SoCS — This Woman is Done

Managed to get through the week.

Thought we’d never get to #ThursdayDoors and Thursday Kittens — thank you for the extras, eschudel. Thought we’d never get home last night.

Chose side effects over pain this week.
Manic pace. Dizzying. Demanding. So walk, how peoples, many schedule, too much drive. Overdose of stimulation.
I prefer logging into the outernet daily, briefly, as is my accustomed manner.

Otherwise, I just like knowing there is there. You know, for my convenience.

I grog. My eyes burn, my hands are shot. My feet still move faster than the rest of my family’s, on the basis of my marching mind. Must. Keep. Going. I was in command of my legs, at least, “Look at me walkin all fast!” I said when I saw myself in the door reflections today. My tired, my secret, no one can tell. I look human, I only feel like trash. I waited for the place to clear out before exiting. Couldn’t maneuver through the crowd.

When we were leavin home this mornin, Sassy suggested, “You lika take cookie?” and I said, “No, is too heavy.” I’d already spent my energy on brushing my teeth and my mangled mane, and it would be hours before I could lift a fork of mandatory eggs to my lips. A cookie would not do. Can’t take the crash. Only savory food can keep Joeys goin.

I’d say this is a middle-age introvert problem, but my lil extrovert is plumb tuckered out, too.
When it came time to order her chicken and dumplins today, the waitress asked her what two sides — Moo’s brain went blank.
“She would like green beans and baked apples,” I said. Moo’s face lit up briefly, but then her eyelids slid down as she plopped her weary head onto her sister’s shoulder. She’s snuggled up with The Mister in my throw, “Oh look, it fell on me,” she said.

Sassy felt stuffed with pancakes and had taken to her bed, or, as she would say — gone to her cave to snuggle herself. She was so sick from exhaustion on Thursday, I couldn’t send her to school. That day off must have helped significantly, because, if you can imagine, she’s playing her cello right now.

The Mister is also tired, which he will tell you is because he is an old man. The Mister has been an old man for as long as I can remember. He’s older than me, so I will never, ever be old like him. He says his brain is cloudy and his body feels numb. I know he’s tired because he drank two whole cups of coffee and suggested I buy two tiny, overpriced jars of Dickenson’s preserves today, in flavors he doesn’t even eat.
And he informed me, “The Fuel Fairy filled your car up.” How romantic! I may let that gentleman manhandle me. But not now.

We’re dormant now. We cannot be moved. We’re goin nowhere and the only person allowed to visit is Mr. Sandman.

Sadie is so happy her people are home. All week it was, “Puppy not go” and those big brown eyes.

You know you’ve had a big week when you think man it’s gonna be great when i can stay home and do laundry saturday night!

  1. You got stuff done, and I’m assuming 1) it was worth it to you, and 2) the crash will not be permanent. Nice to have the flexibility to made a choice.

Sometimes you have to – because.

All week, I was looking forward to Saturday so I could go to the dump. Instead, I took a nap and now it’s closed…

I am older than Hub, so I got the raw end of the deal you have with the Mister. Meanwhile, I hope you recoup. I understand how it feels and how much it sucks.

Oh, poor Joey and Joey’s fam! So hard to all be exhaustified! Not even one Joeyfam to pick up the slack and cater to the rest. 😦 I’m glad you get to stay home and launder today. Enjoy your treat!

There comes a time when everyone needs and deserves a weekend to rest, to sleep, to be a slug. I hope you all get some napping in and rejuvenate for next week.

  9. That’s how my weeks are these days too. I admit to being old, but never thought it would be like this.

I go and go more than a lot of people my age, but there are times I become dreadfully aware that I cannot do as I did years ago. I’m sorry you have so many weeks like that.

Only Cymbalta did that to me. Worst medicine to get off of ever, But I actually lost weight instead of gain. I could only carry a half a cup of tea or coffee without spilling everywhere from the shaking. I finally decided to be meds free rather than walking side effects. But all my offspring are grown. I can’t imagine pain while dealing with little ones. Glad you have down time to recuperate. Hugs!

You had a rough week, for sure. I’m glad you got it all done, and can now rest up. For me, I think that time change last weekend must have messed everybody up. I’m wide awake when I go to bed, and sleepy when I get up. Y’all do the time change, don’t you? At one time my daughter lived in IN and I seem to remember they didn’t do the time change? Guess we’ll get used to it. If ya gotta do laundry, ya gotta do laundry…otherwise, enjoy doing as little as possible. 🙂

YES! It was NOT helpful that time change was during THAT week! Good grief, not a help at all. :/
We didn’t usta change time. I don’t know why Indiana does it now. It’s so stupid!
I hadn’t done laundry in about five days, the hampers were bursting, and I did enjoy getting it all done 🙂
      Thank you!

  16. Geez, you are making me tired reading about it. And sounds like the whole family had a bad week. Get rest and keep using the word manage even though some bloggers seem to be offended by it. ;)))

The whole family had far too busy a week. It was exhausting! We did enjoy our peaceful weekend though 🙂
I think manage is a good word, mostly, thanks Deborah 🙂

I washed floors on Friday nite although made up for it by watching “All about Eve” with youngest daughter (now 17 – what the heck?) afterwards. But we both fell asleep. Modern living is so. So. Oh. you know. You just wrote it!

  24. Glad to see your weekend was peaceful. 🙂 I got the leftover bug that was spreading through the house. Not as bad as everyone else had been, so I did force myself to watch the girlie play her first travel soccer game of the spring. The sun was shining and it felt delightfully warm. I was like, yay, spring!

  26. I’m glad you had a restful week-end! I can let the laundry slide, but not the kitchen. Doing dishes is more relaxing than folding clothes, sorting clothes, and putting clothes away.

I hope this week is moving a bit slower for you.

I did a load on Monday and then didn’t touch it til Saturday. I ‘prepped’ meals, but only cooked a real one twice that week. I only did dishes once, but that’s cause I have two kids! lol It’s hard to live with a dirty kitchen. Laundry is much less offensive.
It IS a smoother, slower week, Deborah, thank you 🙂

      • Well you’re two up on me. I rarely cook anymore. Since it’s just the two of us eating dinner together we eat salads, easy stuff to make we pick up at Costco. I’m so thankful He-Man is easy when it comes to meals! :

Yeah, I can’t do a messy kitchen. I get cranky when it’s messy. Laundry is in the garage so it’s easy to hide. 🙂

The family needed this and probably all families should check out what to do: plop on sofa or other person and count on a blanket to fall upon you. 🙂 xoxoxo to all
I have weeks I feel like that expression, “Look what the cat dragged in!” For me, it is a long week so I try to cut corners. Then, I plop and it is usually a book and nap that follows.

Thank you! VERY much look what the cat dragged in. And the cat dragged us through another week, although thankfully, without much ado.
I hope you get some downtime and recover from being dragged about. We all need it ❤

Lethargy abounds when kids stay home sick. It’s like you become mentally sluggish and physical time slows down to match. My kids is finally starting to feel better, but my ability to adjust back to real life is shot by almost a week of non-productivity. How do you stop treading water without feeling like you’re gonna drown? That’s the question!
