What do you do when you’re not working? If you are retired, what do you that is not part of your regular daytime routine?
What do I not do is a better question. Heh. I enjoy my family, my pets, my friends, blogging, long walks, reading, gardening, cooking, baking, watching movies and shows.

What would you do if you won the lottery?
I still contend I’d need to make a very long list. Off the top of my head, I’d enclose our property, build a greenhouse and a guesthouse. I’d buy my grandparents’ lake house. I’d change the lives of many people in my circle and my community. I’d take much more interesting summer vacations for the next five or so years, that’s fersure.

What is your biggest pet peeve with modern technology?
LAG. The time it takes for things to open. I don’t care which device I’m on, or what software or site I’m using, I want it faster. Technology steals time from me all day, every day. Six seconds for this, ten seconds for that — THOSE ARE MY SECONDS! At work, I’m like, “Just a moment please…” and at home I’m screaming at machines, “Motherfucker, LOAD!” I want every single thing to move as fast as my brain and when I press Print or insert my card, I don’t wanna be asked If I’m sure, If I’m really sure, and Is this okay? Just fucking do the thing, goddamn!

What makes you laugh the most?
Good dialogue. For this, one needs the right people, the right books, the right shows.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Gratitude abounds. It was a busy but good week for me and mine. This last week featured the unexpected kindness of strangers as well as helpful friends, and I feel fortunate. Bonus for lightning bugs and my bed.
The week coming up is largely unscheduled, and for that, I am also grateful.

Pretty pets. They seem to be ok with the pace of life…just sayin. I think it’s funny that you want it faster, Stuff is so much faster than ever, but it’s never fast enough. I’ve been doing technology for 40 years and that has been the constant complaint and, ironically, the constant promise. “Give me more money for equipment, programs, programmers, etc. and I can make it all faster”

Your pets always look soulful… in their own quirky way. I agree with Dan – it’s funny you want stuff to be even faster when I am amazed at how fast everything has become (I work in automation, so I have made things faster… So I am on your side)

My iPhone is geriatric and I scream obscenities to it on a regular basis for being sooooooooo slooooooooow. It owes me time, it does.
And if you win that lotto and build that guest house, can I come visit? Just for a weekend. It’d be a hoot.

Girl you have some great pics here. I don’t really understand your first question. I am retired and part of the fun of retirement is NOT having a routine. I do agree with you on the tech question. I want every thing to load up instantly. Hell i am retired. I don’t have time for shit to boot up.

  6. You know someone is going to do one of those studies, like when they tell you how much of your life you spent sleeping. It will remind us that we spent 2.3 years waiting for crap to load.

  7. Dan should know about fast computer speeds, but I’m still not convinced. Man, it feels slow. I mean, I’ve been online since dial-up – sure speeds might be faster, but with the heavier content to move around, the net result for me is tapping my toes til the page loads.

    Your pets are adorable.
Love your pet peeve because it made me laugh. I’m still awed at the magic of technology😂 When there’s a glitch I am still amazed that it works at all. Hubby, however, can’t understand why the stupid computer doesn’t listen to him🙄

Your dogs eyes are gorgeous! And I’m with you on technology. We spend so much time on it, we can’t afford to lose any more seconds.

      Thanks! 🙂
I feel the same. Maybe instead of complaining about how much people are looking at their phones, we should be shaming those who keep us waiting!

Nice photos of the babies. I can tell they are not spoiled at all. 😉 I’m the same with technology and wanting it to work faster. I have too much to accomplish at work to wait for something to load or make up its mind. Just do it, okay?

I knoooooow! Omaword, I could get five more tasks done if I didn’t have to wait for the spinning blue circle!
      “What’s your job?”
“Waiting for the spinning blue circle!”
And thanks, they’re totally not rotten at all ❤

  12. It’s hard to believe that we lived through the dial-up modem years. I’m like “this is taking forever to load…maybe if I turn the wi-fi off and back on it’ll move faster”. lol

Oh, the animals! The beauty of them! And the flahr at the top! Oh, pardon mah accent: the fl-OW-er. So beautiful!

Yes, the lag! The laaaaaaaag! I once saw a drawring of a man in front of a computer with cobwebs between him and the monitor. THAT was the World Wide Web. I’ve also heard it called the World Wide Wait. And my lappy is lagging even more. I fink it’s about to go belly-up. Yes, I back everything up. I already had THAT heart attack. Yerp.

World Wide Wait. Yes, that sounds right!
I’m glad you’re prepared for the next lappy death. It’s always so swift and cutting, just the thought sends a panic through me.
The fleurs and manimals fank you, Marian 🙂

My husband is always LOLing at me as I get exasperated over websites not loading quickly enough and stuff like that. There’s even a lag between the letters I type and how quickly they show up sometimes. You and I might not make it if we had to go back to the days of dial-up Internet, that’d be our apocalypse.

For instance, when I opened the weather app on my phone today, it bore a line. It was so long to load, I could have taken photos of it.
      Indianapolis, no weather. lol

I like your plans for your lottery winnings. May we come to visit and stay in the Guest House once it’s open? Also, good answer about technology. There is a lag with everything. I hadn’t thought of that, but so true.

PREACH IT on the lag time. When I think about the years lost to dial up…sweet Jesus, those are endless hours of my life I will never get back.

I know! I’ll be honest, other than college writing on the inter-internet, I avoided the web much as I could til about 2005. Then it became slowly everything.
