Back in March, I showed you this yellow stucco house.
I mentioned I’m not a big fan of stucco in Indiana, but this house is yellow and cottage-y and it has a stunning garden in season, and check out that letter box! I said I’d go back to photograph the garden AND I DID.
I was certain it was behind Twenty Tap, so I asked The Mister to drive around there in July. It wasn’t there. Then I was sure it was behind Twenty Tap and drove around there in August. It wasn’t there. Then I was sure it was behind Twenty Tap, so I drove over there in September. It wasn’t there. Then I was sure it was behind Twenty Tap, so I asked The Mister to drive over there in October. It wasn’t there. I hadda break down and tell The Mister about the yellow house and how I was sure it was behind Twenty Tap and how it was like the yellow house had disappeared or I had lost my mind. You know why it wasn’t there? Cause Twenty Tap is farther south than Joeys think.
Suddenly I remembered that time I wasn’t lookin for the yellow house, I was just pickin up food. On a hot and wet August day, I parked on College Avenue and walked all the way to the corner and got upset because Twenty Tap wasn’t on that corner.

I even remember thinking, hm, funny I don’t remember this door…
I had to walk all the way back to my car and drive farther south and walk all the way to another corner. So far when hungry.
Twenty Tap! Benson turned us on to this place and it is now one of our favorite places to eat.
We went again this last weekend, and behold the noms:
Anyway, Twenty Tap is at 54th and College so if you’re lookin for doors, look elsewhere, cause I love that area and I don’t have all those doors. *calls dibs*

Yes, Yes, I’m sure it was prettier last summer, but apparently I was too hot and disoriented to make it. Maybe next year!

Oh, you will have to go back and take photos next summer. That is a lovely home and garden.
As I sit here eating a hotel breakfast and looking at those photos of food, I am thinking I’m in the wrong place.

Quite the house. It looks so English country side. The door is great and I love the pitch on the roof. I dare anything or one to stay up there longer than 10 seconds. Except a Mountain Goat. A Mountain Goat might. That place needs roses. Dozens of roses. Red,pink and yellow.

The front walk is lined with pink roses, this is all I’m sure of.

Stucco does tend to stick out like a sore thumb in our state. This is Indiana people not Florida! Superb use of the camera phone on the doors and of course the food. Twenty Tap is on my to do list next time I’m up that way :).

Don’t you just love it when your brain is sure of something but doesn’t know what the heck it’s talking about? I’ve done it myself often enough. I’ll bet it made for some interesting conversations with the Mister. Ahh….fun times 🙂
That stucco house would stick out like a sore thumb here too. I’m sure those gardens must be a sight to behold at their summer peak.

Yes! Well it’s a good thing I finally confessed to The Mister, because he was the one who said, “Okay, yeah, we’re blocks away from where you think we are.” !!! I’m so grateful, I really thought I was losing it!

I thought I was the only person who did that–insist on translocating a place to another, imagined setting and repeatedly insisting on taking wrong turns to get there. It is a good thing they invented GPS or I would have been lost a long time ago.

Great doors! The food is making me so hungry, I had to skip lunch today, running for a train. I like the garden pictures. Maybe you’ll have a cool cloudy day next supper to go back. It’s right behind Twenty Tap, so it should be easy to find.
I don’t think you can call dibs on doors, least not whole neighborhoods. But, you can have duplicates. On the their hand, I think I’d stop into Twentry Tap for food and forget the doors. “You want another beer?” “Yeah, might as well, Joey called dibs anyway…”

I had to laugh when you described going back to the same area over and over again trying to find a place that just isn’t there. I’ve never done that. Ever. 😉
Did you notice that in the last photo, the side door matches the front door? A very nice house. I’m guessing it looks amazing when the garden is in full bloom!

Wow! Sounds as though you were in need of food and drink by that time that was all figured out! Love the cottage, love the garden, and love the giant knife stuck through the burger. Not sure what that says about me, if anything, but so it is. 🙂

What a charming cottage and garden! I think the garden still looks lovely as well. You can always tell a good garden plan…there are enough structural elements or “good bones” to give it interest, even in the autumn and winter. Loved your pics! 🙂
