I was doorscursioning and I saw this place and thought how hot it looked.
I liked the overall vibe of these wee abodes. Happy. Painted happy colors with happy hardware and happy plants and best of all, off a barely traveled street. I love that. But don’t it look hot? I bet it’s a lot more inviting when it’s ten degrees and snowy. Well, not for the plants…
I was so caught up in this spot, pondering the quiet in the city, takin in all the texture, I didn’t even get the doors ferreal.
Distraction.
Here’s another one I got hung up on and never got the actual door shot. It’s in another city from another time, but it’s the same kooky me, entranced by the overall entrance.
Opposite this door was a section of giant zinnias, which I watched some sparrows utterly destroying. Someone, probably the resident here, cast sunflower seeds all over the alleyway, no doubt in an attempt to lure the sparrows away from the zinnias. The sparrows, ruthless in their hunt for fresh spoils, did not appear distracted. I was so caught up in watching the sparrows, I didn’t even photograph the scene.

Well, you did catch the doors in your photo. If I’m correct, those look like slamable screen doors. Maybe that’s what threw you off, imagining slamming them. Anyway, I like that entrance too. The smaller units do look hot. I’m tired of hot.
Good work extending doorscursion 🙂

Good man, you know I wanna slam them!
I am also tired of hot.
Thank you!

This comment threw me back to my childhood! With 5 kids, it’s a wonder we didn’t drive my mother insane with the constant slamming of the screen door as we went in and out of the house!

I think we might have driven ours over the edge. It might explain some of her behavior.

HAHAHAHA!!!
Oops, I’m a mother with 2 boys. I really shouldn’t have laughed 😉

That was my mom. Two boys, a husband who was like a big kid, and a house with one bathroom.

I don’t know your mom but there is enough evidence in your last sentence to make her eligible for sainthood.

We both moved out. My dad died when he was 60, and she lived 33 more years!

Those are cute little houses. That second photo is just full of stuff isn’t it. The meters, the pots and is that a litter box and bowl of cat food? Brave sparrows.

I’m with Benson on that second one: lots going on with there but at least the birds were staying out of those planters.
I’m not ready for snow yet but it would be nice if the darn heat and humidity we’re still having would break for more than just a day at a time.

Right? We’re getting some cooler temps, and it’s raining all weekend. I don’t even care. I’ll open my windows anyway!

I could relate to this post about distractions! I too get so fixated on an entire scene that I sometimes forget to photograph it.

Good! Sometimes witnessing is better than documenting.

I like your distracted doors. The setting is part of the glory. And thank you for sparing us the ghastliness of a sparrowpocalypse.

Thanks! Ruthless, they were!

They do look hot. I’m always trying to distract the birds from my strawberries without much success. Have a great weekend!

Those doors didn’t feel hot to me, but I’m SO glad right now to have the heat gone for at least a bit. I, with you, was getting very, very, VERY tired of it and that dratted humidity! Hurrah for the cool!!

That second one sure did have a lot going on! Easy to get sidetracked taking it all in. The recent rain cooled down the temps, which was nice.
