As I mentioned, I went to schools six times yesterday. The Mister did the last of it, saving me one round-trip. Woot!

I got Sadie’s pill and met a whole new dog at the vet. I dunno what kinda dog it was — if a pibble took a lot of steroids and did a lot of lifting, leash like a tow chain. Enormous head at my hip, tiny ears. Beautiful, happy beast, whatever it was. I would like to meet new happy dogs every day, wouldn’t you?

Then I picked up three kids from two schools. I decided to serve the soup so they had dinner at a reasonable hour (eat faster!) then off we went again. I had to drop two kids a bit early so I could get to a meeting.

See, I was supposed to attend an informational meeting, but since I attended that very same meeting a year ago, and I was basically an empty shell of person, I decided it was not necessary. I went to the meeting early and walked up to the speaker all, “Hello. I so enjoyed your presentation last year, but I would like to go home now. If I could get the registration info, that’d be great.”
“Sure,” he said, handing me the papers.
“Thank you.”
I felt the eyes of a hundred parents on my back as I left.

I went home and found myself with two glorious hours to enjoy before bedtime!

I went to bed at 9:30. 9:30! I know my bed was concerned.

I fell asleep around 11 and woke up this morning minutes before my 5am alarm. I did that thing where yes it’s still dark, but did I oversleep?

This morning is wet and cool, and smells like fall. Mmm fall! Orange and yellow leaves dot the shiny pavement everywhere.

leaf

not like this. this old leaf from last month. is too dark to show you today’s.

I’ll get Moo off to school and then I have big plans to be at home until I collect Sassy. I’m going to iron and do laundry and bake a lazy day pie. Maybe give myself a lil mani pedi attention. Maybe snap some pics.

The Mister is going to bring home ingredients for tacos. Then we will all be together, eating the tacos. Together. At home.

I’ve already given this Tuesday credit for probably being better than yesterday. If Tuesday wants to impress me, it should offer me a new dog to pet. Course, this dog makes me smile the most.

y’all, it’s so early, sadie isn’t even ready to come out of her crate

How’d you survive your Monday? You think this Tuesday has potential or nah?

  1. Every morning starts in the dark for me. I’m covered in bulldogs and reading blogs before I start my commute. Every morning has potential, but some days are better than other.

I would not like my days to start in the dark, ever. lol
My dog isn’t even up yet. She came to greet me when I came home at 5:30 and then basically said, “I love you, but I’m goin back to bed.”

Weeel. Saw one of my vascular Docs; everything is fine. Got my Amazon stuff Sunday; their delivery Rocks. Spent some time playing with my stuff. Started taking Prednisone and it is really fucking with my already fucked up sleep habit. I rather dig the meth feel of the whole thing. Have been very busy around the crib. Clara asked me if I was “nesting”. Haven’t played with my new “Spiralizer” attachment in a couple of days. Don’t know if I am jonseing or am just feeling the steroids. Gonna make a apple spice Bundt or Totally Chocolate sheet cake. Not sure which. It is going to be a wonderful day. Even with no sun. Hope your Tuesday is wonderful as well.

      Thanks!
Glad everything is good with your brain 🙂 I NEVER enjoy steroids and cry when they are prescribed. I understand the speed feeling, and as you can imagine, this doesn’t help me one iota! Wanna eat like a pig and never ever sleep? Take steroids! You’ll continue to get a lot done, that’s fersure.
An apple spice bundt sounds good. I actually dreamt about a bundt cake over the weekend. It was brown and had delicious glaze. In the dream, I was afraid someone would touch it and crack the glaze. *shrugs* I spose I was feeling fragile.
I love Amazon. Amazon is my favorite.

I love the mornings when the dog wants to stay in the crate: “I’m good, I’ll come out later, g-nite.” I hope Tuesday lives up to the early indications. Mmmm, pie – bonus points for pie.

It’s kinda weird to be up before the dog 😛
It’s more of a cobbler, but it’s called lazy day pie. I dunno why. Tastes good though 🙂
      Have a good one!

  4. I somehow missed your Monday – sounds like it traded places with your normal terrible Tuesday.

We are retired. But we have four cats. Hungry, playful, pointy kittens among them. We are up at 5/5:30 and it’s freaking pitch black for at least two more hours. But hey, I’m retired, so I can catch a nap.

    Enjoy your pie and pedi.

I can often get a nap, choosing to take one is harder though. BUT NOT YESTERDAY! lol nap nap nap, mmm, nap!
It’s almost light here now — I hope it brings all the goodness for us both.

  7. So impressed with your Mom Pro moment, walking out like a boss !! Love it. It’s good to just say No when we need to carve out time for self. I get up in the dark all the time, it’s one of my favorite times of the day, hours of quiet just for myself. I take naps when I need to, no guilt. Retirement rules.

Do you just wake up on your own, rising naturally, or do you set an alarm to enjoy that time?

      Liked by 1 person

      • No alarm for over a decade now, I just wake up when I’m done sleeping, even in the last years of work. It might be in the DNA, I remember my dad, working swing shift, never used an alarm clock.

