How do you like to spend a rainy day?
I enjoy the sound of rain, so I like to do quiet things like read and work puzzles while it rains. Crossword puzzles are a frequent go-to when I’m alone. Last week, I bought a new jigsaw puzzle to work with Sassy during the rains, but it hasn’t actually been raining like they said it would…Maybe tomorrow.

List at least five favorite treats.
I was once pitted between two mothers arguing over whether whole fruit popsicles are treats. For the record, I don’t think they are, which leads me to believe the word treat is relative.
I’ll go with things I like to eat so much I have trouble STOPPING: Bing cherries, fig newtons, pistachios, pecan Poppycock, orange slice candies, and Tootsie Rolls.

Where’s your favorite place to take out-of-town guests?
Depends on the person and the time of year, yeah? The canal, the art museum, the zoo, the conservatory, local restaurants — just depends on what they might enjoy. I suppose the most iconic thing to show them is the circle.

You are trapped in an elevator, who would you want to be trapped with?
I would not like to be trapped in an elevator. As I have mentioned several times, my dorm elevator was wonky, and I have been stuck before.
A few months ago, a pile of us entered a parking garage elevator that did not go. If only for a few minutes, it was much pushing and panic before the doors reopened. It was not nice, and I’ve noticed since then we have not taken any elevators in parking garages.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
It was a spectacular week! We were and are in the midst of time off work. Neither of us could be away long enough to travel far, but I’m grateful for these uninterrupted and spontaneous days spent with my family.
I think that covers what I’m looking forward to as well — more of the same! Havin fun, makin memories, doin all the smiles.

I avoid elevators whenever I can, but will never avoid pistachios!!

  2. I would never, ever, in any way, no matter who was with me, want to be trapped in an elevator.
My mind would go to all the dark places that need not exist. Ya know, like cables snapping, or critters crawling through the cracks….

Maybe getting stuck in the elevator would be better if you had Bing cherries, fig newtons, pistachios, pecan Poppycock, orange slice candies, and Tootsie Rolls with you! 😊

  5. We had a rainy night and morning, but I was working out, then running errands, so I couldn’t do puzzles (which I love but for some reason rarely do) or read with a cup of tea close by, my usual go-to regardless of weather. I think I got a sugar contact high just reading about most of your treats. 🙂 But I’m loving the cherries right now, too, and nuts of almost any kind are always good. Keep enjoying that time off with the family. It’s always (or mostly) to be treasured.

Newtons ! Yes. I love ’em. I would include cashews and Cracker Jack. I like storms. Often I have the urge to run around in it; or I used to. I would not like to be stuck in an elevator. If it had to be I would rather be alone. I wouldn’t want to have to deal with someone prone to panic.

I don’t wanna deal with my own panic, so I can understand not wanting to deal with anyone else’s!
Newtons are addictive. I can go through a sleeve in a day, easily, and so I don’t buy them but once or twice a year.
Cashews are The Mister’s fave, too.
Does Cracker Jack still have prizes?

Orange slice candies….I’ve not had those in ages. One of my prison inmates loved Strawberry Newtons. When I was allowed to bring treats, I would always buy a package just for him. The other inmates gladly let him have those while they dug into chocolate chip cookies and sandwich cookies. Every time I see Newtons, I smile and think of Nate.

  11. It’s been quite some time since I’ve had a fig newton…and now that sounds delicious. The condo we were in at the beach had a crazy elevator and there were numerous getting stuck moments (brief, but still not fun!)…I typically chose to take the stairs.

  12. I take the stairs unless it’s a high rise. I would not like to get stuck in an elevator at all. I just know the second we’re stuck my perfectly happy bladder will suddenly not be happy and NEED TO GO!

I love fig newtons, pistachios, and cherries. We’ve been enjoying cherries a lot theses last couple of weeks. Lots of calories but they’re around for such a short time I’m indulging.

You sound like you’re in a very good place. I hope the week is wonderful!

So far, so good, thanks! I’ll envy you always taking the stairs, because I tend to get a lil spinny goin down, depending on the stairwell.
      Cherries are my FAVORITE 🙂

Thinking about being trapped in an elevator makes me want to go in anxiety mode, BUT if Charlie Hunnam were in there, too, I suppose I could handle it for a little while 😉

Stuck in an elevator? One of my nightmare scenarios. Thankfully I rarely have to go into one.

My favourite line is the very line one “doin all the smiles”. Yup. A day doesn’t get much better than when it is full of smiles! 🙂

Rain is for feeling: shorts, tee, shoes–I’m in it. Fav treats: beer, Triscuits w/p-butter, ice cream, nuts, Tootsie Rolls. Visiting Mt. Rainier. Either the elevator repair guy or my wife. Things calmed down last week, but daughter and grandson arrive today for a week. I hope it all goes well.

I agree with your point about “treat.” I define it as something I eat every few months, while a good friend believes every day requires a treat if one is to survive the day. It’s all in your perspective. Also, I don’t entirely trust elevators, either. I use them, but always wonder about them…

You like your food tiny 🙂 The monsoons are in full swing here – and I try to stay indoors as much as possible. Coffee, a book, a comforter at my foot. But well, employment means I have to get my feet wet and crinkly in the rains and work! 😦

  20. In So Cal rain was such an event. Now rain is often, and I love it. I throw open the windows and smell that lovely air. Days off with rain are cozy days: good eats, a movie, staying in pj’s.

Your list of yummy foods are really close to mine only sub out pistachios (I like them a lot) for pecans (I love them, especially pralines).
The bonus part was awesome, Joey. The six years have somehow grown up one Moo. Maybe I have this right?! xo loved this “zoo Moo!”

That’s a Sassy, but it’s okay, I can’t keep your kids and grandkids straight, either. The artist brother, though, I got him down. That’s Randy 🙂
