Can I tell you how nice it is to be alone in the house?
All week, my family said stuff about doing things today and while I heard them, I didn’t actually actively listen apart from the sections which involved my driving. I simply said “Okay” a lot. As today neared, I began to wonder what the hell was happening, but I wasn’t sure I wanted all that in my brain, because as I said, apart from the driving, it doesn’t concern me. Piecing together the taxi schedule didn’t matter to me.
I didn’t sign up for this event, nor was it assigned to me, therefore, I received no emails about it. Turns out more than one thing is happening. I have no practices, no performances, no rehearsals, no parties to go to.
I got the 9am part. Take Moo. 9am. Roger that.
I woke up to Moo, “MIMOM!”
I had been dreaming. My hand shot up. “I am Mimom!”
Moo said something like, “Mmm, eh, heh rmanrmrr bemmhm lrrrrmnm hmmler m” so I took my earplugs out. “I don’t know which one is the gas and which one is the brake so I can turn your car on and it’s cold already and I want to leave in twenty minutes. Are you gonna get up?”
“My alarm is going to go off at 8:30 and it takes five minutes to get to school.”
“I want to be there early.”
of course you do. i always want to be early to my things, too. this, however, is not my thing.
I slept very well. Reports from The Mister include me snoring on his chest before he fell asleep. I remember nothing. I nestled into him and awoke to Moo. I don’t remember putting my earplugs in or fixing my pillows.
I drove Moo to school.
The Mister showed up at home some time later. He said he caused some sorta ruckus when he left the house, and kept asking me if I really didn’t hear him. I really didn’t.
I had a text from Sassy, “I set my alarm. Please don’t wake me. I will get up.”
I know exactly how she feels. Also, so we’re clear, I didn’t even know she was here, because I don’t know how many things she’s doing and I wouldn’t know what time to wake her because I legit don’t know what time she has to be anywhere, only that I have to drive her at several points today.
When she finally did arise, I told her if she got ready early enough I would take her to McDon’ts. She leapt from the sofa.
I got McDon’ts, dropped Sassy off, and gave food to The Mister before he left to do another thing.
Apparently, I have the house to myself for hours and hours. I suppose I should work in my yard and go to the goddamned grocery store, but I’m not shoulding. Can I read? I can!
With Gratitude

For the first time in weeks, months, I have a day I can write. If I get myself going. If I overcome the inertia of six months. If I don’t get interrupted. Again. Hope I get something done – this is getting very old. So am I.

LMFAO!!! OMG! You are hysterical, Joey!! I burst out laughing about you snoring on hubby’s chest. THAT is one reason why MY hubby is now sleeping in his own bed, thank you very much! Grrrrr ….. Snoring is NOT fun for the other guy. Sorry. I just had to say that. I don’t even wear ear plugs and I still hear nothing …. thunder that rocks the house, cats fighting, hubby snoring. I do awake however, in the morning when my 16 pound Cuddles jumps on my full bladder to alert me … Mom, it is time NOW to wake up. Uh-er-OK, Buddy. Now please remove yourself from my bladder!!! Hehehehehehehe

The six pound cat is the leaper of bladders here. It’s enough. Truly!
I wear earplugs because my husband snores so loudly. I am always happy to know I’ve snored ON HIM! 😛 Sometimes even with the earplugs I have to ask him to face the other way cause he snores my face!

Oh, Joey, I swear to you my heart really goes out to you. There were years when I used to just shove my husband on his side when he was on his back snoring away. I finally got to the point because I was not sleeping well at all that I told him that’s it you are now going to be sleeping in the other bedroom. Since that decision I’ve never slept better! Besides, he is a bed hogger and a very restless sleeper so many many nights I woke up getting pushed shoved kicked… No way I said no way no more. LOL

I’m glad you’re getting good sleep 🙂 We’ve had some rough nights over the years, but knock wood, nothing that bad. We sleep together well otherwise. Still, I am glad I snored on him 😛

What a delightful and happy and funny post. I am MIMOM. Is that anything like I am Spartacus? The way of the world when your daughter texts you wake up instructions. I remember those times of no kids and no spouse. Heaven. I also remember those times of no kids with spouse. Both are heaven; just for different reasons. Hope your weekend is Fabulous.

If you ‘have’ to go to the grocery store, don’t buy coffee. I’ll send some Peets your way. 🙂

I have the house to myself today. I slept in till 9, made some breakfast. Caught up on 3 weeks of reading for school. Took a 2 1/2 hour nap and here I am, in my jammies at 4pm blogging. Can’t think of a better use of a Saturday.

Woot! That does sound fabulous! Go you! I never did catch a nap, but I read some 🙂

Don’t should! Or put in a Shakespearean way, should not!
I know that driver feeling. I wanted to hit the hay early last night but a teen needed a ride home from her institution of higher learning.
As for reading, two are on a university “reading week” all next week and I thought to myself, I’d like a reading week, too. Shall we start a reading spa?

Oh my goodness, the reading spa sounds almost as good as the sleep resort! Yes, please!
I have to go back out in about two hours and then I’m done with the driving 🙂

Ha ha ! When the lesser half snores, I always jab him painfully 😀 Good way of taking advantage – your Mister is sweeter than I am. I hope you the very minimum this weekend 🙂

I love having a bit of time to myself but as my husband works from home, that rarely happens! To get my alone time, I walk in the park. 🙂 When I do have a bit of time alone at home, I bring out some stashed snack-y thing to enjoy in private. 🙂

There’s many a day when I wait for people to tell me when and where to go. They’re grown. They can run it now. Mostly.

Right? I was open to drive. That’s all I had to do, just drive 🙂

Sounds like a holiday just for you! You have helped me not take for granted what I have most days when it’s just me and the dogs. They are not much trouble. It’s funny how I talk to them more.

I currently have the house to myself out on the property! Went out to dinner with some old friends who were in the area visiting. I drove home in the dark! Big ass deal out here in the country. No street lights. Just enough light from the moon. I enjoy time alone, but I prefer having hubby with me. We’re really good at being together but still doing our own thing. Don’t even get me started on the snoring…😤😫

LOL Sorry you’re in the snoring group, too.
I don’t enjoy long drives in the country, particularly in the dark. My bestie moved out to the boonies years ago; in the daylight, I love her land. In the night, I’m terrified! Hah! Driving there always creeps me out. You and she are brave women!

Soldier on. Trust me, the alone times will get longer and longer as the years pass. Btw, I love your names for fast food joints.

I enjoy the stillness of our house when I am alone in it. I’ve always like that feeling even as a girl growing up in my parents house. I hope that you got your quiet time and that you did EXACTLY what you wanted to do during it.

Wow, I’m really late to this post. I kinda hope you’re still sleeping and didn’t notice. I had things. Very little driving, but lots of things. The sleep-of-the-dead is a good sleep sometimes. I’ll bet if they had just put you in the car and kept you warm, you could have driven without waking up.

Aloning is heavenly, especially when you’ve been peopling your brains out, but only if you know it’s only for a little while. I could not bear to alone always.

I recently have found myself with much less alone time. It has taken some adjusting. I am almost adjusted. But I will still need some alone time. I hope you got to do lots of reading!

Being home alone for a few hours is the absolute best. After the Twilight zone feeling because of the quietness goes away, anyway.
