Last weekend, we met Benson for brunch at Gallery.

When it comes to foodie things, I trust Benson. (Also, Gallery serves brunch until 3 in the afternoon. Hey, I got up at 9.)

Brunch was freakin delightful!

I started with a grapefruit mimosa, then a lemon curd crêpe, followed by eggs over easy and hashbrowns, and then, OH MY GAH! then, a croissant with brûléed trillium cheese and berry compote!

Mercy.
I had never had trillium cheese before and I had apparently been wasting my life. Don’t waste your life, when offered, try the trillium cheese.

And then, we took home macarons, because who can pass up macarons, but also who can possibly fit more food in her tummy after all that brunch gluttony goodness?!?

    Lord love a duck, that food does look good. Never heard of trillium cheese, but will keep it in mind. And a grapefruit mimosa– never thought of that combo and couldn’t tell you why not. I’d love it. Also, nice door! 😊

    Pastry shop–I love how fancy that sounds. I would never pass up going into a pastry shop. Grapefruit mimosa….ooh, that makes me pucker up. But in a good way.

    Do they deliver out of state? My bowl of cold cereal I just had seems pretty pitiful after seeing all this beautiful food. 🙂

    OMG to die for! The grapefruit mimosa not so much as I am not a fan of grapefruit (too much associated with dieting maybe?). Certainly the lemon curd and the croissant would be on my plate but I don’t know that I’d be able to eat all that at once. That is definitely a door I’d like to go through!

    Wonderful post and beautiful pictures. Pictures don’t usually make me salivate but those did. Prolly because they evoke those foodie memories. May I have some more please?

    I never heard of trillium cheese! I had to look it up. With luck, Facebook will now serve me ads of local places with sales on it. 😉

    Oh, my, I want me some!! Just curious how much the macarons were, as we sell them where I work. Now I’m really, really hungry!!

      They were … 12 for $35 I think? They have one-dollar macarons on Wednesday and apparently that’s when they have all the flavors. I was sad there were no lavender the day we went.
      Between you and me and Moo and Benson, I’ve had better.

    I would have fried the eggs hard, but otherwise it all looks great. I WISH we had a great breakfast place around here, and you’d think we would, it being Woodstock NY and all. There’s one place that’s vegan and that’s good, although scrambled tofu is NOT eggs, and one place which has been a little disappointingly eh lately after trying to become ‘more hip’, and nowhere else to eat a decent egg sandwich without it being a super-expensive buffet etc. It makes me grumpy. I’m glad you had good chow.

      Thanks! That is a bit odd, I agree. Even the smallest podunk towns here do a good brekkie. I’d think there’d be some sorta clean-eating, organic, but not vegan noshery in Woodstock.

        There sort of is, but they recently decied to change the vibe of it to…the Amy Winehouse music channel, so now it just fee;ls and sounds like poverty, drugs, and death, with a side of bacon, instead of the 60s and reggae which they used to play and which cheered up the place in a Woodstock way. Now it feels poor and sullen, like a place run by poor and unhappy people, and we just don’t go anymore–we used to give great tips too. It’s too bad, since many of the folks working there were great, and the food was good, and yet…bleak bleak bleak. Breakfast and dead druggies from the 90s or 2000 or so–instead of the built-in theme of Woodstock-type music, where yeah, the dead druggies at least had a peace and love goal–oh well. I am sure they still get the tourists. I do miss the excellent coffee…

    That’s what I call a perfect way to start the day. Especially on the weekend when you have more time to slow down and enjoy it. I’d never heard of Trillium cheese but then I’m not the cheese expert in our household. I’ll ask my better half and see who may sell it around here. I’m always game to try a new cheese.

      Thank you so much, Norm. I seriously sat here this morning and FELT like I was forgetting something! lol At least I didn’t leave the iron on 😉
      If your wife knows trillium cheese, I will seriously be impressed. It’s an Indiana cheese, similar to brie and camembert.

    Okay, nice door, but amazing food – WOW. That looked like a gastronomical delight for sure. I would love it all, and I didn’t know there was a cheese I wasn’t familiar with, but I’ll be on the lookout for it.

    Lavender macarons are my favourite! Quite sad they didn’t have any for you that day.
    Truth be told, I’d forgotten this was a TD post coz I was so captivated by the food photos. I do like all the greenery around their door though.

    Like Marianne above I checked the trillium cheese, a blend of French cheeses with an Indianapolis touch. Wow! You guys are crazy up there 🙂
    The website for Benson is yummy looking. And they have cooking classes! How cool is that?

    Well, the door was sorta important, to let you in to that restaurant. The food photos were some of your best images; made us feel we were there too cept we couldn’t sniff the aroma or taste what you ate. Never heard of Trillium Cheese until you posted it here but google said it’s available in Whole Foods if they have markets nationwide; Amazon bought Whole Foods and will deliver if ordered. I think one of these days I’ll try it when I’m near a Whole Foods Market.

    In the words of the movie, When Harry Met Sally, “I want what she’s having” 😉

    Mistake reading this before I’ve eaten breakfast or anything! The food looks and sounds amazing!

    I’ve never heard of Trillium cheese! I’d walk through that door anytime!
