8. Looking through the comments, and I love Halloween. I’m not in favor of blood and gore. Suspense and the threat behind something is much more satisfying. There is a difference between fear and disgust that gets missed these days.

I am not easily scared but I am a bit circumspect around dark places. As far as Halloween goes I can take it or leave it. When the kids were young we used to have a big party for the friends and cousins. Now I look forward to the days after and the discounted candy.

I’m not into scary stuff, either. My friends want me to go on the haunted trails and crap, and I’m over here like “scary stuff and walking? lol ain’t happening.”

I’m scared of a lot of things now that I didn’t used to be. Wonder if that’s wisdom, or frailty?

AND I AGREE!! I am such a proud wimp when it comes to scary houses or horror movies or even parody horror movies.

Having an anxiety disorder means hating Halloween these days! Also being squeamish. Why can’t we have nice, dry zombies like we used to have when I was a girl? Why do these zombies today have to be all gooey and bloody and bits sloughing off all over the place? I’m for respecting the thinning of the veil and everybody keeping their blood to themselves.
