SoCS — Do Dew Due

That’s what I got for the prompt. Pretty much all I know of the song is de do do do and da da da and “their logic ties me up and wrecks me” cause OMG SAME, but I dig the song, and that’s what came to me.

I’m struggling with do, because The Mister’s in and out and Moo has plans, and now Sassy has asked me a terrible, terrible question, “Are we going anywhere today?” which means she’ll make plans and somehow this will involve me cause, “I’m a driver, I’m a winner, things are gonna change I can feel it.” Totally different song.

ALL HAIL THE GREAT TAXI MOMS. We are legion.

I’m due for a doorscursion so I have asked Sassy if we couldn’t just pick up a friend and do that. I’m awaiting the 411.

Dew? Usually on my car in the morning, in. the. dark. of morning. Another good reason to sleep late on Saturday — there’s no dew on the car.

Carry on, Taxi Mom! I never thought of that song…

  3. I remember when I was the taxi and tour guide for my kids. I was thinking in a similar vein about dew…someone would have to get up pretty early to see the dew in Southern California the way the weather has been, it would evaporate pretty quick. 🙂

Morning dew doesn’t linger long here, lately, either, Deborah. It’s been sunny for weeks! I leave a few times a week at 6:25. It’s dark and dewy then.
Congratulations on getting through the taxi time! 🙂 My day will come!

Thanks for stopping by in support. Good effort. I’ll give you half the bonus points ✔️ But you got off easy not having to clean the car windows, do that should be enough. That’s like finding money in my book!

  5. Where has Beck been ?? Maybe he has a family, and is the taxi Dad ??

GOOD QUESTION: No. It seems Beck has been making music prolifically since Loser, but we’re not enjoying it en masse as we once did. He has a new album coming out on October 13th. No mention of taxi-dadding, but then, I didn’t read the whole thing, either.

  6. I also remember Taxi Mom days, days I’m happy to say are in the past. I’m good with that. Taxi Moms should always get their due for what they do, even when they have to get dew off the car. I hope you DO have a wonderful Saturday.

I liked it, thanks! I do hate cleaning the dew off at 6:25am. My due today was a nice cold fountain soda as we walked around downtown. It hit the spot 🙂 Now a peaceful evening at home!
I’m glad you’re done taxi-momming. I look forward to the end of that era, but wouldn’t wanna fast-forward it away.

That is a nice Police song but the video is pretty horrid. I hope if you have to go anywhere it is in search of doors. It has been a long time since I have been on a doorscursion, even longer since I have walked on dew soaked grass. Hope your Saturday turns out the way you want. Enjoy

Isn’t it? “Let’s just sing in the snow…” I dunno what that’s about. Perhaps before video artistry was a thing.
I had a LUFFLY doorscursion today, thanks, but I had trouble with parking and construction, I thought I’d never find a spot! I walk on dewy grass five days a week and will until the frost. Then I’ll wear shoes 🙂
Home for the night — peace be mine! Hope you’ve had a good one as well!

  9. Woot! You got the Bonus Points for using all three words!!!

I was a Taxi Mom for a lot of years, and never minded it until daughter wrecked her car and couldn’t afford another one…I fell into being Taxi Mom again for a bit over a year longer than I wanted to be. I was so happy when she was finally able to buy another car. On the up side she found out how awful it is not having her own transportation after having it, or having adequate savings. She’s been a pretty good saver since then, and recently bought a newer car with more upgrades and paid cash. That still fills me with all kinds of Mama pride. 🙂

I imagine I’ll be Taxi Grandma too coming up sooner than I’d like. I just want to keep him little!

I’m having a super LAZY Saturday…still in my jammies even! I hope to get out and hike tomorrow, and do some photography.

I hope your Saturday, and week-end are good, and you do something fun!

