List some of your favorite types of teas.
Mmm, tea! That makes me yearn for cool weather *sigh* It’s summer, so the only tea I care to drink is swate tay, iced Luzianne made at home (and decaf.) That’s actually not best for me, and I should be making iced green tea with mint, but the things that are bad for us taste better, don’t they? I mean, if I could drink any ol tea, I’d be all up in oolong with cloves, or havin vodka peach tea, but excess pitta, too much yang, no matter what you subscribe to, I’m just too hot and spazzy and dietary choices DO affect it, so I’ve learned not to put myself through that. That run-on was reminding myself as much as telling you.
In cooler weather, I enjoy much more tea-ing and tisane-ing, tending my body with warm cooling teas. My absolute fave is Sleepytime decaf lemon jasmine green tea.
Also, whatever the hell sweet tea at Pandaspress is. Good for me — I can tell cause it’s not tasty — but addictive nonetheless.
I love tea.

If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be?
SLOW. I woke up on my own at 6:15. I do not know. I’ve done stuff and been out and about and swam and ate lunch and I think think it’s about time to build a book tent on my face.

What are a couple of things could people do for you on a really bad day that would really help you?
Please, make me laugh. I’ve never been mad at anyone for bringin me ice cream or rubbin my feet, either.

Regardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility: If you could be an athlete what would do do?
Oh, I’d be a snow skier. Whoosh, shoop-shoop, whoosh! Snow is awesome.
Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Well, this has been a weird week, because it’s a transitional time. I’m deep into gratitude. I’m fortunate, feelin all the love. People have been kind and supportive. Dinner with friends was spectacular and refreshing, as expected. I enjoyed lunch at the annual local fish fry. The Mister left me a patch of bull thistle in the back forty. On the shallow side, I love how this time of year is like a stone fruit orgy in my mouth. It almost makes up for the heat and humidity. Annnd, they’re FINALLY paving 56th Street between Shadeland and Kessler! That’s worth a hallelujah, ferreal.
This week will be full, full, full. I’m looking forward to its unfolding possibilities.

I am partial to straight up mint tea as well as sweet tea. I also like the Zingers from Celestial Seasonings. If I could be a pro athlete I would be a golfer. You walk around a park all day and if you are good at it you can keep making money even as an old guy. As for traffic signal I would probably be a flashing yellow. It doesn’t make a command it just advises caution; and caution is what I think I need.

Oh boy, so much in so few sentences, there. And so much yellow in the visual for me. I enjoy Zingers as well. Lemon, particularly.
I hope you are cautious and handled with caution as well. 🙂

  4. My favorite tea is the one I’m drinking when asked, usually hot even in summer, although I’ve enjoying some iced tea as well during these really hot days. I usually make a po and then drink it throughout the day, so it’s cool by mid-afternoon. I love that you know tea and tisane!! I explained the difference to many customers at the tea shop. As for the rest, laughing is wonderful and even good for you, I love skiing but haven’t skied for too many years, and I’m so happy that you’re feeling so much love and support!

      Thanks, Janet.
I really haven’t encountered much tea I don’t enjoy, but I don’t like hot tea as much when it’s warm outside. I have many friends like you, even with coffee, they’ll look at my iced cold brewed java and say, “It’s never too hot for hot coffee.” 😛

Tea? Manhattan Iced. Sign: Caution, speed zone. On a bad day: kiss me, then leave me the fuck alone (till ah gets over mehself). Runner (was back when…). As grateful as I wanna be for the nice weather, we could use some rain.

You fancy with your teas! 🙂 I’m a simple gal — black teas. I said make me laugh, too. And cookies, although with this heat, I’m liking your ice cream idea.

  9. Lots of tea too for me 🙂
The most perfect treat for summer. Works great in the winter too!

Interesting teas. Mine is oolong. And then iced tea with fresh mint leaves from my herb garden that is completely dead from the heat. So you love fruit. Hmm. I will try not to hold that against you. No, seriously, everybody loves fruit except me.
On the gratitude side, guess what? The gardener (and the heavenly CEO) saved mom from having open heart surgery and she has responded so well to the easier not-so-invasive surgery she had instead! We are all so grateful. The gardener’s been bragging, though, so brother told him to eat some humble pie.

That really is an outstanding blessing to be sure! I’m so glad y’all have that in your gratitude 🙂
Humble pie, heh. Yeah, I get that.

Oolong is definitely yumma, and a rare treat for my hot and spazzy body!

I DO love fruit. Best part of summer are the stone fruits and tomatoes and as you grow them, fresh herbs. Mmm. Imma grow some mint in a container next year. I do so love my mojitos! 😛
The woman who does my hair doesn’t like any fruit at all, either. She says it’s a textural issue. She assures me she eats twice as many veggies, so I don’t see that it matters. Do you eat your veggies, Luanne? 😉

My favorite tea is Pomegranate by Bigelow – it’s not one of the healthy greens either but green tea gives me a tummy ache.

I love: “I think think it’s about time to build a book tent on my face” – I try to do that every night. Since I’m a fan of “not hot enough” (according tp the Mrs) Lipton tea, I won’t comment further.

