Brain Frog Food

Before anyone thinks I’m any meaner than I actually am, I asked Mentor before posting this and she’s FINE with it, because we do enjoy a good laugh, maybe even more at our own expense. No need to have kittens about me makin fun of Mentor. *wink*

(I gave her the flu last month and now when we do laugh and laugh, we also cough and cough and cough.)

Moo calls it Brain Frogs.
Mentor has memory loss due to a head trauma. In dealing with Mentor’s Brain Frogs, one must sometimes be patient as she sorts through her brain to access the information. It’s a bit like a slow browser now and again, but most of the time, she’s so quick no one would ever notice.

One day, while explaining something to me, Mentor reached into the fridge and pulled out my Babybel cheese.
She began to open it and I interrupted her, “Please, don’t eat my cheese.”
She said, “Oh, is this yours? I’m sorry. I thought it was mine. I eat these all the time.”
We had a good laugh.

More time passed and she wasn’t sure if she’d put yogurt in the fridge.
She pulled the plastic container out and examined it, tilting it this way and that. “This does look like something I would eat. I don’t remember making it.”
She continued to hold the container, turning it to view it in different angles, “I do like blueberries and pineapple.” She held the container over her head. “I do have all these things…Still, I’m not sure it’s mine.”
“Do you have containers like that? Is that your container?”
“I don’t know.”
We had a good laugh.

Days passed and our boss announced he’d bought spoons and forks in bulk. He said he’d noticed we tend to eat at work and he thought he’d “be good” and bring his healthy food to eat at work, too. Sadly, when he brought his yogurt, there’d been no spoons. That was his mystery yogurt in the fridge, and it turned before he’d had a spoon to enjoy it.
We now have five hundred plastic spoons and five hundred plastic forks, because such events leave a lasting impression on one’s psyche.

The horror of expecting delicious food when there is no delicious food, well, that’s a trauma.

More time passed and a day came that I was too busy to eat my yogurt, so before I left, I put it in the fridge for another day.

Then I recalled Mentor examining my boss’s yogurt container and how she’d been close to eating my cheese and I decided to leave a note!

brainfrog

I sent it to her in a text as well, you know, for her Brain Frogs.
She replied, “Oh yum, that’s my favorite!”

And then we LOLed and LOLed.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Well when you laugh at yourself you know it is done with love. With other people you never know. Is there a lot of food pilfering in offices? I can relate to brain fog. I have it often. Of course when you mature some smart ass will call it a “Senior moment”.

I don’t know. Her almost eating my cheese is as close as I’ve come to having my office food pilfered.
I think we all experience some brain fog regardless of age, and you’re right, of course.

Ah, the problems associated with sharing a fridge! I worked at a multi-national firm and we had all kinds of interesting food in the fridge.

Hahaha! I’ve gone all Ross on my husband a few times for eating my stuff in the fridge. He likes to claim brain fog, but it ain’t legit.

  8. That made me laugh, Joey. Years ago, when I taught high school, I was amazed that other teachers would sometimes eat other people’s food from the fridge in the faculty lounge. My friend and I would put notes on our food just in case, especially if we’d gone across the street to Baker’s Square for a pie to share. 🙂

I’ve never had food eaten, but a woman once threw out my leftover pizza because she thought it was something she left in the fridge. That hurt.

As long as you can keep laughing 🙂

Hah! But sooo sad about that pizza, man.
My husband still owes me Pyrex from when he left lunches in the office fridge and ‘the cleaning people’ threw them out. (Whoever did kept them, I’m sure.)

I’ve once had two colleagues bring lunch in the exact same red containers. The one who went on lunch first took the wrong one, and didn’t even realise because his partner had packed it, and he didn’t know what was meant to be in it. The one who went on lunch second was just very confused!
P.S. You have very neat handwriting 🙂

Oh how sad! Now and again The Mister will take MY lunch to work and leave me his, and I’m always like, “So much meat…” and eat somethin else! lol

I have to put notes on various things in our house so that the youngest vampire in the basement doesn’t eat it for a snack. Nothing like trying to make something only to find out you’re missing the main ingredient. Maybe he’s just messing with me to see how foggy my brain is….did I buy it? I though for sure I bought it….where is it? I don’t lol, though. 🙂

We have fridge clean-out at work every Friday. If your name and the date is not on your food–it is trashed. I always have my Chobani yogurt (coffee is my fave flavor) at lunch so I am safe. whew! You and Mentor are a riot!
