I’d love to One-Line, but I cannot. I’m all aflutter and so wish to dish with you today, but I cannot.
Instead I must hurl random information into this box.
Someone bought the abandoned house next door, and they’ve put a new roof on it, cleared the yard, and got rid of the doghouse I think Skunk inhabited. I do wonder about Skunk’s well-being, but I hope she made a home farther from my dog. I definitely wouldn’t name our local skunk Flower, I’m just sayin.
Perhaps she is Possum’s neighbor now, somewhere near the end of the street. Maybe it’s like Hundred Acre Wood over here, I dunno. If I see a yellow bear in a red shirt, I’ll let you know, and I’ll definitely try to get a pic.
My parents, who live in Florida, just vacationed in Florida. I don’t know why this is so funny to me, but it is. Plenty of people here in Indiana vacation nearby, particularly where there’s water, but because it’s Florida it cracks me up. Is this funny to anyone else? They had a wonderful time and that’s what matters, but still there’s this voice in my head like when you live in florida, where do you vacation? why, other florida, of course!
I may be slap-happy because I’m all aflutter and I am sleep-deprived. Picking up kids from late events every night is not as awful as dropping them off in the wee hours of the morning, but The Mister and I still find ourselves yawning and rubbing our eyes a lot lately.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
“I’m so tired.”
“I’m so tired, too.”
We also fall into the category of people who say things like, “It’s only Wednesday?” Monday wasn’t only two days ago, it was also two days long. And Tuesday seemed eternal.
I’d nap, but I’m too fidgety.
Also, since I dreamt of an ice cold fountain Coke last night, I went and got one today. I wanted the reward for five days of soda sobriety to come in the form of an ice cold fountain Coke and I made it happen. I made a dream come true!
Sometimes I tra-la-la just like that, but today I’m going to clean. I’m going to clean and clean and clean and if I run out of things to clean, I will organi– no, wait, I have kids. I’m good.

Hihih, I’m all a-nodding with you and this cat because yes, yes, yes, I’ve been cleaning too, all day long! It’s holiday in Italy today and this is amore’s way of having fun. My dog watches me with concern as well! I could go on cleaning and arranging all day, I really could. I’m so tired and so wound. Ugh.
I’m glad your man is home today, and if cleaning is what he wants to do, I can’t fault him, but I hope you get a nice lazy evening out of it.

I think I went through this state of being yesterday. It was Tuesday, all day LONG, every time I checked! No matter what I did, or napped, it was Tuesday. Not that there was anything horrible about it, it just seemed so omnipotent and ever present. Hopefully its not a sign of summer to come, as Id prefer this year to just whizz by, trouble free..

So glad I’m past the kid-lugging-around days – except that I’m getting too old to want to lug myself around (costs too many days after). Hoping this all gets better after we move, and I get a pool and a gym and… out of the deal.
Who knew a house could have so much STUFF in it, and that it all has to be processed by ME before tossing?
OTOH, have reduced 10 3-ring binders of warranties and instructions down to one for the people who buy this house, and one to take with me for the small applicances and such we will take with us. Being so organized also made it easy to toss, because each was in its own separate clear sleeve, and there is an index in the front. So many things are going into the ‘not my problem any more’ category I’m giddy!

I feel you on the warranty/binder situation. Very pleased for you! I do know how much a house can hold. That is why we moved to a bungalow. Sometimes, I’m like, “Oh I don’t have enough space for xyz,” but sometimes that makes me smile, too.
I hope you get a gym and a pool and whatever else improves your life!

Thanks. The staging ladies are coming tomorrow and Friday; we’ll find out what it is they actually do to get us ready. Have tossed so much stuff – I think it’s been multiplying in the corners, because it’s spread everywhere. Overwhelming.

They finally understood me and my lack of ability to help and my need for as much of their time NOW as possible. Husband went with them today, and they got all the floorings sorted out. Now, if we can just get rid of the furniture the first estates salesman didn’t want, we’ll be a lot closer.

Because I’m on staycation this week, Joey, I’m, like, it’s already Wednesday! My dear wife Karen started a new job recently and has no time off so not only am I vacationing in my home state, I’m vacationing in my home! All’s quite well. I played golf with my recently retired pal on Monday and Tuesday. Stories and photos to come tomorrow and the next day at my place.
Glad to hear your skunk palace next door has been removed. Said skunk and cherished dog should be kept as far apart as possible to avoid a big stink, yes, I know from too much nose-altering experience.

Ooh, well I don’t want to rush you through vacation! Staycations are great sometimes, they really are. Particularly when the weather’s nice and you can go out and about at your leisure as you have been!
While I’m pleased your dear wife Karen has a new job, I am bummed about her not having the time off yet. Course, that comes with a new opportunity.

I’ve only vacationed in my state of Ohio once (well, beyond conferences and weekend getaways). It was several years ago when my kids were younger. We took a nice beach vacation one year, and they were whiny and complaining about who knows what. We warned them if they didn’t stop, next summer’s vacation would be in Columbus. They didn’t stop. We spent a week in Columbus. Actually, I suppose the joke was on my husband and me, because it was a really fun–and inexpensive–week. On the other hand, the kids never complained on vacation again.

Lakes are good for us. If Indy had a hotel on the water, we’d happily do a weekend mere miles away. When we lived in Georgia, we one time spent a weekend in Savannah, and another time, we spent a week in Atlanta. Both were excellent trips, and as you said, inexpensive. Teenagers complain about everything. I think. A lot, anyway. Two of mine hate nature and one hates geeky stuff, so generally swimming and eating are the winners!

