Share Your World — July 3, 2017

For your main meal do you prefer sweet and sour, hot and spicy, spicy and sweet, bitter, salty, bland or other?
Er, I’m a foodie. I’m sitting over here thinkin bout foods I love to eat and I gotta say, life ain’t too grand without all of the above on rotation.

Where do you hide junk when people come over?
I don’t have junk to hide. The Mister and I are tidy people.
Now, these other people who live with us, not so much. We’re systematic in telling them to collect their junk from the living spaces, twice daily.
We considered our house ‘dirty’ yesterday when there were Amazon boxes piled up at the door, a dozen or more pair of shoes in the entryway, and some pet hair tumbleweeds drifting through the halls. We cleaned house before we did other things, cause we no lika live in messes.

What daily habit would you like to introduce to your life?
Nothing. I contend that the list of things to daily is long enough. You ever think about this? Work. Parent. Drive. Prepare and consume food. Do the dishes. Groom — and be sure to groom at night, too — remove your make-up and floss. Stretch, exercise. Take out the trash. Collect and sort the mail. Walk the dog. Make the bed. Pray, meditate, get 8 hours of sleep.
Whenever I see a headline that includes anything like “This helpful thing done once daily…” it’s a big ol NOPE from me.

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?
I wouldn’t like that. I’m a more behind-the-scenes kinda person. Paint the banners, feed the staff, organize things.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Last week was weird and crazy busy, with high highs and low lows. I was not fair to middlin last week. I am grateful the universe threw me those highs, especially in the people category. As ever, I’m grateful for my loved ones, downtime, and living where I do.
Marry someone who fills up your gas tank and rubs your feet.

This week coming up is FULL. Fourth of July parade, fireworks at Symphony on the Prairie, The Mister’s vacation starts, extra kids, meeting up with Benson on Friday. Plus, I have great blog material this week.

Thanks Joey. I could have a good foot rub right now. 😀

I agree 100 percent about food. Life should be a buffet. I try to keep my habits to a minimum. A toasted muffin with orange marmalade and coffee in the AM is about it. Nice pics. See you Friday.

Love these, and your circus answer seems right on point to me

  4. How in heavens did the artust capture the sheer delight in that froggy bronze baby?
So grateful to see it here. Can’t imagine what I’d do if I saw it in person. Grand theft, comes to mind.
    Take care – and thanks.

Right? Thank you! When I think of my campus, she is the very first thing I think of 🙂 It’s tradition to rub her nose for luck, and she’s had to be repaired ❤ I suspect she's safe from kidnapping because she weighs more than one would expect a four year old to weigh, bein bronze and all 😉

  5. I love a variety of foods too Joey, but the one thing they all seem to have in common is that they are nearly all fattening!!! 😦
Hope you enjoy your 4th July celebrations!

Considering your answer to the where do you hide your junk question, I suggest that you never live in your house while it’s being remodeled. There’s junk/stuff/things + dust everywhere I turn. In every room. I’m generally mellow about stuff being out of place, but this is beginning to frazzle my nerves. You’d keel over from the mess of it!

I KNOW. I totally know this, because my MIL (who is a neatfreak, not just a tidy person) had her home remodeled and I bout couldn’t stand to visit! I fear the day that tile comes up, Ally Bean. I really do. That’s the one thing I know we’ll actually get ’round to. Maybe we’ll be the kind of people who stay in a hotel or somethin… It’s just a floor, can’t take THAT long, right? Hahaha!

We like to eat a variety. We are more accepting of a mess. Not that we like it, but the day is long and work and stuff. I should tell Maddie that we can’t sit until she vacuums, but…

I can understand that behind the scenes thing. I love theatre, but I think I would like to be house manager ;). Good point about the foods, and I loved hearing about how neat you both are!

So beautiful, the white cat! Joey, I think there’s a black hole in your trash can, and all your junk is here. Charlie and I are cluttery, junkie, dusty people! We are making up for you and the Mister! Between the four of us, we are average! I loved meeting you this weekend. HUGS to the Joey!

      That’s Clara, mah bebe ❤
I loved meeting you, too! It really gave me a burst of energy! 🙂
If it makes you feel any better, the closet where trash and recycling go is positively filthy and is to be cleaned, along with the fridge, this week. Makes good use of young elbows 😉

  10. I have to agree… all types of food make a foodie’s world complete.
I still have too much junk, but most people just get to see it… I’m on the march toward tidiness though!
I don’t add many habits to my life…maybe change a few along the way.
Sounds like a fun-filled upcoming week.

It’s always good to stop and consider how we use our time and resources. But if it ain’t broken…
Good luck on your continued journey to item simplicity, Amy 🙂

  11. Yes on almost all of the above. But I do have paper piles that are a problem. Even though not always neat, our house is always clean. 🙂 That gas tank and foot thing is really important!

Paper is the worst. We have a bulletin board for stuff that’s pending, as well as a bill drawer, and still I find papers here and there from time to time! Drives me bonkers!
It’s better during summer vacation, I’ll say that much! 🙂

I prefer spicy hot, but I like to eat (anything). Junk goes in the hall closet and a junk drawer. Wife opts for the anywhere out-of-sight tactic, which results in many losses of stuff. I wanna write from 6 to 8AM daily. If my internet goes down, I may try it. “Ladies and gentlemen, licking them in the center ring, we have lions killing hunters.” Wanna-be announcer or some act that scares the crap outta people. Last week was anxious for me, this one has a better start. I hope that trend keeps trending. ‘ave a fun 4th, y’all.

I hope your week is going smoothly.
I had to laugh at the ‘losses of stuff’ because I know so many people who do the same!
We had a fabulous Fourth, thanks!

  15. I wish to be more like you. Not for the gas-in-tank and massages, got that. Good advice! 😉 Not even for the children, even though haven’t got that. But the way you manage your surroundings, including your garden. As for the circus – I’d be the lion, pretending to be tame.

I hide junk in my bedroom when people come over. Mostly just the four baskets of laundry that I’ve yet to fold! (Thank goodness no one requires work clothes and sorta wrinkled shorts and t-shirts are just fine.)

You tossed out a wisdom here that created an AHA moment for me. Life IS already too full of daily demands without adding more must-do to it. ‘Add this one activity to your daily routine …’? I don’t think so.
