#ThursdayDoors — Signs

I love a pretty gate, I do.
You know what really burns my biscuits? Ugly signage.

I know signs are important, city life and all that, but still.
I’m sure somewhere, there’s a graphic artist who’s like, “But I could make the signs much more attractive…”

Please note, there is a vehicle in the Tow Away Zone. And that it is completely ruining my shot. Also, check out the rubbish bins behind the gate.

I am amazed that anyone here needs to be informed as such. I maybe can deal with the water dripping part, BUT! Imagine you’re from someplace roasty-toasty and you move to Indianapolis. Is it even possible you’d ever turn your heat off?!?

And here are some mailboxes, which are certainly doors. I like mailboxes. I always get the mailboxes.

I’m with you on the signs. Do they have to deface the door? And the idiot parked in front of the door. As a Thursday Doors photographer, you should have the right to crush that car. I like mailboxes too – I worked for the Post Office while in college.

I love that first set of gates. They are so Count of Monte Cristo. The tow away sign should at least been color coordinated with the gates. As for the car I say off with its tires.

I’m the first gate, if you really need to put up such an ugly sign, can you put it under the decorative wrought iron instead of right on it? Grrr!!!

Burns your biscuits, hey? I love a pretty gate too and hate to see signs in front of them. Burns my biscuits too. (unfortunately I have a lot of burnt biscuits)

I’m with you on the signs. The first gate should be beautiful, but…

  7. I don’t like ugly signs either, or stupid cars getting in the way of a good photo shot!! 🙂

Nice gates, but I agree that the signs are ugly stuck up on them. The mailboxes…that square thing up above looks like a face! 🙂

  9. A friend worked like crazy for two, three years to organize a tiny urban park on the site of a burned-out building – from design though installation – she poured buckets of blood sweat and tears into that project.

The result was wonderful – raised planters, wrought iron, stone masonry, and century old brick work – and a big ol’ gaudy sign erected by the owner of the adjacent building forbidding skateboarders. That ruined the entire thing for her.

By the way, I congratulation you on handily covering, what is it, 3 prompts with one post? That’s impressive!

Gates..doors, great, signs so in your face not matching… a new business proposition ” Tasteful signs” maybe?

I like gates, fences, mailboxes and other variations of “doors” Joey! I was a little “bad” with my choice, even accidentally posted it on a Wednesday! I don’t know what is going on with my mind, just a little cluttered up, I guess. The first gate is ornate and beautiful, not sure why the dumpsters are behind this but probably due to being out of town? The second gate’s sign was a head scratcher. I love mailboxes and the way these look so nicely kept, no one’s name tag displayed and the tall rod iron fence looks quite elegant. 🙂

I’m glad you like it. I tried to skip Thursday entirely, myself. Felt Fridayish this mornin… So you’re not alone 🙂

My own bins are behind my gate. I would really like some nice way to hide them, but I cannot fathom how we’d do it where they are, and where they are is convenient for both disposal and hauling out. *sigh* I suppose many struggle with the bin issue…

Not sure about disguising bins, if there is a solution (?) Perhaps an “invisibility shield!”
I am glad you had this same feeling, Joey. I even had my Friday wake up time set on my radio alarm clock! Yikes, jumped up and re-,set it so I could fall back into a restless sleep. . . Oh well! Tomorrow is the hard day, listening in break room to pre-Inaugural activities. Easy day; since it is finally almost the weekend!! Yay!

I will be wearing all black today in protest. I’ll miss my Casual Friday jeans, but it’s important to me. Not gonna watch tv. Having date night ❤ It's gonna be a good one now that it's actually here!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Robin 🙂

I appreciate your best wishes and I had a wonderful weekend, thanks for your wishes, Joey. My date (and boyfriend since last May) was super nice and we are not only reading books and commenting, but we bought big puzzle to build together. ❤
I watched Face the Nation this a.m. and was proud of Bernie Sanders still being supportive of the Democrats and Obama, while questioning the negative tirade Trump gave. It shocks me and brings tears to my eyes how disrespectful Trump was all 8 years of President Obama's service. Trump's rant was what my good retired teacher friend, Jenny (who I match made with her 20 years of marriage husband and I cat sit for her. . .) had me listen to. We heard such a negative and derogatory time in Trump's voice of people of government and privilege. The Face the Nation show brought up: "Who did Trump feel he had sitting on his Cabinet nominations and who were sitting on the stage with him??!" You may not wanted to watch it but I hope you don't mind my bringing up our take on this horrible, narcissistic leader. Hugs, Rob

You’d think they could put it to the side on the brick and that people would know what it means. Even put the bit on it. Sigh.

Damn savages! What is this world coming to when you can’t even get a decent photo of a gate without some yahoo who can’t read the sign parking their shitbox in your way?

Well, you’re certainly not gonna miss those signs. They’re SO ugly, SO out of place on those graceful gates, they’ll surely get all the attention they require. Ugh! I like the One Mailbox To Rule Them All.
