There’s nothin like walkin around a neighborhood, tra-la-la, look at all the old houses.
And suddenly, new houses.
It’s the brightly-colored doors that got my attention. I’m not keen on modern design, but these are cheerful doors, perhaps especially in winter.

Good looking doors. The overall look is a little flat. I guess that’s what they were going for, since everything is flat. Yes, obvious comment…I’d take any of the old ones.

Old houses for me, too, but to each his own paneled sections of strange … 😛

It’s like the new houses kept the same colors as the older homes to see you’d notice the difference. Those older homes have so much character.

Red doors are very showy, “Look at me, I’m bold!” I love them too 🙂

I’m with you on the older homes, Joey. Bright doors or not on those modern houses, I’ll take the older ones any day! 😘

Although I usually prefer modern houses, I love the look of the old ones, they are so much prettier. Apart from the doors, the new houses look quite ugly to me! 🙂

Modern is never my preference, these are all about the doors.

Oh yes, and they were fine doors! 🙂

To me the only redeeming quality of the new homes are the colorful doors. The rest look so pre-fab and Legoesque.

Right? That chimney, oy. But ya know, to each his own. Happy doors, though. Nice shrubs. LOL

Yep, older houses. You can paint their doors wild colors if you want but they just look so much friendlier. The newer ones look so cold.

hmmm – it seems that blue-green colour is a favourite in your area for houses. Seeing it on the 2nd beauty in your gallery, I’m a fan.
If you’re going to show me houses with big covered verandahs and mini turrets, there isn’t going to be a modern home that can compete with that!

True story. I’m a sucker for the older.
It did seem to be a theme, all the blues, magnified by the skies as well.

I’m usually not keen on modern design either, especially in older neighborhoods. But to each, his own.

I don’t always dislike modern houses, but the doors were the only thing I found appealing about those two (sorry owners). Also the sky looks magnificent! Those older home look quite beautiful. 🙂

Agreed. The doors are happy. The skies are magnificent. I even like the shrubs. But nope on the new houses.

The older houses are gorgeous, Joey, but I think those newer ones do a good job of blending in.

Wonderful pop of color on the doors, and I loved all the shades of blue and green houses.

Lining up with the rest. Older homes are charmers. But I do agree with the clean and bright with showy doors. Old houses make me think of books. Loads of wonderful dusty books. New homes make me think of uncluttered spaces that seem painful for the mind and body. Boring–except the doors.

I concur. It’s just a preference, but it’s a preference for clear reasons.

All handsome doors, but I’m partial to the ‘mature’ homes. 🙂

I love the older houses, and like you I’m not a fan of the new modern boxy ones.
The red doors sure get your attention though. Gotta love a red door.

Another vote for those older beauties here. I do look the design of the first modern one, though not the choice of colors. The red door on the second one really catches the eye though – nice!

I know the modern ones are never beloved, but I can’t find old and gorgeous ALL the time 😛 Thanks for your support!

Doors promise such possibility. Encourage curiosity about what and who is on the other side. Great post.

The colorful doors do stand out- and I wonder what that big “piece” is in the first modern house – the one with the lime green door?
is it for wind? structure?
Also, I bet those colorful doors are like super strong and all exceeding code requirements – at least that is the first thing I thought of – well after the color – I thought “sturdy” – hm
