I don’t know why we call it draggin ass. Maybe those guys with the droopy pants are draggin ass, but my ass is relentlessly buoyant. My tummy, after three abdominal surgeries in four years, has long been an entity unto itself, but even still, it leads with aplomb.
My mood, now that’s another matter.
I’m about ready for a nap.
I have slept every night, all week. All week with the sleeping at night. Last night, I dozed off on The Mister and he woke me up because I snored at him. Good for me. I love to snore my face. And to beat him to it. I hope I become a louder, more obnoxious snorer as I age. I hope I fall into my pillow and snore within minutes. Imagine us harmonizing — me, a wee hedge trimmer, him, a bigass chainsaw.
We all have relationship goals, amirite?
I see sunrises all the time now and I still don’t know what’s so freakin fabulous about em. I’ll have you know the underside of my eyelids is far more beautiful than any sunrise I’ve ever seen. Also, because of the internet, I can look at beautiful sunrises from all over the world whenever I want.
Took a photo of the sunrise this morning and at best I’m meh about it. Sure, it was pretty.
It’s the sky. It does that.
I suspect it’s different if you wake up as the sun rises and you exclaim, “Yay! Another day! Woot!” and pop up like Jack-in-the-Box, whereas I wake up in the dark like, “My bed is the most wonderful place in the whole wide world and I am in love with this pillow and I am so comfortable, not too hot and not too cold, and not a single cell in my body hurts and I have literally never been so relaxed in my whole life and, aw, kitty, and WHY DO I LIVE IN A SOCIETY THAT STARTS ITS DAY NOW?!?” I sorta roll out and set my feet down and cry at the moon. I carry my clothes to the dining room and hop around puttin on socks while my hair swoops around my head as if it makes its own wind…
Then into the black I drive.
At this point I tell myself at least I don’t live in the godforsaken state of Georgia and at least it’s not scorching hot, and then I get on with my life. I usually proclaim, “Look at me, doin the fings” and then on Monday, “Look at me, doin the fings, not hittin the trash bins.”
Lately, I’ve had the pleasure of watching the leaves fall and swirl as I drive, and I do love that. Of course, it does that all day, in case you didn’t know.
Today is a magical day, because my tasks are as follows:
1. Brush the animals
2. Vacuum
That’s basically a free day in housewifery. I got to that by linin up my bingo the rest of the week. I have no phone calls to make, nothin to mail, no reason to shop.
After my nap, I’ll probably wake up all YAY! WOOT! at which point I will have the energy to make a new list
Shh, be in the now.
Happy Friday Everyone!
Happy Friday indeed!!

I love the picture of the drive into the black almost more than the sunrise. Still counting my lucky stars that I don’t have to get up and go out at o’dark30 anymore.

I also prefer the dark photo 🙂 Thanks. Yes, you count your lucky stars and you do that at night, k? 😉

Make sure you do your to-dos in that order. If you do 2 before 1, you’ll just have to do 2 again.
Glad you’ve been able to sleep.

I missed the sunrise this morning, if there was one. After taking Puppy Cody out in the dark, I decided to celebrate my first day of “retirement” by going back to bed. Best place ever! My husband asked what I planned to do with myself once I wasn’t working, and I told him that at least for the first two weeks, I plan to sleep. Haven’t done that in years, it seems.
Happy Friday, Joey.

Yeah, what is it about cameras that they don’t capture the thing you see? But I surely do see a big ass (speakin’ of mushrooms) scary mushroom! [shudder]

Well I knelt on the ground for that one. I’ve never seen that kind before. I don’t know what it is, or if the typical sort froze hard and are now dying. Dunno.
I sure wish cameras could see how I do.

That morning picture of darkness looks bleak indeed. As for the housekeeping tasks, I imagine vacuuming is often a requirement after brushing the pets. 🙂

LOL! You crack me up! 🙂 I love that pink sunrise! We don’t get too many like that and my view from my house isn’t great when we do get a pretty one like this morning, so I don’t bother with the photos from here. I love sunrises. I don’t know how many more I have left. I’d like to see as many as I can cause, YAY, WOOT! I’m alive and it’s a brand new day!!
I’m so glad you didn’t the garbage cans at 5 in morning while doin fings in the dark, and wake up the neighbors or dent the car. 🙂

I admire your enthusiasm about sunrises and your zest for a new day. We don’t get near as much orange here as you do there. We got a lot more pink and purple in Georgia. But meh.
HAVE YOU SEEN THE LEEEEAVES here, tho? ❤
I am really not a good backer upper, and I gotta back up goin in or out, can't have it both ways.

