I’d love to show you beautiful pictures of the fall foliage, but that ain’t happenin yet. A bit, here and there, but my world is not yet ablaze with autumn. It’s gonna be 77 today, so it doesn’t feel like fall or smell like fall and that’s okay, cause at least I don’t live in Georgia!
Apropos to nothing, I woke up this mornin to photo prompt Right Now and so I share with you what life was like when I sat up in bed.
Does anyone know how to turn off the dog’s green glowing eyes? I filtered them to make them less creepy, but I’d really like to know if there’s a simple trick, because Sadie is not, as the girls suggested, ghost dog, demon dog, or werewolf dog. She is dog of big brown eyes.
I could tell you about balsamic and basil that seasoned last night’s bruschetta
But what I really want to tell you is that I’ve entered a new season of life. I’ve been in similar seasons before, but this is a new one.
SEASON OF YOU NEED A BIGGER CALENDAR (Again)
It’s comin around again — (that’s fer John)
For a long time, I used little daily calendars. I was once one person with a cat. Then I had kids and babies so I moved to medium calendar like I use now. Then the kids got bigger and I moved to large calendars. Then the big kids grew up and I went back to medium calendars.
Medium calendar isn’t cutting it this fall.
I need to go back to large calendar.
See how clean next month is?
That’s because that’s what I know so far. Papaw and I will have birthdays. Moo has early rehearsal, I gotta get to the vet before they close for turkey. TURKEY! That’s all I know. But it’s comin. Calendar inundation!
5am drop offs
5pm pick ups
7pm rehearsals
When is Thanksgiving Break? I dunno.
When are the meets? I dunno.
Are there concerts for Veteran’s Day? You betcha.
Oh it’s all comin.
I hate it. I do. I hate it because it says to me, “Joey, your plans are very bra-and-shoe-oriented. Much alarm clock.”
BUT! I have done this before so I know my kids are worth all the driving and one day they’ll catch rides and drive and they’ll breeze in and out on their own.
AND! While I taxi these two, I don’t have two littles to cart around as well.
But the 2018 calendar needs to be big enough to hold this season in my life.
Stream of Consciousness Saturday — SoCS ‘season’ is brought to you by LindaGHill
‘bra and shoe oriented’–let’s hear it for all us flat-chested girls. Woo hoo! 🙂 I do like the shoe thing, though. I might need a new pair or three…

A long time ago, I had tittles. I still miss them, Lois.
Shoe Love Is Real 😀 (but I don’t like to wear them a lot)

Thanks for the suggestion and shout-out! By “big” calendar, are you talking one of those massive wall calendars they sell at Staples and Office Depot Max (I guess they’re calling it now)? Those are fun… I use Google Calendar because I can’t handle a pen. I’m finding I need it with all these damn doctor’s appointments…

I’m still a fan of analog calendars and pens. The big calendars I’ve used are featured in my pic, under the current medium size one.

I like Carly’s shoes with that dress.

Officer :”Miss-you got hit by a car and your husband left you yet you’re smiling.” Joey : “Yeah. At least it ain’t Georgia.” Ba Da Dum. I don’t envy anyone who needs a BIG Calendar. Will your life become less hectic when Sassy starts driving or will it just add stress? Speaking of Balsamic I am reducing some Bal vinegar with garlic and lemon zest for this PM meal. It is for some Brussels sprouts with bacon. I may have pictures. Have a good Saturday.

I sometimes feel no one will ever understand how miserable I was in Georgia, but your lil story comes awfully close 🙂
When Sassy’s driving I’ll still have the things on the calendar, but I’ll highlight when I’m driving.
Mmm, I look forward to your dinner photos! 😛

Your thoughts on Georgia sounds an awful like the last 2 years of my first marriage; and my second.

If I could, I’d have all the calendars! They keep my deluded mind convinced I have control over my life. Hahahahahaha! 😛

Totally deluded, fersure! Everyone knows the calendar controls US! 😛

Oh my, the calendar issue. I refused to buy the one I like at Office Depot while school shopping because it was SIXTY-FIVE DOLLARS and that seemed insane, so I ordered a planner off Amazon once I got home. Sadly, this one is too small but I’ll make due because it’s not in me to throw that money away. I have, however, made a note in my phone that my planner MUST be larger than 5×7. I’m not unaware of the irony that I need to write this fact down in my itty bitty phone… 😉

I totally understand. I get the Mead or the Cambridge and they’re about $20, bigger than 5×7 same size as the spiral notebooks — well they are kinda spiral notebooks. I recommend.

