Those Days, That Night

Those Saturdays when you barely drag your tired ass outta bed to take a shower and put on your pants and bra and shoes and instead of logging onto the interweb, you visit the outerweb to do all the things.

At night when you come home from all that, you make a beeline for the bedroom, strippin as you go. You click on the light, and see your pajamas on your *gasp* unmade bed, exactly as you left the scene of the crime.

You’re upset your bed isn’t made. why isn’t my bed made? you wonder. oh yeah, cause that bastard was still in it. HE gets ready in five minutes, the bastard.

Oh well, let’s make the bed to get in it and then oh, how we’ll sleep.

You slide your aching feet across the cold sheets and stick your earplugs in. Your narrator brain lulls you to sleep — that’s a blog post, you think.

It was a great long weekend, let’s make it a great day! (Even if it is a Tuesday.)

Agreed! Let’s make it a great day! Beds … there are times I turn around to get back into the bed and *gasp* as it registers I didn’t even make it up, was it just that morn? I go flying out so fast some days that bed is totally forgotten but not when it is time to climb back into ready to hit that pillow. Have a great day, Joey!! 😎

Sorry for being one of those people who get ready quick. I do have those days, but I don’t have any excuses. I do hope you have a great week!

Thank God, I’m not the only freaktoid who can’t go to bed when it hasn’t been made. Of course I will take that extra step of making the bed before I drag my tired body into it. How the rest of the world can do that is beyond me.

Happy Tuesday, Joey. I predict a good one 🙂

Having just ‘kinda’ made the bed while the coffee brews, I’m laughing at your so true post about climbing back into unmade beds. Thank you Joey.

There is something magical about being feet dragging tired and sliding into cold sheets. Especially next to someone you love.

Yes. It is Tuesday. I hope it is wunnerful for everyone. It is also the final week of May as June awaits us on Friday. Bed not made cuz there is a body in it. If it ain’t made by 3PM, I use the ‘why bother’ theory. Works for me.

  10. Hahah, my narrator brain won’t shut up, either! In the morning, I never remember those perfect blog posts I could’ve/should’ve written

  11. I’m one of those people who have to make my bed too. My daughter always laughs at me and says ‘who cares, you’re getting back in it tonight.’ I care – I like it tidy. 🙂

      I care too! Yay!
When we were first married, I had trouble adapting to ‘sharing’ and we slept in separate blankets. I adapted and now I can’t stand it in shambles!

I can get ready quick but I still like my stretched-out morning routine, Joey. Which includes straightening out the bed, by the way, so it’s ready for the tired flop at the end of the day.

Could be any day in the life of a blogger. For us, with a full service design firm that does require us to show up in clothes…this is the weekend for us! Great post!

Looks like a comfy bed to climb back into too – I would have a hard time getting out of it.

  17. I’m behind again! I hope it was a good Tuesday, and today!

Did you embroider your pillowcases? I like them! I used to do a lot of embroidery, and counted cross stitch when my kids were little and I was giving up smoking. It kept my hands busy, and sucking on Tic Tacs kept my mouth busy. So, glad I beat the heck outta that habit fairly early in life.

I never did pillowcases though. Placemats, napkins, table runner, wall fru-fru things…Huh. Never ever thought of pillowcases!

I don’t embroider anything. My embroidery skills are sub-par beyond a blanket stitch. The pillowcases were made by some lady who attends the Mottern family reunion, but she’s not family, I dunno. I won them at the White Elephant party. I love them so much I even blogged about them at the time.

My dad does incredible needlepoint. We must have half a dozen of his pieces framed around here.

I quit smoking in … nine more days to four years ago. I vape tho. It’s like smoking for cheaters. Still, dr and dentist happy 😛

      • Those were a great White Elephant gift! I would a stole those if they turned up at our family game of White Elephant Gift Exchange.

Vaping wasn’t invented when I quit smoking so, when the craving got really, really bad I’d go to a co workers office who was a HEAVY smoker…I mean one in his mouth, one in the ashtray burning, and one getting ready to be lit up. The smoke was so bad he was required to keep his office door closed. Anyway, when my craving got really bad I’d head over to B’s office and just inhale the fumes a spell. My was my version of Vaping. 😊
After about 8 weeks of cold turkey, and B’s fumes I was over it.
Congratulations on licking it! It’s been over 30 yrs since I quit.

I think if I went into an office like that now, I’d choke! lol
I’m not one of those reformed, oh gag kinda people, but even when I smoked, there was a tolerance level… Phew!

          • LOL! I couldn’t do it today either. I have a friend who smokes and sometimes he can’t be far enough away. I have to move a little more further away.
It’s hard to imagine smoking at the office today! 🙂

  19. My making the bed is throwing the covers over the pillows normally. 🙂 I did grow up with making the bed so I have to do it. Plus, the cats love laying on the bed and I don’t want cat hair where I sleep. LOL Heck some weekends I don’t take a shower both days. Gasp. 🙂

I can understand how it feels when you walk in and the bed is not made. Even though I was heavily pampered by my mother there were certain rules that I had to follow. Get up and make your own bed. Aim right while peeing because there are ladies in the house that use the same toilet. And provide your exact location of where you’re going before you leave the house. I still make my own bed before I go brush my teeth and take a shower. Even if I’m late I still make my bed because I know when I return home to crash I want it all set.