Interesting. I envy you that. My mother is a sincere morning person. Up in the wee hours, down before the sun most of the time. I suppose my night-owlness can be blamed on my father, if there is a genetic component anyway.
And if there is, my mother got weird genes, because her mother was also a night owl…
*blames all her night owl ancestors*

I do enjoy mornings….nice and quiet for meditation and writing. I just don’t like getting out of bed in the dark and the cold at this time of year. If only I didn’t have to go to work, then I could have both sleeps and mornings! Have a good Tuesday!!

  10. My days usually start at O’Dark Thirty so you had company out here in the world at that hour. 🙂

That dog sounds like maybe it was a Mastiff? Square head, wrinkly forehead? Sort of pug like nose? They’re HUGE!

I think the day has potential to be a good one, but I’m expecting something in my house to break sometime between noon today and Friday afternoon. He-Man is on a business trip and my house doesn’t like it anymore than I do when he’s gone. Why it breaks something to show its displeasure is beyond me! Sigh. Fingers crossed we get through this trip sans problemes!

TACOS! Yes, to Taco Tuesday! I may run to the Taqueria for dinner tonight if I can muster the motivation to dine in alone. 😦

THAT is a Murphy’s Law of marriage — something must break when the husband leaves. I know this very well. If it has to happen to you, I hope it’s something small and less meaningful that breaks.

Yes, girl, get you some tacos 🙂 The Mister is headed for the grocery and I am excited!

You know, now that you mention it, it could have been a mastiff mix — it could have been a mastiff body with a pit bull head. Such a pit bull head, but maybe his ears were cropped too short. Never seen a dog like that. I hate to ask what is it, because I hate when people ask me that about my dog. lol MUTT, she’s a mutt! lol

I’m going to sleep in until 7:30 tomorrow (God willing) but you enjoy the nature for me, and of course, take beautiful pictures!

      • Murphy’s Law of Marriage is so right!

I didn’t go out for that Taco. I had half a burrito left from last night so ate that rather than waste it.

I wonder if it was a Mastiff mix?

I hope you get to sleep in til 7:30. Getting up earlier than one wants to can play havoc with one’s internal alarm clock. I know…it turned me. ME! A lifetime late morning early afternoon riser into an O’Dark Thirty Riser!
He-Man is still feeling cheated about that!
He loved that I was just rising as he got home from a training ride, swim, or run. He’s the jock in the family. A Marathon runner, Triathlete, and Cyclist.
I was always a slug, and his cheerleader…until I wasn’t. I found hiking and a camera again when my children grew up and left me. 🙂

I think you’re the first person who’s ever said you BECAME an early riser. Maybe there’s hope for me yet. Morning people always seem to have the advantage 🙂

Ugh ugh ugh. I’m SO IMPRESSED with your Pro Mom move because there’s nothing I hate more than wasting my time in the *same dang meeting* I went to the year before just because it’s policy that a parent be there. Seriously, folks, unless there’s been a significant policy change I FOR REAL remember the stuff from your last meeting. I’ll ask if I don’t.
Hope Taco Tuesday is fantastic. (Mmmmm. Tacos.)

Thank you. I highly recommend ditching when it’s possible. In this case, it was an outside thing, not a teacher thing, and I’m going to give these people a lot of money, so I don’t feel I owe them an hour on the bleachers! #tyvm

I love when people tell me I’m young 🙂 I slept about an hour this afternoon. It was GOOD! Sleeping til 7:30 tomorrow, JoAnna (God willing!)
I was reading Deborah’s comment, and it seems to me it may have been a pit-mastiff. Huge dog, pibble head.

I was really happy to go through the last of the info meetings. I don’t miss that at all. My Tuesday started at 6 AM when I got up to take my hubby to the hospital to have a procedure to shock his heart back into normal rhythm. It has been beating too fast and irregularly (I thought it was just that he was in love with me. Turns out atrial fibrillation and irregular beating are actual problems). Fortunately the shock went well. We went out to breakfast because of course he had to fast before the procedure and he is not a happy camper if he has to stop eating for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time. Now I am working and he is napping. Yes, a good Tuesday.

What a way to spend a morning, eh? I recall that, about his heartbeat. I’m certain he is in love with you and surely you account for much of his racing heart! I’m glad the shock went well and he got some vittles 🙂 I hate fasting too. It kills me not to have a yummy drink in the morning!

  14. Good for you at the info meeting! My Monday was full and Tuesday has been the same. Baked two batches of biscotti today, one of which will be mailed to our younger daughter in her birthday package. My Mr. is currently negotiating with our internet/TV service to get our bill back to a manageable/reasonable rate and he’s doing it!! Two NCIS’s tonight and then it’s to bed and another day tomorrow. Yikes! How time flies!

It’s technically Friday now (and obviously I’m behind in my reading), so I don’t remember how I survived my Monday or if my Tuesday had any potential, but the weekend is looking good. No soccer or anywhere else to be, so we’re likely driving to the mountains to check out the foliage. ❤
