You know Moo’s name isn’t Moo, right? We just call her that. Moo, Moomalade, Moomy, Moomers, Moo Moo.
It’s Sassy’s fault.
Like Beezus and Ramona, it’s Sassy’s fault.
Some of Moo’s friends call her Moo, too.
Moo really likes cows and milk. I’d say it’s because of her nickname, but I can’t be too sure. She really likes rocks, marshmallows, and the color orange, too.
A long, long time ago, one December when Moo had just turned two, I’d gone out to Plainfield to shop with Beauty Queen. Strolling through the toy aisle, Moo fell in love with a plush cow.
The cow was as big as she.
I pulled the cow down and let her squish it.
“Cowy,” she murmured into its fluff.
Aw. Yeah.
Later that month, when The Mister was home on leave and it was time to do the gift shopping, I mentioned we should go to Walmart, because they had this stuffed cow Moo loved.
So we went to our local Walmart, but they didn’t have the cow.
So we drove a lil farther, to another one, but they didn’t have the cow, either.
And another.
Finally, he drove us all the way back out to Plainfield in hopes the cow would still be there. It was.
Three hours and who knows how much gas money, spent in the search of a $5 plush cow for a two-year-old. The lengths daddies will go to to —
Totally worth it.
Moo’s thirteen now, and Cowy still has prime real estate on her bed.

As the daddy of a daughter, I completely agree and approve.

Aw, what a good dad! I knew that if anyone could respond well to today’s challenge, it would be Joey. And, I was pretty sure her name wasn’t really Moo, but you never really know with names these days. I’m glad to see the cow still has a good home.

For a long time, she was a mini me, but as she gets older, I see a lot of my mother and The Mister’s father. She’s a good blend 🙂

Aww I couldn’t wait to read what you’d write about the prompt word today, and I wasn’t disappointed. Lovely story about Moo and her Cowy. 🙂

That is quite a MOOving story. I remember giving my youngest a ducky when strolling through a store at around the same age. After we got home, the ducky was put away during nap time. It was in the Easter basket within a week. The youngest was so surprised and happy. It was the start of a major duck fetish. Most of the ducks are now in the attic, but there is a large gorilla that remains on the bed.

How precious is that? So much adorable stuff at that stage 🙂
Moo still has Ducky too. Just one ducky. From Mamaw & Papaw on her first Easter.

Adorable, the both…. And I’d have made that trip as well. That will be a big one to take off to her future ! (Mine still has her stuffed Lion King Simba).

I took my Poohs to college 🙂 But Bubba left his Pooh with Moo when he went to college. I wonder which ones the wee girls will take…

Totally, TOTALLY worth it. When #4 Daughter was 2, she wanted “a stuffed bear as big as I am.” We found one. A red one. She named it Hot Red Cherry. That’s my gal.

Now I’ve got warm fuzzies all over. Reminds me of all the stuffed animals I loved as a child. They all had names.

Oh good. They have to, don’t they? How can you love it properly without a name? 🙂

The young lady there is very cute. The cow is lovely too. As a father, I found myself doing things (requests) to my daughter that I never thought I might do it! But her smile worths it for sure. Thank you…

I’m too far behind with posts to catch up, but I wanted to stop in and say “Happy Easter” and I got the low-down on Moo as well. Well worth it. 🙂

So I’m doing a bit of math here. A $5 stuffed animal that’s kept a child happy for 11 years is a significantly successful investment! If only all your investments paid off so well, you’d be doing very well 🙂
