I Am Not a Weeble

Kinda wanted a cocktail with my linner.
“Maybe I should wait til I get some food in there,” I said.

The Mister encouraged me to cocktail, as he often does, cause who doesn’t prefer a more relaxed Joey? He likes me all giddy and affectionate, and we can’t fault him for that.

“I will have a watermelon margarita.”

Behold its incomparable beauty:

I know.

I was fine until it was time to leave. I thought the booth, the six feet of solid wood mounted on the floor, swayed beneath my bottom. The Mister gave me a hand as I slid out. The floor was wicked uneven, I swear. I wobbled out and the next thing I knew, my bag was way out in front of me, then up over my head and I was down on the walk, which I promise you, was unwavering concrete.

The Mister was sure it was because of my tall shoes. He instructed me to take them off. I told him I’d hold on to Sassy and he could take off my shoes. I lifted my leg for ease of removal. It tickled, so I laughed as I clung to Sassy, and Sassy laughed cause my laughter tickled her neck. Another foot to go!
She flopped around trying to escape my clutches and I clung to her tighter and tighter, while both of us yelled, “No! Stop! HAHAHA! No! Stop! HAHA!”

We gave the window diners a real show, I’m sure.

I don’t know why this happens to me. Sometimes I’m a lightweight and sometimes I can drink like I usta could. And I never know which.

I tell you what, if you’re like me and you fall down plenty when you’re sober anyway, may as well make the most of it and order the watermelon margarita.

Happy Friday Everyone!

That drink looks amazing! Hope you weren’t hurt when you fell, but that was such a funny telling of your misadventure. Yeah, sometimes the window diners get to see the best shows. Take care, and enjoy your Friday and weekend!

I’m sorry you bonked your tailbone (which phrase sounds like a lot more fun than you actually had out of it), but you seem to have had a jolly old time, nevertheless. Lucky you had Sassy and The Mister to unshoe you, tickley though it was.

Oh what a fall! Hopefully no lasting effects, but it does sound like you had fun in the middle of it all. 🙂

  7. Love margaritas. Can’t drink much. But the ones at the resort in Mexico were just right – I had me one or two of them. Can’t afford to fall – would probably break something. But darn it, I’m a grownup, and I ought to be able to drink!

I’ve been with folks who have experienced that. I’m guessing you guys were on the entertaining side, not the, as Ellen would say “tut tut” side of the line. I’m not a big drinker of mixed drinks, but that does look delish.

You are definitely not a weeble. Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down 🙂

Reading this was an excellent way to start my weekend.
The finishing paragraph (“…may as well make the most of it and order the watermelon margarita”) sounds like it should be framed and hung in a bar somewhere! Such wise words 😀

LOL! That last line is perfect. I feel like I need to go out in search of a watermelon margarita this weekend. Or at least some watermelon wine coolers.

  15. LOL! OMG! You’re like me when I’ve had an Aqui Swirl! They are so freaking good! Like a smoothie but laced…no strike that- loaded with Taquilla. 🙂 I like the Sunrise Swirl.
    Which would you pick?

I hope you weren’t hurt when you fell and I’m thankful the Mister and Sassy were with you!

I was going to remind you about the Weeble adage. Wobbling but not falling down;but someone beat me to it. So I will wish you a Happy Weekend. Happy Weekend.

  18. I’m sorry you fell and at your youthful age there probably weren’t any lingering pains or so I hope. 🙂 But while we are on the topic of drinking margaritas may I say that I LOVE them. Of course, what is not to love – they come icy cold, in a lovely glass with decorations, they are a beautiful color, and yours even had watermelon. Home run. But, I’ve only been inebriated to the point of the room rotating like a tilt-a-whirl twice, and both times it was from sitting down and enjoying a couple of margaritas. I haven’t had one in years and probably will steer clear of them because I would be down on the curb with you and that wouldn’t be good for me. 🙂

You sound like me on Dramamine. I fully intend to become more skilled in sober intoxication as I get older, just being silly, especially if I wobble or fall. And it is a beautiful drink!

I’m a lightweight always, Joey. Talk a good story (yup, I do) but when it come to reality…

Next time, have your margarita at home, in bare feet, close to the bed.

It would have to be a raspberry or strawberry one, for sure. Maybe a lime one (original). I love real watermelon but candy or sherbet or other watermelon food items arent as good as the real piece of watermelon. Hard to make one like I expect it to be.
I have been channeling my Mom and her liking Manhattan and Old Fashioned’s. Definitely, the sidewalk changes and my balance upends a bit. I walk slowly home from where I have been, usually at Vito’s wine bar “basement bar” where cocktails are served across the street or “1808” fancy restaurant around the corner. . . I should post my goofy look while holding one. Felicia posted it on her Facebook so what could be worse? Lol
