#ThursdayDoors — Chipping Greens

No handle, no welcome. Unless maybe they like the look of you through the makeshift peephole?

All handles, all welcome. The handles on the right of each set are shiny. Why?

That first door is interesting but I do love the second set of doors–all the glass is lovely!

The second doors are nice and I like the green but the first door just makes more sense to me some times.

  3. Ally Bean says:

I’m guessing that the shiny handles are new ones replacing old ones that were used so often they wore out. Also, love the color of those doors.

Good enough for me πŸ™‚ They look so classic!

  5. I was thinking the same as Ally. The right hand door pulls are used more often, and have been replaced. My brass “pulls” on the kitchen cabinets are like this, the ones I use all the time need polish, the others are like brand new !

I would never think to paint a door green but I always like seeing them. These are eye nice doors. I really like the shape of the panels and the reflections (especially on the right) add a bit of excitement.

The mismatched handles on the second set of doors has me scratching my head. I guess what the others have said makes sense. The shiny ones are newer…?

You find the most interesting doors, and these 2 are fun to think about. Like, why …on that green door. A mystery to be solved. What kind of building or store was it?

Der’s a song about dem green doors: “Midnight, one more night without sleeping
Watching till the morning comes creeping
Green door, what’s that secret you’re keeping?” (by Jim Lowe)…fits with the first door.

Since I didn’t know that song, I read the lyrics and sang it to the tune of Midnight at the Oasis πŸ˜› But I knew that wasn’t right, so I looked it up. Nice tune. Good piano bits πŸ™‚ Thanks for that!

  15. The first one is a little creepy, but I love the color. I do find the mismatched brass somewhat disturbing, but the doors have character with those windows and the transom above, so the handles just lend to the character. Great finds Joey! πŸ™‚

I would never even have noticed the mismatched door handles if you hadn’t mentioned it. I was too distracted by the reflection in the glass πŸ˜ƒ

  17. Nice finds, Joey! The hole in the first door might be somebody making their own door handle. Theory on the mismatched door handles; did you get a look on the other side of the doors? Most people enter on the right-side door so the worn handle plates on the inside might be on the right-side too. Another reason for you to return and open those doors. πŸ˜‰

I dunno if I’ll go back there, or if I’d want to look inside —
but yes, I think the general consensus is that the rights were replaced due to wear. πŸ™‚

  18. I love the color, and the bottom doors reflections. The shiny gold handles with the green is lovely.

I read the comments and agree that the right ones were likely replaced…. makes sense.
and the first door is completely interesting – and quite a find, J.
the peep hole might offer a bit of ventilation and light – lol – but so interesting without a handle too – hm