I live in fear of speaking to actual tea drinkers. I do drink some fancy-schmancy tea, but I don’t know what it is. My wife made me a cup, I liked it and she gave me a bunch of bags to take to work in a can. I’m not sure if I drink the tea on the label or if she just used a can she had lying around,

That’s like how I do with wine. I know very little, and I don’t care, cause I still know what I like when it crosses my tongue!

You’ve inspired me to make some sweet tea. I usually live on it during the hot summer months, but this year my world is topsy-turvy and I seem to have switched to iced coffee. Your photo montage is pretty and reminds me that I need to take more pics. Again, this summer… so different.

I’ve decided to steep and ice some lemon jasmine green tea today 🙂 I can drink the cold brew coffee while I wait 😉

joey, your lemon jasmine green tea sounds delicious. In fact, this time of year any iced beverage sounds good to me. Beer… did someone say beer? And thanks for the moral support. There’s progress almost every day now, so… yay!

On the bright side, that thistle will attract goldfinches when it blooms.

I like echinacea tea when I’m sick–and look, you’ve posted photos of it. Sort of. Generally, though, I prefer tea made from ground up coffee beans. Road sign: Falling Rocks. I like when someone else does a chore that I usually do, like wash the dishes. Something simple that provides some unexpected relaxation. Finally, athletics…as a former football player, lifelong basketball junkie, and recreational hiker, I think the one thing I’d like to do is a competent whitewater kayaker, but I’ve never made the effort to master the skills or overcome my fears, and probably won’t at this advanced age. But if I were young again….

And hey, comments disabled on the school list post…? damn. I would have liked to bitch about that, too. I’d have sent a different brand of #2 pencils just to make a point. Fuck Ticonderoga, man.

Thank you for your support on the Ticonderoga 🙂 Yeah, I disable comments after like a year or somethin — still I appreciate you read it.
I’ve got LOTS of echinacea left to plant. I’m doin some of the white echinacea in the shade garden. Problems with the tiller this year.
That thistle attracts pollinators like whoa. I REALLY enjoy the thistles and am still mad the city finds them to be WEEDS. Bastard city, man.
Kayaking is awesome, although I prefer calm water. I’ve been wanting to get my youngest into it 🙂

Numi chocolate Pu-erh tea is my favorite. Hot with 1/3 coconut milk added and stevia to make it sweet. Yummy! I’ve never like mint in my tea or coffee, but put it in my coconut milk ice cream and add some chocolate chips and I’m so there.

I’d tell you a joke now, but I’ve got nothing. Maybe tomorrow.

I feel like a douche bag that it took me this long to catch up in Joey’s world :(, please forgive me. Now whose ass do I have to kick for giving you and the MIster notices about mowing the back 40? I was just in Indy last night at a concert at White River State Park and trust me I saw plenty of places that could use a good dose of the Snapper/Murray and that was in the FRONT yard!

  21. I do love tea, but the only hot drink that I do in the summer is morning coffee. I drink my iced tea unsweetened. I sometimes get stares like I’m crazy. I live in the south, but for some reason I can’t do all that sugar in tea. I’ve not tried oolong before. Panera has a Plum Ginger Hibiscus that is my favorite iced tea.
The peaches have been great lately. I’ve learned that some people peel off the fuzzy skin. I didn’t even know that was possible!! We keep searching for ripe plums, but the local grocery has been hit or miss with those.

I’m heavy into white flesh nectarines lately, and of course cherries, and yes, of course black plums! I feel badly you’re havin trouble finding plums. Those are tops on my list!
Hibiscus has proven to be a very popular answer with this prompt! 🙂

Nice!! Great knowing you a bit more, Joey! I am not nuts about tea but put a coffee mug in my hand in the mornings and I’m set to go. Only one cup per day that’s it. More then that I begin to shake and feel awful. I have a very restricted diet due to health issues and because of this diet I am feeling so much better. And yeah why do all the bad things for you always taste better? Hubby dared to bring M&M’s into this house and because I have zero willpower when it comes to those candies, I ate some and of course I paid for it. He felt so bad he actually threw them in the garbage. Today I went the furthest yet on my bike … a full 13 miles. I’m slowly working up to 20 miles and then will increase that. For some reason my left hand went numb with pins and needles during that ride and I said HUH that never happened before. I wonder why. Had a run in with a neighbor today as well and will probably write about that in a post. I’m still waiting for Chestnut Ridge Park to reopen so I can again hike. My dear friend Chestnut got hit with an EF-2 tornado last week and over one thousand trees came down. Oh man that hurts!! I cried when I heard that. That’s a little about me. 😜🌹

Ooh, pecan pie and a fish fry! They rhyme and are so awesome. Hmmm😜
Transition time is challenging but you have your family and they are the best in support (mine is also amazing in this way.) The coneflowers photo and the thistle in the back forty are worth cheering for, Joey.
I contemplate quitting but cannot so try to just sink into the break, so glad you will have the days before school and as they leave a piece of time can also bring you peace. 🕊 🌻 💐
