An Umbrella for Tuesday

Thunderstorms here today, pouring rain all day. Not the best for driving, especially for me. I’ve already made one trip out of the house and I will make three more, going six places total. I’m pretty hyped about the sunrise, cause LIGHT. I have no idea what Tuesday has in store for me, but last Tuesday was good, so let’s recap that, get a good Tuesday mood flowin.

First of all, it was spring break, so I woke around 9 and lingered in bed until almost 10. No one else was up, so I went to the living room and finished a book. Around noon, The Mister called and we spoke for some time. I got a good news email. Moo got up and we had cuddles. Then we planned the menu and made the grocery list.

Carrie Rubin’s new book came out, so I ordered that and had it sent to Moo’s Kindle. Moo couldn’t find her Kindle. I told her to bring me her phone and laptop until she found her Kindle. She brought her phone and laptop to me and within minutes, returned with her Kindle.
Pro Mom Tip: Your kids can use their eyes for real life if you remove distractions.

I was slightly perturbed that I had given Sassy the last of my cash and more perturbed that she’d lost it, because I really wanted to hit up a drive-thru and I’d have to either stop at an ATM or debit silly costs. But then an amazing thing happened — I got a text from a kid I lent $50 to, saying I could come collect it. Well, I had totally forgotten I loaned her that money and didn’t that just solve my perturbation?! nicely done, tuesday.

I was nearly beside myself with joy over how it was a cool, gray, wet day. I wore my sweatshirt circa 1993, holey jeans, and sneakers. I felt incredibly alive. I felt like Tuesday was trying.

Collected $50. Hit McD’s, ate an amazing sausage egg McMuffin and sipped the sweet nectar of Coca-Cola. I may or may not have made tiny guttural noises while my eyes glassed over.

Went in to the shoe store, where they had just the right kind of shoe, and Moo said, “They’re five dollars!”
“What? No!”
“Yes, five dollars! Clearance, five dollars!”
Moo searched to see if they had those shoes in her size, but they did not. I got the last pair of $5 shoes.

Drove out to pick up Sassy, commenting as required, about how all this was just forest and, “Almost no one knew these roads back when I was young. You found em when you got lost and that’s how you learned the shortcuts.”
Moo nervously gripped the handle, “I’m glad they have guard rails.”
“Those are old, too.”
“Yeah, I see that. Dents and all.”

Sassy came out quickly and announced she was starving. To be honest, Sassy is always starving, because she swims and lifts weights and runs and plays cello and grows, so I had to be very mommer about it.
“Did y’all eat breakfast?”
“Yes at six.”
“Lunch?”
“No.”
“Oh.”
“Like I said, I’m starving!”
Took her to another McD’s. She thanked me like whoa. Started talkin about how she’d have another outing the following day — Translation: I know I lost the money you gave me yesterday, but I need more money tomorrow. hmph

Did a week’s worth of grocery shopping. Did not forget ice. Got $6 off my total order.

Returned to find The Mister home early. I didn’t have to carry or put away a single thing.

Moo spotted my/Sassy’s lost cash in a puddle in the driveway and hung it to dry.

Cooked fish fingers, because sometimes I am ten years old. It’s a thing. Made homemade mac n’ cheese, heated peas. Cooked faux chicken for kids who don’t eat cooked fish. I don’t know. I really do not know.
Great meal though.

After having eaten pretty much only crap all day, I Went Swimming!

Came home, did dishes, took a shower, watched show, slept.

What a great Tuesday! Let’s hope this Tuesday tries to be good. As Moo would say, “Take a burella.”

May you discover more happiness today, Joey. Good luck on more $5 shoes. That may be once-a-decade.

I’m looking forward to reading Carrie’s book. It’s gotten great reviews, so I know it’ll be good. I like not putting groceries away after I list them, find them. buy them, then corral them into the back of my car. I can see why your Tuesday was great.

  5. I haven’t had a McD hamburger in ages! Don’t tolerate the carbs, mostly, but you made me remember going with the three kids as a special treat. I’ll have to do that one of these days.

I got nothing. It’s Tuesday and the termite man is coming. Hate those things. And I feel bad about all the poor drones that come out and only live a day, and don’t even eat. Wonder where they fit into the Master’s plan, hope they’re happy – until I kill them because they freak me out.

Here’s the stuff I think about: what’s best? Do you let that termite male with no chance for a mate live while it wanders around your bathroom floor in its brief life? Or is it more merciful to kill it quickly, before it dies of hunger?

I am fond of mercy and not fond of termites, so it’s sad, yes, but necessary.

As strange as it may sound, as sensitive as I am, those McMuffins sit well with me. They really do. I won’t advocating eating more than one a month, but they do me right 🙂

      • Love all things McDonald. Just don’t eat them often.

The termite man has come. They will exterminate the little things. My fault, really – if I weren’t disabled, so many things would have been dealt with in years past, instead of when we’re trying to get ready for market. There just hasn’t been the will, and when the brain will work for a few hours daily, I will NOT spend it on termites. My sould is worth something.

What a great day you had. I can’t even begin to recall my Tuesday. I may go out in search of discounted Easter candy today. As long as I stay out of Broad Ripple things should be cool. I was going to go yesterday but, ya know, snow. Sometimes I crave those nasty little fish sticks. On white bread with ketchup and dill slices. Bad habits of youth are hard to break. I hope this Tuesday is as great as last.

I truly hope you didn’t go out today. It was hellawet and even wetter. I went all over creation today and came home sopping from the knee down. Stay dry today. Breathe nicely. Discounted Easter candy tomorrow.
I didn’t like the Tuesday, but the Tuesnight might be better 🙂

Wow, last Tuesday was very good to you. I hope this one makes the attempt, but pouring rain isn’t usually a good sign. Then again, when you get rain on Tuesday, I get a rainy weekend – can you hook that burella on the clouds and hold them there for a while? Not forever, just until they run out of water.

“Burella”!!!!! That’s great! My grandpa used to call them “bumbershoots”. Why? I don’t know. I guess it was slang when he was young. Glad you had such a great Tuesday. May all future Tuesdays follow suit.
