And so you know just what color to paint your home’s front door….if it’s not already red. 🙂

The second red door from the top is very similar to our front door. I’ll take a photo of that, some day, after I add the shelf. 2161 is impressive, especially with the balcony doors – nice photo!

  4. Love these. And realtors will tell you that the best way to add curb appeal is to paint the front door red.

I’m always fascinated by the names written on the lintels above the front doors, as in the first example here. WIL-FRA-MAR most likely is made up of three names, but are they first names, last names, or the first, middle and last name of someone? And who was that person/those people? I’m not looking for an answer, just curious. The apartment building where my grandparents (plus Mom and her brother and sisters) lived had the name INGRAM (I think) engraved above the door, but no one in the building was named Ingram, and as far as I know the landlord wasn’t Ingram, either. So who was Mr. Ingram?

    Don’t mind me, I’m just being weird…

If you’re being weird, then I am also being weird with you, because the day I took that photo, December 26, I looked it up online and found diddly squat about it and it damn near drove me to drink. 1897 was the only relevant information. Not so much as a hint as to where Wil-Fra-Mar comes from. William, Frances, and Mary? The history sites were of no help, John. My guess is this information is gone forever.

These are exceptionally vivid red doors. I like them all, no favorites this time.

Those are gorgeous, and I think you gave me an idea for a weird blog post or at least something to examine in my life using the keyboard and a little time belonging to patient readers.

  9. Who would get tired of red doors? Not me. Although, I do need to repaint mine this spring. 🙂

Wowza. I concur. Red doors are outstanding. Especially the last pic. They just jump up at you and say Howdy.

Great finds Joey. I love the stone walls and slate roof tile on the 2nd one and the Juliet balcony on the 3rd.

  13. Ok, so now I am singing, Roxanne, you don’t have to go through the red door…. yes, everything becomes a song and most lyrics are altered in my odd mind.

Pretty doors, Joey! I especially love the bright red upstairs/downstairs doors and would like to see the homes inside.

  15. I’m good with red, Joey, although I can’t figure out if in the last photo there are really two different reds or it just appears that way. Makes me see red to think about it, so instead, I’ll head off to bed. 🙂 Sleep well and enjoy your Friday.

  19. Red doors galore! That woke me up this morning, thanks Joey. I love the second photo, the deep grey trim contrasts so nicely with the light stone.