I’m not a great backer upper either so I did some studying, and practicing, and now I always back into the driveway. I need more practice to back in between two cars so I don’t back in at the grocery store or public parking lots unless there’s wide open spaces on either side of my chosen spot.
Big Baby Boy backs in everywhere like a BOSS! I wanna do that.

Sounds like an excellent Friday, Joey. I’m not a snorer, but my husband can be and sometimes it keeps me awake. Sigh. My list today is shorter than usual, too, because I just won’t put anything else on it! I worked out, went to Costco, fixed lunch, and got chicken stock going this morning. Now I’m trying to catch up on posts while drinking white tea with peppermint. So good. 🙂

You are my muse. I shall strive to have a 2-item list on all Fridays henceforth. I shall think warm thoughts about you as well. Have a fun weekend. Sleep in?

I think I get to sleep in 🙂 Twice!
Sometimes it’s like that. It’s nice to cut out time to just be, even if you have to rearrange a bit and do more other days. It’s a good goal. I thought when I wrote this post, I was done driving for the day, but I had to go back and remove that, because incoming text — SURPRISE!

I just love being retired. Not a whole lot of money and a lot more aches and pains but at least I don’t have any schedule to keep. Well not a daily one any way. Glad you have a short list day and Have a Happy Friday!

What a beautiful, beautiful sunrise! I love those things! I prefer to watch them from the comfort of my snuggly bed, through a conveniently placed window, but I love them. I’ll tell ya: I’d rather drive while the sun is coming up than when it’s going down, although that’s kind of like, “Would you rather have a poke in the nose or a sharp stick in the eye?” It also enrages and baffles me that, whether the sun is rising or setting, I’m always driving in the direction that makes it shine directly into my eyeballs. Oh — and the Southern Indiana Writers Group (of which I am part, in spite of their protestations) did an anthology called DRAGON: OUR TALES.

Right? The setting sun is miserable! It’s always like, “Oh, I see you’re in five o’clock traffic, allow me to lower myself to the horizon and give you a migraine!” Morning sun on the way to school gives me blind spots over a bridge though, makes me so nervous.Since I make a lot of round trips, these things cannot be avoided.
I’m glad you liked the sunrise 🙂
Were there many tales of dragons in Southern Indiana, or was it fiction? I know y’all had that bear…

Bear, skunks, UFOs…. The Dragon tales were fictional. 🙂

No schedules, no chauffeur duty, no lists, no reason to go out in the dark unless I want to…just a few of the things I love about life these days. I do wake up in the dark, but it’s also in the quiet, so I never mind.
The sunrise photo is as special as the a.m. blackness. And the leaves, blowing everywhere…perfect. We are in the chill now, and I’ve been waiting for it for so long. It was fun to dress in layers and go out into the wind.
Your mood is not dragging to me…lots of humor here, as always. Have a great weekend !!

I’d been drinking a bottle a day and my face would sometimes go numb and then I developed toxic neuritis in my left eye, so I decided to quit…cold turkey and it was tough that first week or so and then one morning I woke up right before dawn. I sat in a chair on the veranda and for the first time in a long time I watched the sun slowly come up in the jungle. It reminded me of a cathedral on fire and I suddenly remembered what it felt like to really be alive and see the world in a way that only a sober person could. I’ve drunk plenty since then and most of that I’ve forgotten, but I’ll always remember waking up that morning sober and how good it felt. Anyway, your post made me think of that. Thanks. Duke

Glad you’ve had a more restful week! I’m not too big on sunrises, either. It kills my husband that I won’t get up and watch the sun rise with him, especially when we’re at the beach or something. Bitch, please, I’m on vacation and you want me to get up before the sun rises?!

That’s a pretty sunrise and pretty dark morning. I don’t like to see dark mornings. I don’t even love to drive during dark nights, even though I don’t have a dislike for dark nights. The leaves swirling and fallin’ sure are pretty. 🙂 I wasn’t draggin’ ass on Friday (or maybe I was), but I sure was Sunday morning… my body wants to sleep according the light…hello, circadian rhythm. I cheer with glee with the hubby tells me that I snored. I put up with it 365. It feels divine on the rare occasion that I offer it back.
We have no kitties, but we are rather amused that Maverick strikes a cat pose numerous times a day. He would make a yogi jealous. You’d think he was part cat, not a 50-something pound Goldendoodle. I have never seen a dog get their back as arched as his!