My kids were preteen at the time. I’m not sure what was in their craw back then, but luckily it was a one-time thing.
I’ve never been to Presque L’Isle. There are probably a lot of cool places in Ohio I’ve never been. Hmm, maybe I need to vacation here again…

I grew to think those late night pick-ups and early am drop-off were nature’s way of getting me happy about the day girl-child got her driver’s license. When she was 12, I worried about that day coming. When she was 15 1/2 I was “that day can’t come soon enough!” I look forward to reading your “Moo got her license” post – expletives at your leisure.
Wednesday here seems to want to stay on the stove until it burns, Cajun Wednesday. Blackened mid-week. Something like that.
I thought people in Florida went on a cruise for vacation. Florida without the land and traffic.

Once Sassy is driving I damn well expect her to cart Moo around as well. I’ve done made that clear. But yes, when Moo is driving I will be thrilled! Hopefully Sassy won’t drive as she does on Mario Kart and Moo’s dedicated responsible side stays intact.
My parents did the cruise thing some years back — cruise after cruise after cruise. Apparently 3 days is too few and 7 is too many and 5 is juuuust riiiight for them. I also think they cruised all the cruises without going to Norway or somethin. (Which they would not do because they would freeze to death.)

Spent a couple of hours emptying and sorting at Mom’s house. Slowly — very slowly — it’s being done. This is one of those cases in which half-empty is how the OPTIMIST sees it.

It seems like the work week is getting longer and the weekends are getting shorter. I vacation in Idaho more often than everywhere else, so I can’t begrudge Floridians. It does seem kind of funny though.

All days kinda melt into one another for me. The only way I know Wednesday is that it is usually the day I have lunch with Pat. However Pat’s schedule has changed so now I am at a loss. I know what you mean about an ice cold fountain Coke. I am not a soda drinker but sometimes that sweet carbonation is just necessary. Toss a scoop of ice cream in it and you are golden. OK, just breathe. Wax on, wax off. Repeat. 🙂 My Wednesday is sunny and relatively warm. I’m accomplishing some things without going crazy. Just sent a surprise package to our younger daughter, got some cleaning done earlier, had a nice walk in the park this morning. Tomorrow I’m off to deal with the “govmint” in the form of having my interview/getting fingerprinted/et al at O’Hare Airport preparatory to getting my Global Access pass, which will enable me for five years to have TSA-pre-check in the US and expedited re-entry to the US from overseas. After that, I’ll go to my favorite teashop to relax and rejuvenate. It’s been a good week with lots getting accomplished.
P.S. Late nights (that would be after about 10 pm) are hard on me, too. 🙂 Not age so much as just being a morning person who always wakes up early.

Yay for days all aflutter. It’s nice that someone has moved the skunk away. I smelled a skunk today. I was only driving by, but I felt bad for the cross country team that I saw running through the fumes.
Vacationing to other Florida. That’s a good one! Of course I did vacation to other Florida. Cause kids and Disney and Universal. But all our other vacations were to the mountains. Now I live in mountains and want to vacation to Florida. 🙂
Ugh.. late night pick ups. I have one of those coming up in the next month (ish). Arrival time of 12:30 am. I’ve never seen an arrival actually be at arrival time. Some of the people around here had teens who traveled as a group thing to NYC. They were supposed to arrive back at 9:45pm. However, that day a tornado came through Lynchburg and laid trees across the train tracks. They finally were able to get buses and make it back to Roanoke. I think they finally arrived at 5:30 am!!
An ice cold fountain coke does sound refreshing…and I haven’t had soda in years. 🙂

These are rehearsals all week so it’s 10:30-11:30 so far. I know what you mean about the trips! Never on time. We will have one next month, too. This Saturday though, we’ll be up at 5:30 and up til midnight. You can bet on Sunday, ain’t nobody goin nowhere!
That’s terrible about the tornado. Lot of tired people. No people harmed though?
There are a few variations on Florida, but I don’t love any of them like you do. My mother sure does though, since she’s a native like you, suits her juuuust fiiiine 🙂

No one was harmed from here in the tornado and I don’t think anyone who lived there either, but I do know that sadly some people lost their homes.
😂. Florida is pretty much beach or theme parks. There’s some pretty inland stuff too, but it gets no glory.

Excited about cleaning? Really? Surely there is something you could do that is more fun than cleaning. Of course, I’m painting walls so cleaning would be more fun than that. 🙂 But, today I spent the day at Tower Hill Botanic Garden, and that was definitely fun and no one asked me to clean or paint. 🙂

Oh, the people who live in FL who have to go to Disney,constantly…been there about 3 times. I’m good. But we do like to travel ‘cross the state to St Augustine or all the way down to the Keys. That is why I moved to the Panhandle–I wanted easy access to get out of the state quickly. I think I got the best of both worlds–Florida and not-Florida!

Maybe vacation is a state of mind. Sometimes I pretend I’m on vacation at the beach 15 minutes from my house since people come here to vacation. But I can also vacation in the mountains on the other side of the state which have a completely different kind of air – maybe it’s the higher elevation compared to sea level. I LOVE your nostalgic cartoons and making your dream come true! Tra-la-la….

Oh that is a good Wednesday! We used to have Egyptian exhibits in the children’s museum, but they are no more. When I was small I loved that section and I never outgrew my fascination. I wonder if you planted a seed today 🙂

When we lived in Fort Walton Beach, FL, we went to St. Louis cuz SWA owed us and we could. Was 102 during the b-ball game. In three years we lived there, only vacationed local one time. Rented beach house in Destin and had entire family come. Glad yer up.

Bill–I live in the Panhandle and don’t know how long ago you lived in FWB/Destin, but that area has grown tremendously. Hwy 98 is like a parking lot on any given day. If the heat doesn’t kill you, the traffic sure will.
