#ThursdayDoors — A Sunny Stroll

As the rains continue to drown Indianapolis, let’s look back on a sunny day in Oaklandon, wherein Sassy and I took a stroll after visiting the death of a beloved park. No, the rain doesn’t depress me, I just really loved that park.

It was so sunny that day I couldn’t even see what I was photographing.  Mmhm. I have a lot of these — this is THE BEST ONE.

Cute blue shed is cute. So cute, even its hardware is trusting.

Coupla houses with doors NOT on the sunny side — Sunnyside. Heh. That’s a locale pun. Only a local can heh to that.

This is some sorta used-to-be church with beautiful lines that houses offices now.

Also, it has lovely windows.

Shout out to all my fellow UUers! Bout five of you, yeah?

Sadie’s bottom and floofy tail really add some life, I think.

Another placard fail; I tried to put enough color and contrast into the dates to read them, but I could not. I went to their site and read about fires and how they raised funds to rebuild, and it would seem to be actually established in 1838 and rebuilt again after two fires in 1920 and 1925. If you’re into history, it’s a good lil read entitled “The Little Church That Could.”

The building is recognized by state and national historic registers.

I like the ‘not on the sunnyside’ house! I won’t ‘heh’ though, because I’m not local. Good for Sadie getting in the photo! 🙂

  2. The repurposed church for offices is kinda wonderful. I think the Windows are pretty too.
The yellow house on the Sunnyside of the street is the perfect color. 😍

I really like the yellow house with the “primrose pink” trim. Love the Sadie photobomb.

Ahh a sunny stroll. So uplifting – looks like you all had fun.
I try not to let the weather affect my mood but damn April was just so horridly wet around here.
I liked the re-purposed church, and any door shot that also has a puppy-dog in it, is just fine by me 🙂
Thanks for giving me hope for sunny days ahead.

Thank you 🙂 Last May was crazy wet, and about ruined my garden. :/ I am okay so far, but I’m nervous. What if it’s like last May? Ugh.

I’m loving that some kind of use-to-be church. It’s got a little tower going for it with those gorgeous windows. Yup, I think I want one of those!

Oh, my fave is the used-to-be-church turned into an office. So pretty, who wouldn’t want to work there and see the beautiful stained glass windows every day? Very nice, Joey, and please thank Sadie for the floofy.

You love doors and I love windows! Really love the tower and window in the church that’s no longer a church. Good shots! xoxo

  13. We don’t have too many timber houses here, Joey, so I love the look of those in your photos. Nice to see some sunshine, too. 🙂

  14. There was a time when I attended Unitarian Fellowship services. If there was a congregation nearby, I might consider it again. They are few and far between even in the most populated part of Ontario.

Nice pictures. I loved that Sunnyside yellow house. What’s the temperature there right now? I’m handling 95F and above right now in India?

ZOMG, Sharukh! 95?!? We’re at 55. That’s unseasonably cool for May, but it’s been in the 50’s with rain for about a week.

In summer, 90 is very normal. During afternoon hours we surpass 100 and sometimes 110 and settle back to 90s at night. Right now it is 11 pm and it’s 92F.

  16. I love that used-to-be-a church’s architecture and windows, but the color combo of the day goes to Sunnyside. It reminds me of pink lemonade or Key West. 🙂

Nice buncha houses and doors! I love the gingerbread one. The yellow and purple, not so much. Cover that purple with yellow, and yeah, but the purple, no. Just no.

Good to see a church being repurposed instead of torn down and replaced. I like the sunny shots, and I like the simple door on the yellow house.
