“Is there anything on at the movies?”

*Moo Googles*

“Cars 3.”
“Really! Are people still doin that?”
“Legend of the whatever.”
“Legend of the whatever?”

*everyone laughs*

“King Arthur, Legend of the Sword.”
“The sword? They don’t even know its name?”
“Excalibur.”

*watches trailer*

“Jude Law.”
“Mkay.”
“Spanish music.”
“That’s Zeppelin.”
“Is it?”
“Yes. King Arthur featuring the music of Led Zeppelin. It’s a no for me. King Arthur has just been over and over and over.”
“And over and then some.”
“And apparently not to death.”

“Pirates of the Caribbean blah blah blah.”
“People never get tired of Johnny Depp’s pirate face.”
“Can there even still be rum?”

“Baywatch.”
“Baywatch. Pfft. We could all don our swimwear and act out scenes from Baywatch in the front lawn and that would be more entertaining than watching fucking Baywatch.”

“Something about Paris.”

*listens to trailer*

“That’s a yes for me. I’d see it just for the actors and the scenery.”
“They’d hate it.”
“Mmm.”

“The Mummy.”
“Again?!?”
“Again. But this time, the mummy is a girl.”
“Hmm. Is she hot?”
“I dunno. She’s covered in dirt.”
“The answer is she’s hot.”
“Oh.”
“I really don’t know.”
“Sassy knows. Sassy says she’s hot.”
“Huh.”
“Sassy say she can wrap her up any time.”
“Wrap me up, Mummy. Yummy mummy be my mummy.”

*listens to trailer* — much screaming

“Fate of the Furious.”
“Jeez, really? How many is that? Like 900?”

And that’s when The Motterns decided to go elsewhere and do other things.

    So much MEH at the movies. Better to spend your time and energies elsewhere, when good entertainment is actually a possibility! 🙂

    We love the movies, but circumstances are forcing us to watch the summer blockbusters when they become DVDs or hit cable. I’m okay with that too. My house is a comfy place.

    I hardly ever go to the movies. First, I can’t eat the popcorn, and it’s torture to smell it and not eat it. Mostly the stories don’t interest me at all. Glad y’all can find other entertainment this weekend! 🙂

    I havent seen a NEW movie in ages that I liked…except Logan. That was ok. I havent been to the movies in I dont even know how long. 8-9 years ago, maybe. I did watch the first few seasons of Black Sails though when I was back home a few weeks ago, and started watching Marco Polo, but havent really gotten around to finishing them.

      The last movie I liked in the theatre was … hm… uh… OH! Aloha. That’s the last one I saw. Been two years I think.
      The others have seen the Star Wars. I prefer to read. Especially considering The Mister will buy them and I’ll end up seeing them 5000 times anyway.

    The last movie I saw was “The Force Awakens” with my son and grand kids. It was Star Wars and I am still hooked on Star Wars. The real actor ones not the animated ones. The one before that was Jurassic Park, when it first came out. So I guess I am good for another 20 years. TV is not the only wasteland.

    I love going to the movies! I wanted to see The Legend of the Sword – I don’t care if King Arthur has been done too many times – I can never have too much of medieval flavored thingses. 🙂 Renfest is coming up soon and I can’t wait to go! I would also like to see The Mummy. Even if both movies sucked, I’d still enjoy them. 😀

      Oh boy! Well, I know you will at least enjoy the music in The Legend of the Sword 🙂 I’m sure the new Mummy movie will play on my television at some point, probably many times over.
      I don’t love going to the movies, but I hope you have lots in store! 🙂

    I’m with Jewels: I love going to the movies. But I haven’t been for ever and ever and ever. 😦 Charlie hates the movies, and Mom doesn’t go anywhere anymore except the doctors’. So no movies for me. 😦 When I am very old, and self-driving cars are cheap, I will have my car drive me to the movies. And I will have a robot to sit next to me and giggle, ’cause it isn’t as much fun without somebody to shush.

      Wish I could go with you. I bet you’re a gas at the movies.

      Haven’t been in way too long, either. Don’t even know why. Haven’t seen StarWars – maybe when they’re all done with the last trilogy. Or are they already?

      I must be getting pickier – we have a hard time finding things to watch, even on Netflix. Old fogies, I guess.

        I am quiet at the movies, which is another reason I don’t like it, people be talkin.

        Netflix has the last Star Wars movie, Rogue One. We aren’t sure if they have The Force Awakens, but no, the trilogy isn’t done yet.

        What’s on that you might like? I do not know. On Netflix I like(d) OA, Grace an Frankie, The Fall, Broadchurch, and Sense 8. I don’t know what you’d like. I tend to try things on a few episodes or end up watching what the young people are already watching. I like trailers, and longer descriptions. And I like to binge!

    Seems to me that there’s not much at the movies these days, except remakes of things that didn’t need remaking…”The Mummy”, for example. My husband used to always want to go to movies, but since he got Netflix, he’s content at home and our finances are much better off! 🙂

      I agree. I am just NOT a remake person. In any medium, remakes I like are an exception. When we lived on post, movies were cheap — in civilian world, movies are an occasion! But, it was vacation, when one should NOT think about money, especially when one saved thousands by not traveling far 😀

    And then the film industry complains about Netflix making movies! It’s like, “Dude, Hollywood has much, much bigger problems.” They’re re-making Bride of Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, and it all seems so tired before it’s even begun.

      Preach! Omaword, with the remakes! You can’t tell me there aren’t inspired screenwriters out there! So ya put out some blockbusters, great, but Indie films have my heart. Good grief, most of the best stuff I’ve watched in the last year has been streaming!

    ‘Cause the Motterns are smart that way. I cannot remember the last movie I saw. I don’t like sitting still for 2 hours…2 hours!!! All those people, the smell of popcorn. No. Just no.

    Car conversations can be hilarious. This one is a keeper. Movies are pretty disappointing this summer, agree. Glad your family found other better things to do. Of course, it’s easy with such a great movie reviewer right at home.

    I always find that the worst movie options are on a Friday or Saturday afternoon when it’s too hot to do anything! Happy Weekend to you as well. (I almost said Happy Weedend – freudian slip as I have to weed tomorrow!)

    We recently saw Spiderman Homecoming. It’s the billionth Spidey move, but this one blows all the others out of the water.

    I recommend later, not now, a bittersweet but funny movie (no one died) called, “The Big Sick.” A Felicia and me movie and it was nice, both of us not with a guy, between giving up or staying friends stage. This taught us what to really look for. Ray Romano and the lead characters are great, while Holly Hunter has an awesome surprising moment. Loved this! ❤
