Regarding your fridge, is it organized or a mess inside?
It’s fairly well-organized. It could be cleaner. Cleaning the refrigerator should be done more often than it is. I often make the kids do it or at least help, because cleaning it usually results in me using boiling water and a putty knife, absolutely baffled by what the hell happened…
One of my photo a day prompts was 11. inside my fridge, so I actually have a photo.
Behold, there’s a hole in the middle where the swate tay goes.

Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?
I don’t mind if my foods touch. I don’t get crazy about mixing it either. When I was young, I used to be scolded for eating one serving at a time. I’m still like this, but I only pay attention to it in public. Last night, I ate all of my rice, then all of my pork, then all of my carrots and onions, and there was no one there to stop me! Mwahaha!

Do you prefer reading coffee table books (picture), biographies, fiction, non-fiction, educational?
I like fiction best, but I like biographies and a good coffee table book.

Close your eyes. Listen to your body. What part of your body is seeking attention? What is it telling you?
My body is happy. I had enough sleep. The girls had an appointment, so the alarm didn’t go off til 7:40. After that my body had a sausage biscuit and a Coke for breakfast, a sunny walk in the park with the dog, and if anything, it wants to go to work early before it loses its momentum!

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
While last week wasn’t particularly notable, the weekend was wonderful. Date night was fantastic, Sassy and Moo both earned gold medals at the string competition, and Sunday was deliciously restful.
This week, I am eager to host dinner with friends we’ve not seen yet this year.

  1. Farmguy also likes to eat one serving at a time, saving his favorite for last. He’s done it since he was a child, too. He says it’s called clock eating. He still does it. 🙂

  3. Swate tay? I think we’ve just had our first serious disagreement!! Tay, yes: swate, no way, Jose!! 🙂 Sounds as though you’ve had a good week and the upcoming one will be good, too. If my alarm ever woke me at 7:40 (provided I’d even set it), it would be a miracle along the lines of the Cleveland Browns winning the Super Bowl. Heck, I’m overjoyed if I sleep until 6:30.

Oh I cannot abide cold unsweetened tea. Unsweetened hot tea is fine, but if there’s ice, it needs SUGAR! 😛
I am definitely better at getting up the later the alarm goes off. SO many years of getting up before the sun, and I never have adapted, Janet. Even when I worked mornings at Starbucks, out the door at 5:10, I had to nap with the babies later. Zzz!
The football reference went over my head, but I think I got your point 🙂

      • I drink mostly hot tea, even in summer, but I take my cold tea straight, too. 🙂 That’s OK. We can agree to disagree, just so it’s good tea. I can’t sleep in and I can’t nap, so it’s “early to bed and early to rise” for me, whether or not it makes me healthy, wealthy, or wise. My husband is a night person, so it’s an interesting dynamic. As for the hapless Browns (my husband grew up not far from Cleveland, they’ve been an NFL team since 1950 and have yet to even make it to the Super Bowl. Only three other teams can (unfortunately) say that.. 🙂

How did you like working at Starbucks?

Our fridge is always organized. Clara and I are both restaurant geeks so we don’t have any choice. I really like your comment about your body. I usually awake every 2 hours. To pee, because a cat woke me up to complain about bed assignments or just because. Some times when I wake up around 4 AM I just decide to stay up. Just because I don’t wanna’ miss anything. Or as you say “I don’t want to lose momentum”.

I bout died that morning you replied to my email at 4-somethin. Wow. They say we need less sleep as we get older…I’M WAITIN. lol
One day I will have a perfectly organized fridge, cause I’ll be the only one dealin with it. 😉

Our frig isn’t the most organized, but it’s clean. My mind is the body part seeking attention right now. It’s needs to reassess a few assumptions, and doing so is putting it into overdrive. Not all that mellow in this moment, but I will be soon enough. Thinking riles me up, then calms me down.

I like to blend my food together, like last night when I swirled the mixed vegetables in with the mashed squash. I say if it tastes good mixed up, why not?

Yep, there’s always a top spot reserved for our ‘swate tay’ pitcher, too. 🙂 We drink so much of it, I have to make a new one every morning, and there’s just us 2 here.

I love your fridge. And I love that I don’t have to feel shame about my own now. HOW THE HELL DO THOSE THINGS GET SO GROSS?! I think of them as hermetically-sealed environments, but obviously not.

  16. reocochran says:

I liked your system of eating, love your fridge with room for “swate tea!”

When I am at a potluck, I always eat the familiar and favorite foods last. I taste all the unknown ones and then eat in order of “least important to most,” which leaves fruits and dessert usually last, Joey. 🙂
At home, almost always I eat a little of each, but I don’t eat food I don’t like so no need to prioritize them. 😀
I am longing for my date night, but was up at my Mom’s visiting her at the hospital last weekend, then put a deposit on Memory Care unit so when she’s done with therapy, she will go into this pleasant and caring place. Noore wandering around in freezing cold weather and scaring us to death with pneumonia!
It means date night is again postponed while I head back to Cleveland to help pack her stuff up to go to the new place sometime next week. Hugs xo

I am thankful for your kind words. It is lucky to still have her, she is still a sweet and funny Mom, just a few less marbles. 😉
Prayers are always appreciated much. ❤
I hate on the other hand, how my two brothers assume it is my "job" to sort and decide what to take to Goodwill, etc.

I must admit, I am mostly pushed to clean my fridge when I have spillage. I know…I can do better! I may just do it this evening when I get home from work.

  18. Once my fridge is organized, it rapidly becomes unorganized. I’m not sure why they can’t figure out where the space is that they took the item out from! Love that photo of the plants on the books. And the fridge… but the fridge just makes me sad about what mine looks like right now. lol

  19. Of all the jobs I dislike, cleaning the refrigerator is right up there near the top. Cleaning toilets is first on that list. 🙂 But, I always clean the frig before I leave on a trip in case I pass on to the hereafter my daughter will never know what it really looked like. 🙂

My husband is obsessed with mixing foods to the point that it sometimes looks like he’s eating a bowl of barf. I won’t freak if they touch, but the most I’m mixing on my plate is rice and stew beef.
