#ThursdayDoors — This Mama’s a Night Owl

We slept too late on Sunday. I mean to tell you we woke up well past lunchtime. I sat up first, never a good sign, and asked The Mister, “What time you reckon it is?”
“Mmm 11:30.”
I turned my phone on and gasped, “It’s 1:30!”

Later, much later, the girls and I went out for a lil doorscursion and some shopping.

I pass this joint all the time. I’ve heard it’s cheerful and tasty. Never been in.

I think when you see the hours, you’ll understand why.

Lawd.
I bout never dine out during breakfast hours.
For me to drag my ass out of bed for breakfast, it pretty much takes ten kinds of fruit and bread served with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking dolphins — and to be honest, even that was more about the kids.
Breakfast foods taste just fine for both lunch and dinner, thank you very much.

Still, it’s a cute place, maybe cuter in the summer — but I’ll never know, because who wants to walk around when it’s hot, let alone eat outside?
I’ll tell you who, people who wake up before the sun, jog along the Monon Trail, and say things like, “Let’s be really naughty and get some turkey bacon!”

Not my people.

My people are like, “Ooh, it’s sweater weather (48F), let’s get out and take pictures of doors!” … and then go home to goat cheese pizza and beer.

There was no traffic on the Monon Trail Sunday evening.

This is my Jot. It’s not extraordinary.

That is a cute place. I probably would go, since I’m up so early, like 4 or 5 a. m. ! We go to breakfast quite a lot! 🙂

You sound like my kind of people, but sadly, my brain wakes me up early enough to go to breakfast.

  6. I love the colour scheme, and the name too. It’s inviting. One day you might catch the opening hours by the tail.

Uh oh. I’m a morning person. Got up at 5:00 today, probably about the time you went to bed on Sunday.

You can take any subject and turn it into fun, Joey

This looks like a great place. Of course, I am one of those up-before-the-sun folks, but I love breakfast places.

We went through a phase where we went to breakfast joints. Early in the morning. But then the novelty of pancakes and bacon wore off, and we came to our senses. Still, it looks like a cute place.

What a colorful building! And the name makes me smile:) Hope the food is good?

  13. Early riser here – but I would still be miffed about a restaurant that is closed after 2PM. I suppose that’s because the ONLY joint here in our new town has the same hours – they close after the lunch rush is over.

Holy moly, I never. Not since I’ve had cats can I sleep late. They don’t allow it. And then there’s the gardener who is always up and about. What about your JOB? Can’t you grab breakfast at that cute place on your way to work :)? Your nice boss would love to share, I bet.

Clever you finding an afternoon job! Seriously, how do you manage to sleep in? Animals don’t wake you? Kids don’t wake you? I must be doing something so wrong. No wonder I’m always exhausted. Last night I was so tired I forgot the pizza in the oven and had to throw it out today, but that might have been the sedation I had for a procedure heh.

None of us go to bed early. The cats get crunchies 11pm-12am. Moo usually goes to bed first, and she’s usually the first one up. The first one up takes the dog out and feeds the animals. IF the cat bowl is empty, and it’s not usually. We all sleep late, all of us, if we don’t have a reason to wake early.
If I didn’t have an afternoon job, I’d have a before dawn job and sleep in the afternoon. Yep.
We’re all up early Monday-Friday and we all hate it.

Early rising is so commonplace in Arizona, but that is because of something you would hate: the heat in the summer. People tend to work outdoor jobs from 5 or 6 to 1 or 2. Isn’t that odd?

  15. That cafe looks so charming! But, you’re right. Breakfast food is just as delicious for dinner. My favorite is pancakes for dinner–yum! 🙂

It is very pretty and colorful but I do find those hours strange, even for a breakfast place.
Then again I’m one of those annoying morning people so they’d lose my breakfast business by only opening at 8:00 – WTH! I mean really, I might eat breakfast that late on weekends….
For the record I don’t think turkey bacon is anyone’s idea of being naughty – unless you know someone who has found some bizarre use for it in the bedroom 😦

    LMAO with the turkey bacon.

and many years ago (gosh -decades ago) O made some killer money working at a similar place in Colorado – and not sure if this place is the same – but had some friends that worked at an 8 to 2 place in Orlando and there was a waiting list to work there. – the money was that good.
    love the teal door….

  19. An early breakfast at home I can manage but to go out for one at 8 am is too early for me, too, Joey. I was never a morning person till we had our kids, then I was forced to become one. Now I think I’m too far gone and there’s no saving me. I’m wide awake at seven even if I don’t set an alarm. 😮

You should set up surveillance to see who their clientele is. Who on earth gets up & out for breakfast early?!

  21. There’s a restaurant where my mother-in-law lives that has closes at 2 or 2:30…and opens again at 5 or 5:30 on certain days. We are forever showing up there to eat only to realize it’s closed (she lives in a small town with only a few restaurants…or maybe only this one. I don’t know, it’s the only one we frequent).

I’ve worn glasses for shortsightedness since 15. Now some (ahem) years later I need to put them on top of my head to read. 2017 is gonna be Year of the Bifocals for me I reckon. What a joy to find I’m in such fun company. Had I known that, would have changed sooner 😄😀

I really like the fun and cozy style of this building! I am up early daily, due to work. I would certainly stop by and find out: “What’s cooking, Mama?” 😀

  24. Since retirement, I only get up early if I half to, like going for a sunrise photography shoot and breakfast is not a requirement but good if you find some interesting places or hole-in-the-wall bargain places where the locals hangout. But, sometimes you find a gem and the early bird does get in with a shorter line or wait so if I find a place like that I’d rather get up early to see the door while on the inside rather than from the outside. I know of such places in Honolulu so maybe I shoot doors for a future post from there next month.

  25. I love the look of this place with its pretty colours. It is a shame the opening hours are not right for you. I didn’t get up until 10 am today which is the afternoon for me! In fact!!!

It looks so cute … but the hours are weird and sadly, I’m not a breakfast food person. I love mornings and I’m usually up early to enjoy it, but I’ve never embraced the traditional breakfast. Ugh.

That place is so cute! I hate getting up early, too, especially on the weekends. Sam likes to get up early and go get breakfast with the kids (who always love getting up early). Pretty sure the people at the restaurant think he’s a single dad.

Hey, that’s awesome! The Mister used to take all the kids to McD’s some weekend mornings and let me sleep-in. I loved that 🙂
And yeah, all the mommies in public think, What A Swell Guy 😉