Those two songs are great! … Hope you didn’t have to actually go out and about to ‘do’ the things. … There were a few years there that I was a taxi mom, and I’m glad that’s done with. Then you just have to worry about the kid’s driving by themselves! 🙂

Oh, I did, I did do the things. But I got my doorscursion between taxi trips, too 🙂
Yeah, I’m glad half my kids drive and I look forward to when this half does as well. I will fully enjoy sending them on errands! lol I pray they’re careful drivers.
Glad you liked the tunes 🙂 Hope you’re having a good day 🙂

Whenever LM asks me what we’re gonna do today, it’s always with a hopeful look that the answer will be “nothing.” That boy can be a serious homebody at times, which is fine by me.

    • joey says:

Ah, that’s nice. I want a lazy homebody day sooo badly. But like, no earlies, no errands, no afters, and E, I don’t wanna cook that day, either. One day. One day it will come 🙂

Time to fake an illness 😉 I love calling them “earlies” and “afters.” Steal that, I shall.

I started that because I decided it wasn’t anyone’s business what they’re doing, just stuff. Steal it.
I’ll have you know, Sassy made herself a nutritious breakfast this mornin, and I screamed, “LOOK AT ALL THAT HEALTH FOR YOU!!!” So you know, stealing’s cool.

I enjoyed those goofy kid videos. Forgot Sting, aka, Gordon Sumner, was ever that young. My husband just told me he was a tyrant and the other band members wouldn’t play with him anymore. And he seemed like such a nice boy in the video. I just looked him up and discovered he is older than me!

Now I’ve got Camptown Races stuck in my head, SO THANKS FOR THAT. Last car we traded into, we got one short enough to fit into the basement garage, so NO MORE CAR DEW FOR ME. Or, frost. Sometimes, life is good like that.

At first glance I thought the prompt was going to lead to musings about Mountain Dew, the absolutely best soda in the world. What you wrote about, is of course, better! I love your doorscursions – look forward to the follow up post!

EW, Mountain Dew! LOL I live with doers of the Dew, but not me. I did, though, when pregnant, enjoy frozen Dew slushy things. WITH THE CHILD WHO LOVES THE DEW. Hehe!
Thanks for stopping in and giving me a compliment 🙂

  18. Ah… taxi driver. I know that job well. Only 6 more weeks and number two can drive. Maybe I can convince them to ferry #3 around. I doubt it…she only wants me. I suppose I should love the fact that I’m so wanted. lol. 🙂 Glad you got to have a doorscursion!

Haha! Well, it’s hard to say. I drive some kids whose moms don’t drive, but I’ve driven more whose moms finally got their license.
Honestly, there’s so much stuff before and after, it’s damn near impossible to coordinate rides.

I too am a Great Taxi Mom. Someday they’ll thank me. Or pitch in gas money. Or offer to run an errand for me. Oh hell, they’ll probably just be asking for the keys, but that may be a step up from carting kids here and there all week long.

really love your take on the prompt – and this might sound cheesy – but I had to stop listening to the “loser” song cos in my gut I just could not keep calling myself a loser – maybe my former counseling days were whispering in my thoughts – you know – about those messages we allow to come into our mental thread – and while a mild song (with a fun beat and cool chorus) might seem benign – or even be benign – I can’t stand singing that chorus and I am not always into changing lyrics – lol –
and thanks for the Police song – jammed to it and reminded me of a few friends from 80s – and I can see how the prompt led you there….

Awww, deep thoughts! I don’t mind, having been a loser now and again, it’s not who I am, but it keeps me humble 😉
Guessin you don’t like Creep, either? Heh.

      • prior.. says:

well I had to look up Creep – and I don’t really care for the song – but more because of the beat and tempo – whereas the Loser song I actually “love” – the way they come into the chorus – and the voice has a gritty – reggae -kinda vibe ….
but seriously – I could not sing those lyrics – have only had a few songs like that.
anyhow, another thing I learned was that Beck (singer of Loser) is from smashing pUmpkins. is this right? well I love a few of their songs
