A-Z through April — Y

I was so glad Linda didn’t choose yurt or yeti for the prompt, but I find ‘yard’ is bittersweet.

I HAD planned to work in my yard this weekend. Specifically, to clear out my vegetable plots. That’s the work part. Then I thought I would add my traditional geraniums to the terracotta pots, and plant some impatiens along the front bed. If I still had energy, I’d add some decorative grasses.

But I won’t be doin any of that this weekend. Cause last night was all like this:

Yeah, and more of that today, and supposedly tomorrow, too. I like to garden in the rain, but not in the red.

Lawd, our grass is gonna be knee-high by Monday.

That’s the point in filling up most of the yard with perennials — there’ll be less grass to mow down the line.

As it turns out, it’s a perfect weekend for me to stay in.

I’ve made chorizo con papas and cheese omelets, and so far I’ve only stared at the yard from four different windows about twenty-two times. It can’t rain every weekend, right? RIGHT?

    I hope you get gardening weather soon. Please send your rain our way. We desperately need it. We had one rainy day this week and then the sun came out and we’re back in summer clothes.

    Yum that looks delicious. And anyway, staring out the window at the rain, itching to get started on the garden, is an integral part of spring I think, though I’m no gardener. Just a potter-er at planting.

    Yeah, it’s like that here, too. We may need to rent some sheep to eat down the lawn if it keeps up at this rate To add to the fun, it’s 44, but feels like 33 with the ever-present wind. Yahoo! Ahh, well, a great day to watch hockey, read (another) book, and sip hot tea. Cheers and you now what they say: The sun’ll come out tomorrow (we hope.)

    Those omlets look very nice. If it’s gonna rain, that’s a good thing to do. We escaped some thunderstorms this morning. I got the front yard cut and the shed turned into summer mode.

    Oh, the omelette loos good! Hope the weather clears up so you can get out in the yard. If you do sunflowers again this year, hope they do well, and no storms get them.

    I can tolerate storms better than those wimpy little shower things. Of course on the down side the grass gets higher. I like the smell of cut grass I just don’t like cutting it.

      As you know, most of this afternoon has been mostly cloudy and not wet, and I really could have done garden stuff — but that radar has it all over, like it’s just waitin! :/
      Fresh cut grass is mmmmm!

    All big projects require proper planning…that’s why the 22 window views are excellent preparation for working in the yard. Preferably when there isn’t an enormous storm hovering overhead.

    I think food and naps is the way to go this weekend. We have cold, wind and rain. Not good for anything outside, including yard work.

    From Louisville last night it was a thunderstorm for the ages. I had to wake up at four, so I kind of wanted to get some sleep. It was like trying to sleep through a cannonade.

      Yessir, that’s only 2 hours from here, so I believe you. We had the windows cracked in our room and our pets were like, “No!” They slept elsewhere 😉

    I didn’t get much sleep here, Friday night, then up at 5 to take care of Mom’s morning meds and food before I headed out for the Authors Fair in LaGrange. Everybody there was staggering around, half asleep, ’cause NOBODY slept Friday night!
