After Little League practice, the coach asked the team, “Did you learn anything new here today?”
Little Guy Gus, age 6, raised his hand and said, “Yes. I learned that I am the slowest one here.”

    Aw Gus there is always going to be someone faster. Remember sometimes if you go too fast you miss a lot.

    aww I feel his pain. At least he was on the team. When we did baseball or whatever, I was always the last one picked, because they had to, and was stuck way out in the outfield where no one ever hit a ball. I’d just sit down and think deep thoughts making up stories in my head. haha! 🙂

    Ah poor Gus! Both my kids can relate. The can hit, and field, they played ball all through their school years and well into adulthood, but. When it came to running the bases. Everything was moving, but nothing was going very fast. It was watching them run in slow motion. They learned to hit the ball harder, and farther to give themselves time to get on base. 🙂 Man, do I miss those years!

    I hope Gus learns how to hit the ball hard and far! 🙂

      I do, too, Deborah. He’s a strong kid an his older brother plays, so I feel like that’s helpful, too.
      None of my kids ever played baseball, and I find I’m glad. Soccer was hot enough for me to sit through — a summer sport might have killed me! LOL

    Slowest isn’t necessarily bad. Actually, it isn’t bad at all. At least he doesn’t lie or make up excuses like so many politicians. Sounds like he’s a great kid.
