Last weekend, one of my tires was low and The Mister put some air in it. On Thursday, I got in my car and the tire sign was on again. I don’t know how anyone would know it’s a tire sign, it looks like melting ice cream to me. ooh! where’s the ice cream, bonnie blue? Fortunately, for people like me, there’s also a wording part which read Tire Pressure Low.
I called The Mister and asked him if it was the same tire, and it was, so I said if he put some air in at again, I’d take it to the fixit place.
Walked through the door. Just a basic standard glass door with chrome handle. Talked to the man, left my key.
They called me mid-morning, all done. Walked over there at lunch. Man showed me the screw they pulled from the tire. They patched it up. As I was about to sign I looked over at the right column — 0.00. “How much is it?” i am signing for this. i should know.
“No charge.”
“What? That’s so nice! Thank you!”
“Eh, it’s no big deal.”
“Well that’s very kind, thanks again.”
Y’all, I literally have no idea what it costs to have a tire patched. I seriously do not know, but it was free and that’s an unexpected kindness.

I am always so happy, thankful and surprised when someone says, “No charge.” This was great, Joey. Yeah, that tire pressure sign….I had no idea what in the heck it was, either.

A lot of places warranty tire for free repair. I always look for that when I buy new tires

I agree about the tire pressure sign. Words are better. But what i want to know is, if they can make cars that drive themselves, when are they going to make screw/nail proof tires that don’t go flat?

What a great story to start my day! Thanks for sharing the happy, although I share your sorrow that bonnie blue doesn’t give you ice cream. I’m sure she would, if she could. Next time I buy a car, Imma ask for that option.

Nice Happens would make a great bumper sticker for cars. Happy to read a blog post in which something unexpected and good happened to someone. [And isn’t it sad that nice happens so infrequently that it’s worthy of note.]

What a blessings, Joey! I have to take the van in for an oil change tomorrow and I’m having them check the tire pressure, too, because my low pressure light came on a few days ago, although no tire is obviously low. Just got four brand new tires recently, so hopefully it’s just weather-related!

I had no idea what that icon meant the first time Pearl’s dash board had it lit up in bright yellow. I was freaked out by what could be going wrong with my new car that I pulled over and dug out the manual to find out straight-away. Oh, just low air pressure. Phew! I was on my way to pick up 3 friends for a road trip. We spent an hour trying to find a gas station with an air hose machine thinga-ma-jig that worked! An hour!! Thankfully the male friends took over and filled up the tires when we finally found one that worked. I had a tire gauge in my car. That was handy thanks to He-Man. 🙂

The Mister bought a compressor some years ago — for bikes and balls, but that only helps at home. Before that, I, too, had to hunt down an air compressor when I was out and about — not many places have them anymore, and even fewer are free.

That’s so sweet. As kids, we used to ride bikes all the time and the typically used to go as a group for all our repair needs to the same guy. Over the years, he would throw in a freebie or a round of ice-cream for us. Felt good 🙂

Aw, how nice of him! And I don’t have a clue what that dang light is when it comes on (no matter how many times, I forget). An exclamation in a bracket (what my light looks like) could mean any matter of problems that I could freak out about, so be more specific for us anxious peeps car people!

Pretty amazing considering they’re in the tire-selling business. But you can’t put a price on goodwill, and maybe they’re hoping the next time you’re in the market for tires, you’ll think of them. In any event, that was a very decent thing for them to do.

Sorry to be late for this wonderful blog. But I have to comment that we have a certain shop here that starts with an “S” that has this wonderful attitude. You know that when it comes time to buy tires, I will go there. Why aren’t other shops like this? Seems they could spend far less on advertisements when they can easily help us to feel trust. So glad you had this good experience. And yes, we need better symbols to know what things mean. There is a square that was red on my new truck. By the time we figured that the brakes were full of ice rather than broken or needing fluid, we were nearly home!

My husband managed the S auto centers for years and that is where we buy tires, too. Unfortunately, it is not near my work.