This week was much too bra-and-shoe orientated!. Like seriously, it was sheer torture wearing a bra all day and shoes that smothered my toes. Today is a stay-in-my-jammies-all-day kind of day, which is much more to my liking…

OH do enjoy it, Jewels! I’m aiming for Wednesday now, because the weekend is too full AGAIN!

Glad you like the glowy eyes, even more glad they’re not actually like that in real life!

thanks for the nice Carly Simon song….
and laughing at the bar and shoe note…
and girl – you are so right that the day will come when our kiddos will “drive and they’ll breeze in and out on their own.” – that is my case right now… as my calendar became smaller….
beautiful (and fun) post

and I think you have an advantage to know what you know now – cos it makes that later time more sweeter cos you knew what you knew in advance and possibly cherished things more along the way – do you know what I mean – ha

I remember those ever- growing calendars…you’ll miss them one day. I keep my personal Month at a Glance calendars, try to transfer the important stuff into them, sort of a “schedule diary”. I have them back to the 1970’s.
That Carly song came from the movie Heartburn, did you see it ? Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson tell the true life story of the relationship of Nora Eprhon with the always cheating Carl Bernstein, Watergate busting journalist. It’s a good one.

I keep mine, too 🙂
I did see Heartburn, but I didn’t realize the song came from there. I recall this concert was on HBO and my parents bought the disc after. It’s one of my faves, I had to buy my own copy.

I was only in Georgia for 9 months (and one horrible week in July) but every time you pick on that state, I smile and identify with Joey…except for the bra and shoe thing.
I used to say that schlepping the kids everywhere is nature’s way of preparing you for them to get their license.

Been there. Done that! I used color coding too in addition to larger agendas. I love my smaller book one. Which you remind me I need to order next years! Thank you for that!!
Your Bruchetta looks yummy.
Since you asked: That crazy, glowy eye thing with dogs and cats…don’t use flash on camera. Use off camera flash or get as much light in the background as possible with other lights in the room or windows. The flash’s light reflects off the back of their eyes causing that glow and weird color.
It can be tricky to fix and usually requires an editing program with layers and tools like Photoshop. Here’s a tutorial just in case you want to see one way to do it.

Ah. Well I didn’t have the flash on, but I had the camera front-facing, and it was VERY bright, morning light in the room at the time. It may have been the reflection of sunlight in the camera, then? Too much sunlight. Interesting. Thank you very much for answering this question. Now I wonder if I’d tried to get a shot in reverse, not front-facing, if it would have squelched the glow. I’m glad I have many more dog-in-bed mornings to experiment. And dimmer ones, as winter comes. For now, someone suggested I use it as my Twitter avi, spooky for Halloween, so I did that 😛
Yes, do order your 2018 calendar 🙂

Oh yes, experiment and play! 🙂 I like that idea of using that image for your October Avi. Clever!

Mine are driving now and I don’t even use a calendar anymore. Hold on to the chaos as long as you can.

I’m a paper calendar person too, although after all these years, mine is still a large wall calendar clipped onto the fridge. I like to be able to see the month at a glance and by the end of the month, it’s looking pretty messy.
I already know November will be full even without turning the page yet. So Much To Do!
“Much alarm clock” says a lot!

I have a small Franklin planner calendar that I use. I started taking it with me to meetings and discovered that [oddly enough] if I said “tell me exactly what you want me to do because all I have is this small space to write it in,” people would do so. I realize this doesn’t help you now, but in the future when your time is your own, I highly suggest it. Something to look forward to you when you downsize your calendar again.

I keep a small calendar. I like to write it out on the weekly pages because there always seems to be more than I can fit in a little square. Mid-November will be the end of soccer season so we will actually slow down…sort of. There are college application deadlines and who knows what else for Big Mr.’s Senior year.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I do that, too. Event in the square, details in the daily part. Today did not fit in the daily part. I wrote sideways and a bit on Sunday!
Senior year is always so hectic. And the year goes by quickly with the senior, because that kid is so busy and then off they go! Poof! — I’m just sayin, that last year flies by a lil too fast for me </3
