Excited to find the mailman late to collect from the post box, delighted to stay in my car when it was nine degrees, I rolled my window down and asked him, “Can you take this, too?”
He smiled, “Ma’am, this is The United States Post Office. We take mail.”

Haha! He made my day, he really did. I have so much mail at the end of the day, I have to shove it in sections! 😛

At work, we have a mailman who gets out of his vehicle and delivers to the door. He’s awesome!

We do too, but I don’t always have it ready or sometimes I leave before he appears. His schedule seems to vary greatly.

They may not deliver it to the right address, but they take it.

Our people are not the post office’s best, obvs. 😛

How fortuitous. Brrr…9 degrees is chilly. Glad you were able to mail your letter from your car. Nice mailman! 🙂

Ours would’ve given you the stink eye while he did his job poorly and yakked on his cell phone.

That’s what most of the carriers in our neighborhood are like, too!

Always good to find a postal worker with a good attitude and not going postal. 🙂 Our local post office is the most amazing I’ve ever used. The counter is open from 7-7 pretty much every day and they’re even open on Sunday! How they manage the latter is beyond me, but they all seem to be helpful and happy. What’s not to like? AND it’s only about four blocks from our house.

SO lucky! Ours are almost always shifting personnel. Our local post office has the oldest, grumpiest white man that ever did live. He’s awful.
I usually go a bit north to mail things — that’s where the nice ladies are 🙂 They’re open til 7 on weeknights, so it makes it easy when I leave work late.

If a post office isn’t open until about 7, how can anyone who works get there? The post office where we used to live usually had good people but they, too, got shifted. Sometimes, too, I think they’re grumpy because people treat them badly, but sometimes it’s the other way ’round.

OMG, I ask the SAME questions!
Our office mail comes anywhere from 10am-6pm! If I don’t beat the mailman or if he hasn’t come when I’m leaving, I have to take it to insure it gets out that day. (Not all, just certain types.) But, the office park across the street collects at 4:30 and the one in my neighborhood closes at 5, so stopping midway is really the only way to do it, because I never leave before 5.
I used to think the same things about banking and utilities. People gotta work!

Banks used to be just as bad and maybe still are. But with online banking and ATM’s, it’s not such a big deal. Our post office also has Sunday delivery for some things, which is really different!!

Very nice. We get Sunday specials now and again too, but I don’t think they’re open for service.

Here, there is no door to door delivery. The post office is a 7-mile walk round trip. I long for pony express!

Lawd, that’s some sad, right there. Ugh. Seven miles?!? Gah.

That wasn’t something we thought about when we moved here. Not having a car is good AND BAD! But we’ve managed for over a year and love the area. I think more than missing close stores or transportation, I miss going to the mail box on a daily basis.

Isn’t that funny? So much of life is like that, good and bad in the same format. I am glad you’re happy there 🙂

Yep. the check’s in the mail. I have found the majority of postal workers to be friendly, nice, and helpful. But 9 degrees is just too damn cold.

I once walked in the door of a quiet post office and was welcomed by a man who practically sang, “Greetings and salutations from the United States postal service.” For a second I was certain I walked into the wrong door.

There was a lady like that at the post office in my last town. She was as cheerful as the day is long! 😀 Really brightens the place up, hm?

For several years we had the greatest mailman ever – Bill. He could have been the poster man for customer service. I miss him but hope he’s having a great retirement. 🙂
